  1. It really depends which bone in his wrist or hand he broke. I broke my scaphoid right before my junior year of high school. I was able to play the season with it, but it required surgery after the season and had a lengthy rehabilitation process. I never regained full range of motion in my hand (wrist), and it zapped me of functional strength. I still have a metal rod in that hand/wrist today. Doesn't bother me for the most part, but it will get sore and inflamed from time to time. Lots of small bones in your wrist and hand, you can play through some of them. But if you don't address the injury, its easy for blood to get cut off to the bone and the bone to die.
  2. Perriman is a risky pick and would probably be criticized, however, I am a risk taker and I would be excited big time!
  3. This topic is an incredible read! I have no idea how you know all of this, but yes, you should definitely write a book, TBird!
  4. I would rather draft a couple of receivers and go into training camp with an open competition of what we have.
  5. I'm sure that "source" that said the Ravens were interested was Crabtree's agent. You don't think Harbaugh called his brother to ask about Crabtree? If Crabtree was a worthwhile gamble Harbaugh would be the first to know. We didn't even bring him in for a visit. Glad we passed...
  6. Awesome post TBird. I watched some highlights of Jones and the guy had a rope for a right arm. Sounds like the type of player that could have played and been a star in any era. Were the expectations high for the Colts going into the 1978 season? I'd imagine after solid 76 and 77 seasons having a 27 year old MVP at QB, Jones was expected to take that next step and be on his way to an all time great.
  7. I'm reading about Bert Jones. This is from his wiki page: "The widely respected scout Ernie Accorsi is quoted as saying that if Bert Jones had played under different circumstances, he probably would have been the greatest player ever. John Riggins has been quoted as saying Bert was the toughest competitor he has ever witnessed. On the eve of Super Bowl XLII New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, in discussing his choices for the greatest quarterbacks of all time, described Jones as the best "pure passer" he ever saw." An NFL MVP at 25 years old. The guy seemed like a stud. For the old timers here: how good were those Colts teams from 1975-1977? I saw they got demolished by the Steelers twice in the playoffs, and lost a heart breaker to the Raiders. Were those teams serious Super Bowl contenders? Seems like a real shame how injuries got to him in 1978 and 1979. Was he just not the same when he came back in 1980?
  8. Makes my head explode. Jai Reid has been one of my least favorite Ravens right up there with David Reed and Terrance Cody. Reid was actually a negative asset to us last year considering he put Urban on the IR in training camp.
  9. Wow thanks for posting that. Detailed analysis. I wonder how the Ravens see Strong?
  10. I agree. Would have liked to see Irsay leave the history in Baltimore, but what can you do?
  11. I like Diggs a lot. I think he could contribute immediately as a slot receiver. Not the tallest guy but large catching radius with enormous mitts.
  12. Mid-second to early-third rounder? It will depend on when the run of receivers happens.
  13. Very similar physical numbers to Odell Beckham Jr. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/dc-sports-bog/wp/2015/02/19/stefon-diggs-flashes-his-inner-odell-beckham-jr-with-one-handed-catches/
  14. That's wasn't just his mock draft, that was his big board! He even had Perriman ABOVE Parker (9 and 10, respectively). I will give Kiper credit for having Perriman as a first round pick before anyone even had him on their board, but in the top ten of all the players in the draft, above Parker nonetheless, is bold. I think there is going to be a run on offensive linemen and the WRs will fall. It's a deep class for WRs so I think teams will pass given its a shallow draft at other positions.
  15. You're missing the point here: because of age Yanda might be worth $4M a year while someone gives KO $9M a year (just giving an example on the numbers not accurate). Yanda's bonus will be significantly less than KO's. No way Yanda gets a five year deal with a big bonus number, as you use in yor example. If he demands that, we'll let him go for a comp pick.
  16. I don't know anything about Jones. How is he as a football player?
  17. I was talking money wise. Length is irrelevant as long as it's structured right. But yes, if the money is equal I would obviously take KO. However, the money will not be equal.
  18. The effects of being in the Big Ten! The Under Armour influence l, and it's emergence in the basketball world (MVP candidate Seth Curry is UA's biggest name), doesn't hurt either. The Big Ten is a national conference. Terps wouldn't have gotten this caliber of prospect in the ACC.
  19. Yanda is probably cheaper to extend at this point in his career. I could see someone giving KO silly money like Bem Grubbs a few years back.
  20. I think Elam at this will be restricted to being a "big nickelback". In the box, pressing the slot receiver, blitzing.
  21. We bought low on Bernard Pollard from Houston, maybe Lewis is next.
  22. I can't wait to see what happens with these receivers. Parker would be an awesome pick for us. My brother said the Kentucky Wildcats specifically recruited taller corners to try and guard Parker because he torched them every time they played. Not sure if it's true but funny nonetheless. I was wondering the same thing about DGB. I looked up his history the other day and he was accused of pushing his girlfriend's roommate down a flight of stairs. Never proven or never charged, however I don't think the Ravens can afford to take on any sort of press regarding domestic violence even if it's not true. However, I heard on the Moving the Sticks podcast that Oklahoma sources raved about DGB and stated he was an excellent teammate for the year he practiced with Oklahoma. Who knows what the Ravens think.
  23. This is what I'm hoping as well. A team jumps on DGB and Perriman and Strong falls to us. Maybe even Parker falls far enough where we could trade up for him. Wishful thinking though... Edit: Ravens are bringing Parker in for a visit. http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/ravens-insider/bal-louisville-wide-receiver-devante-parker-to-visit-ravens-sources-say-20150326-story.html Something to keep an eye on!
  24. I tend to agree, from what I've seen of him he doesn't look like he's running fast. However, he's always running by people. Also the 20 YPC is very impressive. Maybe that's just his running style? Makes it difficult to guess whether it translate. Regardless, I'm positive teams are going to go back and double watch his tape to see if they missed anything. Perriman would be one of those picks where it would be questionable, however, it would be hard not to get excited.
  25. @AlbertBreer: Clubs had Breshad Perriman running BOTH his 40s in the 4.2s, which is incredibly rare for a player who's 6-foot-2 and 212 pounds. @Lions: Son of former Lion Brett Perriman: http://t.co/ZaR1ZkzoJwMT @UCF_Football: Breshad Perriman's 40 clocked 4.22-4.27! https://t.co/E5nCU4mKhD
