  1. I think Bisciotti would be the first person to tell you where he is as an owner today is light years ahead of where he was ten years, even five years ago. I'm sure Bisciotti today wouldn't have given Billick the extension. On the same token Bisciotti made the gut decision to fire Billick one year into the deal. How many owners would have done that and ate that dead cash? Ended up winning us a Super Bowl and many playoff games. Remember Billick only won ONE playoff game after the 2000 Super Bowl, and that was the year after. No playoff wins after that. It you want to talk getting duped, we are lucky that Jason Garrett turned down the job. Bisciotti was ready to hand him the keys to the kingdom.
  2. I've always joked to friends a football coach is really nothing more than an excellent car salesman. It's even worse on the college level with college telling recruits anything to get them to commit.
  3. We have two openings at QB and RB coach. I'm sure the OC will have input.
  4. I'd rather spend the money elsewhere. We can get a few receivers through the draft. These guys are going to cost too much and we need to sign Torrey long-term.
  5. John has dropped his share of bombs that are lip readable on TV. His behavior is no where near Jim's however. Like I said John keeps the locker room together. You didn't hear one peep this season during a losing streak or when our offense was sucking up a storm. Our guys came out and fought week in and week out. Last year wasn't smooth either but Harbaugh rallies the guys. Harbaugh had a 9-7 year in there too where he got our guys through it. In comparison when Billick had a bad year we'd hear rumors of revolt every week. Give Jim a bad year and see what happens. It's inevitable every coach has one.
  6. Ravens have interviewed boy wonder Kyle Shanahan according to Aaron Wilson. Keeping Castillo, and interviewing Kubiak and Shanahan looks for sure we will be in a zone scheme next year.
  7. I can't stand Jim: The sideline theatrics, the reaming of officials, the poor sportsmanship. He's the easy pick now over John but he's the type of personality that is going to burn out quick when he has a bad season. Every coach has a bad season, how will Jim do with holding a locker-room together when everything is not rosy? John has proven he can keep a locker-room together. Jim is a hot head and IMO is sure to clash with players when his team loses. I'll take John.
  8. I looked at some other of the OC hires where only the OC was being replaced, Miami and NYG, and just the OC came in. We have an open position at RB coach, I'm sure Kubiak would have input. Juan Castillo runs a similar scheme so I'm sure they can work together.
  9. Now we know why the Browns didn't release Turner from contract. They want to control where he goes and make sure we don't get him. Good move on their part. He probably ends up in Minny. Sounds like the Browns themselves are waiting for the Seahawks and or Niners assistants to be freed up. Kubiak is by far our best option. Proven success running the ball and his scheme fits with Castillo. They can make it work together. This is a deal that has to happen.
  10. Might as well, Harbaugh, Childress, Castillo, reunite the old crew.
  11. We had requested an interview too. Can't blame McAdoo for taking the Giants job right away. Caughlin is getting up there in age. A couple of good seasons and McAdoo could be their next HC. Nonetheless encouraging sign that we are looking external.
  12. Norv will probably be released once a new coach is hired.
  13. Brad Childress would be a Harbaugh/Philly guy. Norv Turner is still under contract with the Browns. We will have to wait until the Browns hire their new coach to see if he's let go. I would like Zorn a lot. Don't think the Chiefs would block a promotion. Kubiak is an interesting suggestion. The Packers QB coach, McAdop, is a hot, up and coming name.
  14. Evans is a stone cold badass so I wouldn't mind him. I am curious what his 40 time will be. However Kennan Allen this last draft ran a bad 40 and he tore it up for the Chargers this year. I agree Money I think grabbing a couple of receivers with different skill sets is a good idea.
  15. Got my X1 on Friday and man I love it! I am a cord cutter (no cable, only Internet, HD OTA, and Hulu Plus & Netflix) so X1 ties together my entire entertain system. My current setup is: HD OTA box with an HDMI out going into my Xbox. The Xbox goes HDMI out into my Samsung soundbar, and the soundbar goes HDMI out into my Samsung LED TV. The Xbox via IR blast turns everything on and off and can control volume. No more need for a remote! The Xbox can move seamlessly between TV, Blue Ray, games, and apps (even two two at once). As for the system itself, Call of Duty looks and sounds great. I worked through the campaign a bit. Definitely a good game for $47. Nonetheless I'm waiting for the true next gen experience, TitanFall.
