Two sad facts. One, the ravens might be drafting too high to get him, unless they trade down. Two, they having a glaring blind spot for top quality recievers. Boy I wish they would draft him. Between him, Perriman, Ross and the tight ends, this offense would only be stopped by them selves.... or a piss poor offensive coordinator.....
-
Missed tackles are the first sign of being tired. They were pushed around most of the game, no pressure on Palmer; more signs of being tired; worn out. Don't get me started on Mosely, oh wait he had a sack, whippie! NOT.....
-
The game was lost on the plane to there..... This team looks tired, both lines, no gas left in the tank. They looked incredibly slow both physically and mentally. Missed assignments, simple assignments too boot..... The only brite spot was Buck Allen, I think they found their running back for the future.... The game was lost in the off season when they hired Mark Tressman; predictable offense............ The game was lost in the off season when they brough Pees back... no imagnation, no sense of talent..... no true game planing...
-
Yes, the game has gown down, talent wise. Not because of a lack of talent, but because f a lack of preparation. These new practice rules etc that the players wanted, as we have talked about when the CBA was reworked, have given what we have today; medicocre play. The teams winning today win not just because they have better players, but because their attention to detail is much better; they make less mistakes. Brady is great, but as history has sown with his receivers who left there, they would not be as good with out him. Why? system, how they are sued, yes, but more so, how much emphasis Billy B puts on knowing, doing your assignment to the letter. They do, so they win more. They Ravens don't, so they lose more. Is it leadership? Maybe, but some of the onus has to fall on the players. No matter how hard Harbs claims they work, come game day, with so many blown assignments, it is clear, they do not, truly.

DeSean Jackson released by Philadelphia Eagles

http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/desean-jacksons-home-robbed/ar-BBmnl0U?li=AAa0dzB&ocid=U142DHP Don't mind the mess, just more coincidences running after Desean. Glad no one was hurt, seriously..... Well, TMZ is not against making things up to make money..... -
Puzzling isn't it? It was the same back in 96, Vinne, Derrick, Michael, the offense couldn't be stopped, except when they got lazy and stopped them selves. The defense showed flashes, but could not stop a pee-wee team.

This is a pivital year for the franchise. Sure they can take the asy way out, fire the coach, bring in some one different to "reach the players" and get their "fire back".... That might last for a few years, then you are stuck in the ever revolving coaching door... or, you take a page from the Steelers, who stick it out with a coach through a few down seasons, showing the stability of the franchise; players like to see that. One thing we can say about this franchise; players love to play here. Fire him? Poor game management over all, his choice for who tells him to challange calls puzzles me, as they are mostly always wrong.... Use of time outs, another issue.... But overall, no, stick with him, he is young, remember, give him 3 more years see if this team turns around, talent wise.
-
Why would you cut a player when you can trade him and get something for him? It is not as if he has a clause in his contract, ala RG3, that makes it impossible to trade him. Also, with all the dead money coming off the books, by releasing or trading Webb and a few others, there would be plenty of cap space to work with his contract over the next year and see where the team goes. Releasing him, trading him, in my opinion, working a new deal or not is foolish. Franchise quarterbacks do not come around very often and you will set the franshise back at least 5 more years, likely, 10. How long was it befor they drafted Joe? How has any other franchise done by getting rid of a quarterback of Joe's capabilities? Answer- see Cleveland, Washington, Cinci, Okland, Phili, NYJ, Miami, Houston, need I go on? Green Bay was lucky as much as it was good in landing both Favre and then drafting Rogers, who sat for many years behind Favre. San Fran was just as lucky, by landing Steve Young when they had Joe Montanna, even then, they had great weapons around each player. Indi, the judge is still out eating lunch on Luck, though he looks like a keeper, how many playoff games has he won? How is is season going this year? Seattle had three really good QB's in their franchise history, only one of them was able to win a Super Bowl, and that was with an historic defense; how often do they come around? How is that defense today?

