  1. It's not him papa, I wil argue that till the cows come home, then cook them for dinner. If no one is open, if they keep cutting off their routes, not even Brady could complete passes. I think we have seen the evidence this year from him with the crappy wide outs he has worked with. Statistcly, the past year & a half are his worst, Brady I am speaking of now. He went off today, sure, but then it was the bears.
  2. Yes, you read it correctly. I/we have been saying for decades, that this team has no weapons on offense, outside. If it ever was so obvious, it was today, even when Flacco had time, no one, NONE, not even in five sets, got open. In the chance they did, it was too late, the route run too slow. There is no quickness on this team, oh except for the 100 year old steve smith, who has some quicks. Sanu, the Bengals second receiver is better than anyone the Ravens have or have had since way back in 1996. Time to stop trying to develop receivers, not matter the coaching staff, they can't get it done so oviously it must be the person chosing these crappy receivers. So, time to give up the draft for Kevin White (WVA), he should be coming out. If you do not know the name, he is the best receiver in college football, yes, even better than the Bama "stud"... White has very good speed, he has size, he has big hands, he has a catch radious of about 3 miles. Best of all, he fights for the ball, he gets off the jam with ease. Next, grabb a receiver with quickness, incredible quickness. One who has great toughness in the mold of Steve Smith, only much younger,,,,, from Cinci, Shaq Washington. Strong, great at getting off of press and can this boy do the jig like a june bug, he has broken many anckles with his quicks. Did I mention he has great hands and is very, very quick? Next, they need to get more athletic at tight end. Even if Pita comes back he is not very athletic nor will be with the gimpy hip. So go grab, on day two likely, Pharaoh Brown from Oregon. Big strong, fast, a catch radius of about 4 miles, with strong hands, a match up nightmare. That should do it for the draft, walk away enjoy the offensive show next year. Enough of drafting defense, it clearly doesn't work. Two safeties in the past two years, both suck, can't cover, can't tackle. Every time this team plays a physical defense outside, the receivers are no where to be found, believe me now? So go get real receivers.
  3. Bernard Pierce is a healthy scratch for this game. I wonder, could he be trade bait? Or, is he just in the dog house? I know they needed roster spots, but this is an odd move going with just two running backs......
  4. Time to see if they made the right choice in the draft with the high pick of Crocket Gilmore.......
  5. Ever go after a wounded animal that was backed into a corner? The Bengals had 15 players on the injury report yesterday, only one player, Rey Mauluga is listed as out for the game. The others either left practice early or only had a full practice once the past two days. Ravens don't play that well, consistantly, on the road, the Bengals are desperate.... Barring any more injury news from today's practice, I'll take the Bengals and spot the Ravens 9 points for $400 Merv.....
  6. My thoughts as well. It is the perfect "cover". He is aging quickly, been at this a long time and now has two Super Bowl wins. An easy way to say he is retiring without alerting the general public to the fact he knows and thinks the handling of the Rice situation was wrong.
  7. This should be interesting. Ozzie will be under oath, does he continue with his statement of Ray being completely honest, describing exactly what was on the tape or does he skirt the issue with; "it is my opinion....." If he does stand fast, that would call out Biscut and Goody at the same time.... hmmmm
  8. 1) We agree on more than you realize. 2) You are missing what I stated, once again- Suggs and Dumervil, ends, have not been consistant this year, so far, nor at all last season. 3) I have stated from game one how much I thought of the interior linemen, including, especially McPhee and that he and they were the ones getting the pressure on qb's... 4) I stated that both Suggs & Dumervil were usually, this year, blocked by a tackle, Dumervil usually with just a tight end. Those were my statements, for the season, not just for one game, as it has happened thus far. Please, stop trying to argue with me and prove me wrong, since it obviously blinds you to what I state.
  9. Um, not so fast my friend.... As well as Joe has played, it is not better than Manning, P, who is completing 68.3% of his passes, 2nd best in the NFL, to Flacco's 63.7 %. Manning 19 tds to Flacco's 14, 3 picks for Manning to 5 for Joe... Yes, close, even the yards, 1790 to 1793 for Manning... All this equals a qbr of 117 for Manning to 97 for Joe.... Still very good numbers and shows how good, again, Joe can be and is, with a decent offensive line... They are not on par with Denver in pass protection, dispite the fact both have been sacked 8 times, but then Joe doesn't have the weapons of Manning. VA, I think it will tell more about the offensive line & receivers more so than Joe. As we saw with Manning in the Super Bowl, even with the best weapons, if the line can't block nor the receivers get open, who is throwing the ball matters not....
  10. Correct, they have been holding him, one reason he has been so mentally down
  11. It is rare I repsond to you because all you know how to do is call people names. I may b wrong going forward, so what, but as it stands today, I am perfectly correct. Try discussing, intelligently, football...
  12. That has nothing to do with what I said. Anyone can get a sack even for a safety if they are not being blocked. Suggs has his sacks against poor offensive lines. Just like last year, all his sacks cam in the first half of the season, the easy part, and he was no where to be found, nor was Dumervil, in the second half of the season. We shall see if he and Dumrvil can get consistant pressure with the way the middle of the line is playing.
  13. Hearing for Rice is set for Nov 5-6th... I find it very interesting that Goody is loking to reduce the suspension of Aldon Smith for, ready, good behavior......http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2237617-aldon-smiths-suspension-reportedly-may-be-shortened-by-1-2-games Yet Rice, who was on very good behavior prior to the second suspension, is still on indefinate suspension....... You go Goody....... drugs, guns, drunk driving isn't as bad as hitting a woman.....