  16. Pitta is already 29. He is a great player who probably still has some potential to get better however I wouldn't go overboard.
  17. If Sammy Watkins is there at our pick it be very difficult to pass him up. Watkins would certainly validate BPA. Watkins would give us another speed threat on the outside, letting us move Torrey to the slots on some downs creating major mismatches for the defense (think of how the Steelers use their speed guys). Other than Watkins, at this early point I'm not sure if another WR would be a BPA. I would rather go after Brandon Cooks in the second round. Joe needs his own Wes Welker, Andrew Hawkins, or TY Hilton. When Stokley was healthy, Joe threw to him a lot. We are really lacking a shorter, quick, slot receiver. Cooks has tremendous productivity. That is the type of receiver we need to go after. Not sure if we need a big receiver. Marlon Brown is going to be vastly improved another year healed from ACL surgery and a full offseason in an NFL weight room. He can fill the big possession receiver, red-zone threat. All Torrey Smith needs is an offensive coordinator who can get him the ball more on screens and quick slants to keep DBs guessing.
  18. I think you're right, not much out there that's superficially designed for next-gen, outside of Killzone for PS4. I never really understood the whole console wars (until South Park of course). So I agree with you both consoles look great. I was considering PS4. Their exclusives look great: Drake, The Order 1886 and Last of Us. However I've always been an Xbox guy and the TV entertainment center integration features of the Xbox stood out to me (the wife has trouble turning on my entertainment system haha and the X1 should streamline this). If I was just going from a pure gaming perspective, I probably would have gotten a PS4. Bottom line, the more multi-console games the better IMO.
  19. I pulled the trigger and ordered an X1. I bought Ghosts with it, only $47 on Amazon. Nothing out right now looks great, so I just needed something to hold me over until TitanFall comes out in March. Pretty excited to get everything set up this weekend!
  20. Two years on the practice squad isn't as much money as you'd think. Expecially after Uncle Sam and Annapolis take their cuts. Still a good amount of money, but nothing to retire off of.
  21. Aaron Wilson just tweeted that Bisciotti released a statement saying they re-worked DeCosta's contract last year where he will be "off the market for the next few years." Or something to that extent.
  22. I will say this: Flacco's best year by far was when Jim Zorn was his QB coach. Cam was the OC but Zorn kept on Joe's mechanics consistently. Joe liked Zorn a lot too. Zorn was a tall QB in the NFL as well so he knew what Joe goes through. I wouldn't mind having Zorn back...
  23. Caldwell could be a Snyder guy. High profile guys won't want to coach under Snyder as they won't have control. A more low key guy like Caldwell could be what he is looking for.
  24. http://m.baltimoreravens.com/mediaItem.html?media-id=796606&media-type=N Another good cap article. Looks like Leach, McClain, Koch and Suggs are likely to be cut. As far as getting a WR. IMO we need another quick, speed guy. Marlon Brown can be the big target and redzone threat we need. Remember Marlon was less than a year off of ACL surgery. As an undrafted rookie, he is only going to get better with a full offseason in an NFL weight and film room. Either get another speed receiver like Sammy Watkins which will allow us to put Torrey in the slot more often to create mismatches, or get a small slot receiver like Andrew Hawkins or Wes Welker. That is what our offense needs!
  25. Woodley carries over $14M in dead money if cut. He's been restructured twice, and his deal signed as recent as 2011. Ike will save you only a little less than $4M because he's been restructured twice since 2011 as well. With your depth at CB, will you really cut Ike? You still have the cost of restricted free agents and getting guys to replace the players you cut for the 52 man roster. As it is right now you only have 43 men under contract. Are you really going to fill 10+ spots with draft picks and league minimum guys? Extending Ben's deal with how many times he's been restructured is going to catch up with you guys.