Ravens goal is to limit the disappointment to one season

Williams, Guy and likely Davis are the foundation of the line, maybe Smith as a rush end if he gets stronger and developes moves. It is a nice foundation. -

Given how they have missed on many players over several drafts, I wonder if changes in the front office & or scouting department are in order? Go back even to five years ago, the new director of college scouting took over and the drafts since then have not been great. Would Hortiz be a guy they move out? Do they look at vincent Newsome-director of pro personnel, he was promoted five years ago, when this down fall truly started. His bio pretty much speaks to maybe we found the "culprit".... or do they go lower? Chad Alexander, now the assistant director of pro personnel, who was a scout, responsible for Oher and Webb, his two "big name" players from his region. Maybe Ozzie and company are putting too much stock into these two's opinion on players and salaries. It is one thing for players failing to perform, another for coaches to not put them in position to perform, but if the people chosing said players are not living up to the level they should be, hmmmm -

It is a typical article by him, he writes to people who dont know what a snap count is........ bingo, one year since he has been here has the pts given up per game been below 20 pts. Even that was misleading as we know when ever they faced a good quarterback, this team would have to out score them or lose. People talk about game winning drives Joe has as if he should be expected to pull them off every time. How many, though, 4th quarter leads, late 4th quarter leads, double digit 4th quarter leads has the defense given up? What is their third down % since Pees took over? -

Suggs and Dumervil were healthy last year, there was no pressure on the quarterbacks in the 2n half of games, in the 2nd half of the season. The secondary couldn't cover then either. Bunk science, just like the palio diet......... Name one real quarterback they gone against this year? Bueller, Bueller... Oh Peyton, well we see he was not who we thought he was......... No kidding, anyone with a pulse saw this season now, as nothing but an evaluation seaon now.... But tell me oh wise one, who chose the players, either by draft, or free agency, to get us to this point? Who said they could work with the lack of talent in the secondary? Who decided these wide receivers would be "good enough"? I do agree, the base is here, the defensive and offensive lines are pretty stacked, though they need a little depth. Guy and Williams have been great, I mean great players on the D-line, seems this team always has a defensive line... Wonder who that guy is who not only said he could "make it work" but actually has with virtual no names? Maybe he should get a raise, a promotion...... -
Not too sure about this one...... Improvements with each game? really? Like running one out of ten routes better than the game before? Brown still does not know how to run against the zone, how to identify windows in the zone, & speed up, slow down or sit as the windows open. Just because the play sheet says the zone window should be at 10 yards, does not mean the actual play of the defense means it will be there at 10, it may be at 8 or 12, you may need to speed up or slow down... He still can't get that right.... Forget about seperation, there is none in man coverage, so no improvement there either.... He is still dropping one out of two passes thrown to him, so where is the improvement? The same goes for the others.... I am glad to see them use Ross and Givens more now, they should get expanded roles now that they have some more of the offense down.

& the Paul Bunyan trophy being put in the Michigan lockeroom....... oops... -
I agree, the proof of Pees' failure is in the pudding of a defense this team has feilded since he arrived. He took over in 2012, the defense ranked 12th in the league, 21 pts per game, up 5 pts per game from the previous year (16 pts per game),,,,, 2013- 22 pts per game (12th), 2014 18 pts per game a dip, and aberation, this year, 27 pts per game 27th in the league on pace to be the worst in franchise history, and that is saying something given the 1996-98 seasons.....
-
I really think Brooks should get a shot. The defensive line has always been strong, he gets the most out of every player they give him. I know Suggs and Lewis were pushing for him to get the job a few years ago, the players love him. I think he would much better than Pees...
-
Keep in mind, Rogers sat for a few years behind Brett Farve, ran the practice squad..... I think this would be a good year to draft Joe's replacement, there are a few good ones coming out the Ravens could get later in the draft. All of them coming outthis coming draft need a few years to sit any way. The kid from Memphis comes to mind, Paxton Lynch. Smart, quick feet, strong arm, a cerebral qb with good feel in the pocket but he needs 3-4 years of learning at this level....
-
I think he is right up there with the best to be honest. Yesterday proved that he is not the issue, the play design/calling is one issue and receivers are the other. Two dropped, well thrown toucdown passes. Marlin Brown on the pass that Aiken caught, was open and the target, but he showed his inablility to understand how to run the route. Even if Aiken doesn't make the catch, Brown would have missed it too because he kept running to the sideline, rather than sitting down. The pass would have been behind him. Give him some better receivers, design some plays for them that get them open, those are touchdowns. Why they don't use the tight ends, all of who are 6.5 or better and can jump, is beyond me....
-
Yep, two - three years is about right. They are not one player away, but are close enough, when you look at the loses & the fact they should have won dispite their issues, that this is not a long time fix. They need to find out which of the receivers, they need to keep between Ross (really like him) Givens, then Aiken and the rest. It is time to unleash Given & Ross, they have shown enough the past two games that they are better options than Aiken & Brown. Once they figure out the receivers, then they can start to see what is needed on offense from the draft. It looks like they will have a real shot at Laquan Treadwell, but will they need him? This is the part that really sucks about the rookie being hurt for so long, they don't know what they have in him. Treadwell is a complete receiver, some rough edges to mill off, but very little "teaching" needed. The defense needs so much in the back end. But this draft is going to be deep with (real) viable safeties who can not only cover, but have the instincts to excell. They could land one in the first 3 rounds who can start from day one. There are a few middle linebackers coming out who could also fill the void in the middle, Smith is clearly losing what ever speed he had, his age caught up to him big time. Currently, they have no good option on the team, but they could find his replacement in the first round, maybe even in the 2nd round. Corners are also needed, one could be had in round one as well. It should be fun.

