Elam is a fish out of water. Haven't seen Brown on the field so the jury is still out on him.

Does anybody think that Ben is going to have a field day?
varaven45 replied to Tornado700's topic in Baltimore Ravens
Aftet Howdy Doody and Sanu lit up our D, in critical situations no less, Ben and A Brown will have epic games. It'll get ugly and early.. Harbs would be wise to pound the rock, to keep Joe upright and Ben off the field. -
And when it comes to abandoning the run. the Ravens are in big, big company. All coaches and OCs get a boner from the verticall phase and prematurely abandon the run game. It won't happen, but with our Swiss cheese secondary, I would have Forset, Pierce and Taliefero run the ball 40-50 times on Sunday night. Take some heat off the D, give Joe a little balance in the offense, and establish our 3 headed monster. It won't happen, Joe will pass 40-50 times on Sunday night and he'll pass on 3rd or 4th and 1. Yep, it'll happen and that's damn frustrating but it's what we do and most of the league does.

Always lots of play but when we look back at the season - later this year - many of us will reflect on this game and season changing plays that might have been..
-
We lost the game when Jimmy left. They really picked on Franks especially on their last TD drive. Brooks was also in the game and didn't do well. Julio Jones scored on Franks last week. Agree 150 %. They had Sanu and w/o Jimmy we had no answer. Still, we were a borderline OPI call and/or 4th and goal TD from Cincy from winning this game . All said, there's a damn fine (ultra thin) line between winning and losing. Had the refs not called OPI or we stop the Bengals on 4th and goal, the media would be anointing us us the AFCN champs and the Bengals would have been judged losers, underachievers, Marvin would have been done and their fan base would be talking 2015 draft status. Instead, the Bengals are in fat city, and we are dead in the water. Amazing how 1 or 2 plays can affect a team's season !!!! nto

Yep. Which is why we must absolutely pound the rock in the Burgh Sunday night. And we cannot abandon the run, esp. with our "skeleton crew" of WR/TEs. Yep, pound the dang rock, keep Ben off the field, and when he's on the field, blitz his butt all night. It worked on Matty Ice 2 weeks ago (albeit with a crappy ATL line).

Exactly, or at least give us consistency from week to week. All the calls now are arbitrary and capricious.
-
I go with the majority - and Smith and Bayliss say it should have been a TD. Just like last year's Hail Mary in Bmore where Green scores and sends it into OT. There's a scrum and ten gazillion penalties in the endZone. You let the boys decide the game.
-
Yeah and then we will wake up for the home game against Tennessee. And hopefully Tennessee's rookie quarterback is still spending most of his time doing selfie's in preparation for the game. Will need all the help we can get for that game.
-
Yep. I think the black n gold are poised to reciprocate from the Butt kicking we laid on them last month. We always seem to split with these boys. And with our wounded secondary, I am sure Ben will put up gawdy fantasy type numbers again. When's our bye ?
-
Two Bengal bombs - week1 and today - the difference between us being 7-1 and 5-3. Btw- was Will Hill in on the bombs to Sanu ? Anyone ?
-
Bottom line - we didn't play pissed off enough and as expected the wounded animal came out on top.
-
Yep, I've witnessed this horror show a million times - where the healthy can't miss hot team walks into nearly deads lion's nest, only to get smacked up side tje head. I say the Bengals miraculously and suddenly wake up and lay the wood on us, saving Marvins job and putting them back in the AFCN race. Sees this one too many times !
-
Bingo and we've got to prepare accordingly. We need to bury Cincy and bring it for 60 minutes.
-
Max, I am not buying any of this and If I am Harbaugh I am preparing my troops as if EVERY Stinking Player is 150 %, is bringing the wood on every play, and is playing for their teams life. Oh, and remind them how they were embarrassed in our house week 1. This team has to prepare for a freakin war and nothing less.
-
Yep. Cincy will be in desperation max mode and throwing the damn kitchen sink at us. We will need to play a sound, errorless game - in all 3 phases - to win.
-
T, I agree the OL is the key - it's always the key. No OL = no run = no pass = no win. My comment assumes - with guarded optimism - that we have an established OL. However, given the roller coaster performance of our OL the past 2 years, I too am inclined to take a wait and see approach. Until then, here's hoping for a monster game from the OL, running game and Joe

Cincy will be a good litmus test for Suggs et al

The next 2 games on the road, especially Cincy, will speak volumes about whether Joe has truly turned the corner and can lead this team. I'm pulling for Bazooka Joe

Cincy will be a good test this Sunday

While attending Sundays game, it was pretty neat and classy that the Ravens introuduced Buck Showalter before the game. He received a standing ovation from the 70 k fans. I was impressed and thought it was a classy move. Also, my Falcons buddy, sporting his Matty Ryan jersey, got the obligatory "ribbing" from the homers before and during the game. After lamenting over the 29-7 loss, he got a bit more harmless smack on the way out of the stadium. He later said , all in all, Bmore fans were pretty classy folks. FWIW, i got hammered and heckled by Atlanta fans while at the Ga dome for the Ravens -Falcons tilt back in 2010.

Agree on 1st pick. Torrey has to at least fight for the ball or prevent the dang INT. 2nd all on Joe. He almost threw a 3rd by forcing one into Smith Sr. compared to Carolina and Tampa games, it was not a good day for Joe Cool. He needs to clean this up by Sunday.
-
Yep. And after yesterday's ho hum performance, we need to bring our A game to Cincy.
-
max, your spot on. Against a weak Atl defense, we should have run the ball down their throats. Instead, we farted around and took our foot off the gas. We didn't run block well, which led to a couple of poorly executed pass plays and picks by Joe. We can't pull that crap against the likes of Cincy or Pittsburgh. Let's get our stud OL back in there and get ready to battle the AFCN foes.
-
Max, it all sounds good and hope you are right, especially since I'll be at the game w my Falcon buddy Sunday. Conventional wisdom points to a huge Ravens performance on Sunday. But nothing ....and I mean nothing surprises me anymore. Case in point : how many really saw a 30 point win in Tampa, and similar wins against Pittsburgh and Carolina; Only to lay eggs against Cincy at home and Indy at their joint. Semi-related point: who saw Dallas and their horrible D stealing a win in Seattle, or Carolina playing Cincy to a tie in their house If I've learned anything about this game after playing and watching sports over 40 years, Its that we can expect the unexpected, and savor all the fun moments along the way. Oh and hope the home team comes away with a W on Sunday.
