Hey Crav, Tend to agree w/you on Cundiff. BTW- Is Stover still out there ? After we let Cundiff or Graham go, its too bad we couldn't have Stover in the bullpen (for laer in the year). Just sayin.

Finally watched the reply last night and some parting thoughts: 1. Flacco and the O look good, esp in the no huddle offense. Joe is starting to throw more confidently across the middle although a few balls are still behind receivers (e.g. TD pass to Boldin). Otherwise, Joe and the O looked strong. 2. The O line looked decent though it gave up a few to many sacks. Blind side Big Mike needs to get the count down better. In the reg season, those false starts absolutely can kill drives. Dont think Rex and Jets arent watching this stuff. 3. WRs - Boldin is the real deal. We need more like him. Too bad Stallworth went down. Time for Dwill and Clayton to step up. Bonehead penalty by Mason before half. Inexcusable for a veteran like Dmase. Cant do this crap in reg season. 4. Encouraging play from Heap - we need that kind of Heap all season and NO INJURIES. 5. ST Play - Solid throughout. PK choice will be tough. Cundiff seems to have the edge. 6. DL- Looks solid but a bit spotty on a few Jacobs and Bradshaw runs, shades of few years ago (?). We need Cody to get healthy. 7. LB- JJ looks great. Ray looked a bit tired. Maybe the 4 pre season game schedule is taking its toll. The others - Ellerbe, McClain, Gooden - need to step up huge. 8. CB- still looks weak although Fab Wash play and energy was inspiring. The other side, w/Carr, is ok but a bit scary to watch. Carr is fine in certain situations but we need Webb back for the season opener- no ands ifs or buts about it ! 9. Safety - Nak played great. The guy is a player and could be the next Reed. He has a nose for the ball. Zib looked slowere and was beat big time in first half - luckily Eli missed his WR (Smith I think). Nak needs more playing time while Reed is on the mend. Landry got worked -one so so game for him. No big deal. 10. Overall, the team looks ready (as its going to be). If I'm Harbs I am not playing any starter more than 1 series. Period. Time to rest and get ready for the F-Bomb dropper and the J-E-T-S. Go Ravens !

Max et al, Finally watched game tape last night. My thoughts (though I dont much stock in pre season): 1. Offense flat, sluggish, out of sync. 2. Flacco still looks tentative, uncomfortable 3. OL looks crappy. we need Gaither back big time and soon. Yesterday was too late ! 4. Bulger has na unbelievable release, accurate arm. Damn lucky to have em ! 5. WR corps looks good. Boldin and Stallworth look as good as advertised. 6. DL is tough, will stuff run all yr (barring major injuries). 7. LB corps looked slow, disorganized, confused and overmatched. Coverage stunk. Maybe Ray is pacing himself. 8. Pass rush was there, will need more intensity and consistency. 9. Secondary play - outside of Cary Williams, Zib and Nak - was embarrasing. I'll say it for the 1000th time: Ozzie has screwed up two years in a row by not drafting a CB in the first few rounds. L Webb was a mid -late round stroke of luck. Our CB play will haunt us another year and may yet again prevent us from taking thge next step. 10. ST Play looked solid. Cundiff looks better (than Graham), Parmele looks good. Koch isa beast on the punting game. What was up with the fake punt/Nak run ? It was awesome but maybe could hav ebeen saved for reg season ? Like all 32 teams, we've got work to do. Looking for a better showing against G-men on Saturday, esp on Offense and secondary play. Oh, and no injuries ( esp to the OL and secondary ).

Good debate: Camp Creampuff vs Camp Hardb(all) ? Need a poll ? Also, whose next on the golf cart ?
Another Ravens offensive lineman was hurt Wednesday when right tackle Oniel Cousins was carted off the field at training camp in Westminster. The nature of his injury is unknown. Cousins was starting at right tackle for Jared Gaither, who was sidelined with a back injury. Tony Moll has replaced Cousins at right tackle. Other Ravens offensive linemen who are currently injured are center Matt Birk, tackle Stefan Rodgers, guard Daniel Sanders and tackle/guard David Hale. http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/blog/2010/08/oniel_cousins_carted_off_field_at_camp.html
Geez Louise ! What's going on here with Coach Harbs - these guys are dropping like flies. Dang, whose next; Todd Heap or Gaither (oh wait a minute, he is already down !). This is getting ridiculous. Now I understand why we are resting Ray Rice in these games. If I were Harbs, I might just sit my 1st team offense for the remaining pre-season games. Nah, but this is getting insane.
-
Ah yeah; Colt Brennan I believe. I am looking forward to the Deadskins game saturday. Since we dont play them again this year, we could take bragging rights again. Whoopee !!!
-
Thanks Max! Do you know the status of Nqata and Hale ? Man, our guys are droppng like flies. What a contrast from Camp Creampuff, huh ?
-
Max, Agreed. Our Super Bowl window opens every year, right ?