  14. Crav, Tampa did not play press man coverage, light bump & run and zone only. The only improvement in Torrey was the last touchdown catch last week end, over the shoulder. Could it be a sign he is getting it? Maybe, usually he struggles with that type of pass. In that game, Torrey played well, again though, only when the Falcons went to zone or soft man coverage. The last td pass, was a difficult catch not just because it was over his head, but because of the coverage, very tight. So, again, maybe he is finally turning the corner, but one catch, two games against the league's worst defenses do not mean anything unless he can repeat it against better defenses. That pass he drew a penalty on, also hit him right in the hands. Almost impossible catch? Yes, but hey, as they say, if it hits your hands you have to catch it.... I like Torrey, hope he gets it but I will reserve my take until I see him do it against tight coverage, fight for the ball and get off the line of scrimmage when pressed...
  15. Suggs is getting blocked by one man, usually the tackle, some times, the tight end. He is rarely, if ever double teamed to the term, "blocked so much" so does not apply. I was shocked to see Dumervil with 7 sacks on the season. Why? Because he has been a no show in big games, or in times when the defense really needs a sack. He is usually blocked by a tight end, sometimes by a tackle, but like Suggs, rarely, if ever, double teamed. I expect those two to turn up more in games, in big drives now because of how well McPhee is playing along with Williams and Dino Nuggets . They need to lock up McPhee now, not let him hit the oen market...
  16. Yes, I guess I will since right now, it is the truth as the team sits this year. Against teams who play press coverage, the offense, struggles because the receivers can't get off the line of scrimmage. Against teams with a good offensive line, the defensive line can't get pressure, most times, not even with blitzing. Not every team uses press coverage, some just run a soft pump & run, others, a little stronger at the line of scrimmage. Will the Ravens recievers get better at this? T Smith has not and he has had plenty of practice. Only Smith sr and Daniels right now, show they can make the contested catch; not good... I said 6 wins at the begining of the season for this reason and because of the lack or real pressure from the defense against good offensive lines. Do I now expect them to win only one more of the nine games left? It would't surprise me.....
  17. Hold the phone, they beat on a terrible offensive line with their 3rd string center in this last game. The one before, same issue, a terrible offensive line... Just like last year, Dumervil & Suggs make their living off poor teams and are no where to be found when it matters.....
  18. They beat teams that play soft zone and simple man coverage with no pump & run nor press coverage..They beat teams with weak offenses, weak offensive lines...... Against teams who play strong press coverage and bump & run zone, they lose. Against teams with good offensive lines, they lose. Will they get better? Sure, I hope so, but right now, Cinci is likely to beat them again because they have a good offensive line and a strong secondary.
  19. Wow, after all the hub-bub of how great he was going to be there, especially this season since he would (finally) be healthy, they trade him to the J-E-T-S, for a conditional pick next year (from a 2nd to a 4th) http://espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/story/_/id/11718459/seattle-seahawks-trade-percy-harvin-new-york-jets He must be a problem child to get traded twice... A refresher of what Seattle gave up for him- Good luck Jets,,, likely another bad move by their inept GM...
  20. The roster moves should be interesting, does Camp sit if Brown comes back or does another receiver? Who sits if Cody is on the active roster? Christo Bilukidi jus got here, played pretty well I thought, stats won't show it, but he ate up blockers and pushed the pocket. Wonder why he sat? I would rather him that Cody on the team.
  21. Im stupid because this game is easy............. The Ravens have been consistant in one thing- being inconsistant. With that said, I expect a close game to start, maybe even a trade scoring first half with the two pourus secondaries. But a Ravens win in the second half....
  22. The potential is there, he is a very good blitzer that is for sure. However, playing linebacker, as you know, is far more than blitzing.
  23. Ok, I have to ask, I do apologize for asking. Are you a tween, a teen, a young adult or a thirty something + ? I ask because your reading comprehension and quick twitch to fire seems to indicate the former two, rather than the latter two. Anywho, I did not mention him directly, you are correct there. However, in my first response and subsequent second post in this thread, on top of all of our discussions on this defense in other threads, including on where Hill was discussed, I gave my opinion on the defense over all, which, most inteintelligentotball wise, person could infer that no, the addition of one safety is not likely to improve the pass defense because there is larger issues at hand that make this pass defense, stink. As I said in those other threads, yes which you were apart of, the Ravens do not have a safety on the active roster, who can cover, and in this thread, a corner, nickel nor dime back who can cover, yes, I know I am leaving out the slightly injured/bad back corner, who may or may not get back to his form.
  24. Have to give one to some one the stats will not show; Dino Nugget, or better know as DeAngelo Tyson. The young man was a beast pushing the pocket eating, consitantly, two blockers on each play. Between he and Ngata, they accounted for four blockers on the line, enabling the linebacker blitzes to get home. The injury to Canty may be a blessing in disguise, the defensive line yesterday, Williams, Ngata and Dino Nugget was almost 1,000 lbs combined.
  25. It is very difficult to call a defense, even an offense when up by so much. There is the "fear" of giving up big plays, or going 3 & out on the offensive side. So Pees did something "smart", by playing the "prevent" with a twist, he called multiple blitzes on almost ever play to try and force the ball out quicker. It worked for the most part, giving up 17 points and yards. I can't really blame him for the way the secondary played in the 2nd half.