No, not a chance. It is such a crap shoot, nothing is gaurenteed when drafting, especially quarterbacks. He could just as easily end of being terrible. The team knows what they have in Flacco, knows he can lead them to a Super Bowl victory. You don't give up on him. This last game was a perfect example of what is wrong with the team and it is not all on Joe. Two dropped touchdown passes, a missed field goal, the defense held twice on short fields keeping a bad offense to two field goals after two horrible picks. 11 pts left on the field, certainly enough to win. Two blown coverages on defense lead directly to touchdowns, 14 pts right there. These things happen in games, no player is perfect. However, they have been happening to this team now for far too long; changes have to be made. In the coaching staff, yes, in players, but in who decides which players to sign & or draft. This didn't start yesterday, it goes back 3 years to who was drafted, who was developed or was not, who was signed or let go based on someone's decision, opinion on payers. We know it isn't the offensive coordinator since Tresman is the 4th in 4 years. We know it isn't just Joe making poor decisions, we have seen receivers run improper routes, drop passes, not being able to get seperation. seen over the 20+ years how the team has failed to develop any receiver. The defense has slowly been slipping over the past five or so years, penalties because they can't cover, fail to get pressure late in games, fail to cause turnovers, fail to develop any real cornerback or middle backer. The more you look at this, the more it is clear Ozzie needs to go, drafts have been weak, free agent pick ups,/ trades, have not worked out, players released are starting to come back to haunt this team, this team never seems to have a comfortable amount of cap room because of dead money. Yes, this season is not just about evaluating players, but also coaching, scout and front office jobs.....
-
Smith caught two passes, the passes he caught, one of them a bomb for a touchdown, where the only times he was not challanged at the line of scrimmage. Every other time, he was not able to get open...... So either the db didnt follow the direction of Pees, or Pees didn't tell him to press cover Smith..... Just more proof. Maybe they are just waiting to see if Pagano becomes available....
-
Harbs said he is making no coaching changes; right now. This does not mean Biscutt won't or after the season, Harbs won't, just not right now, hmmm any who- they have the foundation of good, (key word) young talent on the defensive line, tackles that go four-five deep; beef cakes too boot. They have an emerging defensive end, who needs to bulk up and learn up some moves. They have one corner, even if he is past his true prime, Smith can still play pretty well.... After that, it is plug & no play. So they need a few corners, two safeties (Ok one is locked in and really not that bad), an edge rusher and line backers (ok they have one young guy too early to truly give up, yet) So in reality, this defense is not that far off, remember, all of the defensive linemen can not only stop the run, they can rush the passer, collaspe the pocket well, at least in the first half of games, depth/conditioning keeps them from being effective in the 2n half of games. They are a couple of decent corners who are not starters but good dime backs, ok nickle backs, but injuries and sucktitude have forced them into starting roles, seeing more playing time that exposes them. Yes, I agree, a new defensive coordinator is needed, I am certain, after the season, there will be one. This is not the first year the defense has failed to protect elads under Pees. They might be waiting to see what happens with Pogano, if he gets canned they may bring him back. I know, I know, he "swears" he will not coach again after the Colts' gig. If not him, I would not be shocked and would be happy, if they gave the job to Brooks. Tressman has to go. We've seen him in Chicago, no imagination, some speculated it was because of Cutler, but so far, we've seen nothing to get match-ups, to get players open. Nothing from the tight ends, which would have worked great down the seams against the Browns, which works great against most every team; these are young, athletic, talented tight ends, no reason to not use them......
-
They never should have signed Babin, he was always weak against the run and his ability to get to the passer went away a long time ago. Another stupid move.....
-
USC fired him a little while ago..... Hadden should be next..... George O'Leary just stepped back from the AD role at SFU, but will still coach them for now. I wonder, I know he wanted to rebuild that program, but the man can still coach & teach the game, would he come back to the ACC, ooops, would he come to MD.....
-
A little tid-bit; Ray would get the call to blitz and would often tell the weak side backer, whom ever it was at the time, Scott, mostly, to blitz and he would stay in coverage.