Its a forgone conclusion that our biggest weaknesses are at CB and OT (Gaither's spot). The CB position is obviously the biggest concern, the OT position looms large as well. What are the chances we make a trade for a CB ? Or do we just bite the bullet, cross our fingers that Wash and Webb recover, and ride it out this season with whta we have ? Gaither continues to be a enigma. Is he our RT or LT, this year or in the future ? It seems a bit murky. Either way, we need some cohesion and stability on the OL to protect Joe amd support our expanding passing attack. Thoughts anyone ?
-
I wonder if Webb (slow) and F Wash (fast) are recovering more quickly than first thought. Maybe with the Hawkins and Doug Dutch (aka Yugo) pickup, Ozzie and Co are feeling a bit better about CB.
-
Hmmh... could this signal the end of the Doug Dutch era ?
-
Whose talking starting CB ? We got us a Yugo !
-
The Ravens traded fourth-string quarterback John Beck to the Washington Redskins for cornerback Doug Dutch, who was on the Redskins' practice squad last season. This marks the first player trade between the regional rivals. Dutch, 24, is 5 feet 11, 199 pounds. He was undrafted coming out of Michigan in 2009 and was added to the Redskins' practice squad in November. This move adds depth to the Ravens' injury-filled cornerback group. I get this for depth but damn is that all we could get. For goodness sakes, Beck, for a foreskins practice squad CB. In case sales, thats like trading in a used, mid size dependable Toyota or Honda for a dang Yugo. I wasnt expect a starting CB or even a 2nd teamer, but s practice squad CB ? The Dutch era begins !! Cmon Ozzie !
-
Was he actually practicing or just on the field ?

Mike and Mike have our boys at 11-5 withe the biggest Q marks with our secondary (bigger concern) and Flacco's continued development. Our banged up secondary (they didnt even mention Foxworth) was the biggest Q mark. Most of the discussion this morning on the Jets and Revis situation. It pains me to hear about the Jets CB depth and how we are looking at the Cb scrap heap. I am still of the strong opinion that we have ignored this position (in the draft) and we are now feeling the bite in the damn butt. It may be "water under the bridge" but we are going to pay this season, esp against the likes of Palmer, Brady, Brees, Schaubs of the world. Our offense has got to come up huge this year - Flacco, Ray Rice and Boldin will need all pro years !
-
When I arrived at camp Friday afternoon, the QBs were running a series of drills. Meanwhile, Gaither was being attended to by a trainer. Gaither was wincing while stretching his lower back. It didnt seem very serious (from an observer standing 30-40 yds away). My personal take: I think there is something to this Gaither thing - more than what we are hearing. He is saying all the right stuff but his body language and actions dont match up. Gaither just needs to get right, get back on the field with the rest of the O line. With the injuries to our D, our offense has to be clicking right out of the gates. Our O line - Gaither, Birk et al - needs to be healthy and cohesive right out of the gate. Anything less will put tnis team in a tough spot, esp with the season opener (Jets) and divsion rival (Cincy) just about 6 weeks away.
-
Max, I agree with many of your observations. I thought Flacco and Bulger looked solid as starter and backup. The entire O looked good. Willis looked very quick and in shape. The 3 WRs look sharp. Demetrious and Clayton looked tentative. The D looked sharp except for the CBs. Carr, Miller and Travis Fisher are all small. We are in deep doo doo if Washington and Webb arent ready by season opener. Cincys WRs would absolutely embarras our current CBs. I know Ozzie and Co are working it 24-7 for a CB pickup. Frank Walker scares the crap out of me. Maybe Ozzie can work his magic again ?! Overall, the team appears to have a lot of good chemistry in camp. Even Harbaugh and Cam were hamming it up. If we can get the CB situation fixed (sans Frank Walker) and the O-Line (Gaither, Birk) get healty soon, it could be successful year. Sorry we didnt hook up, Max. Maybe I can catch you a few home games. GO RAVENS !!!!

Its official, Showalter to manage Orioles

"The power of Christ compells you" as I recall. It will take the power of the holy spirit and then some to resurrect this broken, sad team. -
I wonder how he'll do in night games; zzzzzzzz ?!
-
Yep and, as Been and maybe others pointed out, makes Cincy the AFCN favorite. I am not so sure they already werent the favorite for the AFCN. After all, they swept the AFCN last year, had a very good draft, and now pick up TO. They should be considered the favrite to win the division.

Crav, Was that (salad) his punishment ?

According to Fab Washington (Carrol County Times (http://www.carrollcountytimes.com/sports/ravens/article_49ad205a-9a40-11df-b827-001cc4c03286.html), Cody passed conditioning test. Its time to get this guy in the mix !
-
Damn Crav, Are you jinxing these rookies ? ! As far as Cody, hell, a couple days of aerobics, followed by hot yoga ought to do it !
-
I'll look for you guys Sat AM. Are you still wearing your Devard Darling jersey (just kiddin) ?
