  1. I had the pleasure of meeting him a couple of times at various gatherings, always a smile and a hand shake, and very happy to share stories of his old colt days over a few beers.
  2. Artie was great, always took time to speak woth the fans. What I found so amazing was how short he was yet that didn't stop him from being a great NFL player

  4. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/46096171/baltimore-ravens-lamar-jackson-2025-game-another-level It was midway through Baltimore Ravens training camp when quarterback Lamar Jackson rolled to his right and saw wide receiver Keith Kirkwood open along the sideline for a surefire big play. But Jackson's pass sailed wildly over Kirkwood. Without hesitation, Jackson, a two-time NFL Most Valuable Player, dropped face-first to the ground and did 10 pushups. Coaches and teammates say this is a glimpse of how Jackson is constantly chasing perfection and how this underscores his bold statement on the first day of training camp. When asked if there was another level to his game, Jackson replied, "Yes. I'm only 28. I'm really just getting started." As the Ravens prepare to open the season Sunday night at the Buffalo Bills (8:20 p.m. ET, NBC), Jackson is at a point in his career where he's entering his prime while dealing with the same questions. He believes there is more to his game, but he's facing increasing pressure to follow a spectacular regular season with an equally remarkable postseason. "We've had two back-to-back years of some really, really tough losses that ended the season in a way that we don't want to end the season," Ravens quarterbacks coach Tee Martin said. "If you know Lamar, like I know him competitively, he's probably thought about that every day [and] every minute during the offseason. So, that comes with a sense of urgency and a sense of purpose." Jackson's latest playoff disappointment -- a 27-25 divisional round loss in Buffalo -- came after he produced one of the best seasons by a quarterback in NFL history. He became the first player to throw more than 40 touchdown passes and fewer than five interceptions in the same season. Jackson proved again that he's the league's most explosive playmaker in the league, leading the NFL in yards per pass attempt (8.8) and yards per carry (6.6). After watching Jackson deliver this impressive season, Ravens tight end Mark Andrews said jokingly that it might be 10 years until everyone sees Jackson at his peak. "Every year, he finds a new way to get better and better," Andrews said. "It's almost like the game has just continually slowed down for him. And he's already such a fast, dynamic player and his playmaking, the way he reads the game, he's just getting more and more comfortable. I love the way that he's just going about his business and continues to move that bar higher and higher, which is already incredible." When looking at the careers of the previous three multiple NFL MVP winners who are either retired or nearing the end of their careers, Jackson could be -- as he said -- just getting started. All six of the seasons Peyton Manning totaled a passer rating over 100 came when he was 28 or older. All eight of Tom Brady's seasons with over 4,500 passing yards came when he was 30 or older. Aaron Rodgers' seven highest touchdown pass seasons came when he was 28 or older. Jackson could be approaching that same cusp after reaching new heights as a passer last season. He produced a career-best 4,172 passing yards, which were 494 more than any of his previous six seasons. He also set personal marks for most touchdown passes (41) and fewest interceptions (four) in a season. "I think Lamar kind of makes his own trajectory," left tackle Ronnie Stanley said. "He's going to do things week-in and week-out that we haven't seen before, so it's always surprising the new things he can do and accomplish. After playing with him for eight years, I'm not surprised by him always pushing the limits and breaking new boundaries." WHEN ANALYZING HOW Jackson can further ratchet up his game, the knee-jerk reaction is to focus on his passing. For those close to Jackson, it's more about what is happening after he throws the ball. On the practice field, Jackson talks to his wide receivers about what went right and wrong on the previous plays. He has even pulled wide receivers coach Greg Lewis and offensive line coach George Warhop to talk off to the side. "He's more vocal than he ever has been about what he wants from us, even to the staff and the offensive linemen," wide receiver Rashod Bateman said. "He's definitely pushing the agenda of just staying hungry and being competitive." Jackson has never been outspoken. He has never been the type of player to deliver a great motivational speech. His style has always been leading by example. But coaches have pushed him to talk to teammates more one-on-one. "Mentally, he's in a different place," Martin said. "It's his third year in the system. He's playing with a lot of the same players. Having the [good] communication of the guys who he has to communicate with the most, Bateman, Zay [Flowers], all the guys, Mark. It's time to take not only himself to the next level, but the whole unit."
  5. These have been terrific games, thrilling, surreal, heart breaking. When the Ravens play their A game, they run down the throats of the Bills, wear them down, then dominate. The offense controls the clock, the ball, making the Bills have to be one dimensional, throw, to keep up. It is a recipe that has worked almost to perfection, almost because they only seem employ it in the regular season, at least on a consistent basis. Last season, well, last post season, they controlled the game by running the ball, mixed in timely passing. Then forgot one thing, protect the ball. They turned the ball over trying to do too much, they dropped key passes trying too hard to make a play. In essence, they forgot to remember who they were; the better team. So now we run this back, a regular season game, this one to open the season. Will they remember? So, who ya got?
  6. Nice watching football again, college today, tomorrow, Monday. Question for the audience. If a runner can now be pushed forward and have the ball spotted forward from where the scrim started. Why then, do we not give the defense the same courtesy, when said runner is pushed back? Instead of forward progress being the call. Oh I know, offense sells...
  7. That netflix show was awesome. You could really see how Jimmy was the reason for their success, in the draft and on the field. The players knew it. Had they kept him, they win 2 more, but neither he nor Jerry could put their egos aside. The worst thing to happen to that franchise was their winning the super bowl with Barry as head coach. That, to Jerry, confirmed that Jones was the "great football mind" behind their success. My how easy it was to fool himself...
  8. Maybe, maybe they did get other offers and this was the best they could do. Yes, starting this earlier would have been wiser, and I do think Jerry should step back from the gm role and just be a silent owner. He clearly knows football, but has little horse sense.
  9. Yes, maybe low round 1 picks, so what? Use one to combine to move up in the draft next year that will have an abundance of talent, by all accounts. You've got Dak and CD paid top dollar, cant pay everyone. Had you paid Mincah earlier, Mincah would have signed the deal he agreed to when met with Jerry, in March, but no, he changed his mind when he brought the deal to his agent.
  10. Of the top 10 leaders in sacks, in league history, only 4 of them have won a super bowl. Cowboys couldn't stop the run the past few years, not even when Pasons, an end, was healthy. Now they get a guy who is very good at stopping the run, plus, 2 1st round draft picks. I really don't have a problem with this trade,
  11. The Dallas Cowboys are trading All-Pro edge rusher Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers in exchange for a compensation package of 2026 and 2027 first-round picks and three-time Pro Bowler Kenny Clark, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Tom Pelissero and Jane Slater report The Dallas Cowboys are trading All-Pro edge rusher Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers in exchange for a compensation package of 2026 and 2027 first-round picks and three-time Pro Bowler Kenny Clark, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Tom Pelissero and Jane Slater reported on Thursday. The Cowboys subsequently announced the trade. Upon arriving in Green Bay, Parsons will sign a four-year, $188 million deal with $136 million guaranteed that will make him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history at $47 million per year, Rapoport, Pelissero and Slater added. The stunning blockbuster trade finalizes a divorce between Parsons and the Cowboys that seemed all but impossible just weeks earlier, even amid a prolonged contract dispute that spilled over into the public eye and grew uglier with each passing week. While Dallas has notoriously developed a habit for waiting to pay its best players, a split between the two parties simply wasn't fathomable because of what was thought to be one simple truth: No team would willingly part with a player of Parsons' caliber, especially not as he's just entering his prime. The Cowboys -- and their owner, Jerry Jones -- felt differently, obviously. As he's done throughout the course of his nearly four decades spent as Cowboys owner (e.g., the 1989 Herschel Walker trade), Jones decided to go against the grain with this deal. In the staring contest between Parsons' representation and Jones, the world-famous owner refused to blink. When trade interest was leaked this week, Parsons told Slater he and his team went back to the Cowboys regarding an extension but were met with a response of, "play on the fifth year or leave." https://www.nfl.com/news/micah-parsons-packers-cowboys-trade
  12. I know he is a good team guy, but jeepers, 35 years with one franchise is a bit much, next thing ya know they will put him in the ring of honor
  13. To quote my old coach; nicely done!
  14. He is rarely healthy, but he did have a very good camp and pre-season.
  15. A pretty good break down https://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/ravens-roster-cuts-53-takeaways-2025
  16. Maybe they can nab Henden Hooker for the ps squad, I think he still qualifies...
  17. I'm sure JAD will come back to the ps squad, hopefully Leary won't
  18. Oh I know, but then the Ravens were lying about Lamar's foot....
  19. Cleveland has shown he can play well when given the chance to play. His issue has always been practice and that, largely because of personal issues he seems to have overcome. He can play guard or center, and do so adequately. Vinson is not a beast but he will do in a pinch, finish a game maybe start 1 or 2. Same for Noteboom. Bullock has shown promise at center, he is a little better power blocker, a bit weak in pass blocking right now, but I expect him to get better. I also would not be surprised to see him supplant our current center next year if Lindy prices him self off of the roster.
  20. True, the experienced depth on the line is not great, shoot, even most of the starters are young, very young. But there are 8, 9 guys who are solid, some are very good at run blocking, others at pass blocking. Time, playing time is needed for them to round out as it were. But I don't think it is as bleak as some think. Sure, Mekari, the Swiss army knife is gone, but he will really all they had the past few years. Now they have a few at each position.
  21. Well, Lamar is still the great equalizer to help out a weak pass blocking line
  22. The only place they are not deep is at wr and to a lesser extent, defensive end. We won't likely see their final roster until after 4 pm tomorrow
  23. Marcel broke it down well, as did Chase Daniels, all of his games as well as some of the other rookie qbs Fact of the matter is, if not for his name, there would not be much ado about him, then again, they made a huge deal about Trey Lance, but I digress
  24. Doesn't take much to make a camper happy
  25. As expected, Shefty trying to keep his status as the man going amidst the plethora of people now using the you tube and the ticky tocky, and the other ones to become famous... Now for the cuts and ps squad
