Didn't you also say that we wouldn't make the playoffs this year? Or if we did we'd be a wildcard at best? Instead we finished 12-4. How many teams that are 12-4 don't have a real shot of going to the Super Bowl? We absolutely have a real shot. Only two teams go, so it's easy to say that we won't, but we have as good a shot this year as we've had in years past. We went 12-4, swept the Steelers, swept our division, won our division, went undeafted at home, and undefeated against playoff teams. We're good and have as good shot at the Super Bowl as anyone else. In fact, I would argue that the Ravens have the best chance because we're the most balanced team in the NFL. We're not as good as The Patriots, Packers, or Saints on offense, and we're not as good as the Broncos or Steelers on defense, however we play good all around football on both sides of the ball. We could end up winning the game with either offense or defense. The only other team that can boast that is the Steelers, and Big Jen is hurting bad.

I really hope that Smith is not a one year wonder. I'd really like to see him develop into something special. I'd also like to see him avoid the WR prima donna bullshit.
-
Suggs owned Skip on that one!

Why would you say such a thing? Sounds like you're rooting against them. They have great shot of going all the way this year. No team in the plaoyoffs are solid both offensively and defensively, so our shortcomings are shared by every other team in the NFL. Yes, even the mighty Packer machine. We're 12-4 with a bye, let's have some confidence and fun!

I had to listen to a Bengals fan lose his mind this past Sunday at the bar I was at. He insisted that Webb committed pass interference on the long toss to AJ Green in the end zone on the last drive. I don't believe there was any pass interference, however if there was any, it was on Green, Webb received a stiff arm to the freakin face lol.
-
Will Cinci exploit the fact that Yanda isn't playing? Can Gurode keep the heat off Flacco? Big question marks, but we only need one big game out of Gurode, just one big game and this team gets a bye. Cmon you giant son of a $%^&*, give us just one awesome game! lol

It doesn't make sense to rush players back. We have Evans and Smith, there's no reason we shouldn't be able to produce with that speed on the field.
-
I agree Max. Unfortunately the one person I'm worried about most hurting this team is has been their undisputed leader since 2000. Hopefully, somehow he can elevate his game, because Hillis didn't rush for 100 yds when Ray was on the bench.

Who cares, Joe is our QB. It's obvious and should be obvious to everyone that Cam is absolutely holding Flacco back. With exclusively Cam at the helm Joe has completely regressed as a QB. If the front office is smart, regardless of the outcome of this season, we move on from Cam Cameron. Maybe Joe isn't ever going to be Manning, or Brady, or Brees, or Rivers, or even that great one Dalton, however he is our QB and will continue to be our QB for the next 5 or so years barring injury of course. Super Bowl winning QBs without stellar careers include: Phil Simms Trent Dilfer Brad Johnson Mark Rypien Doug Williams/Jay Schroeder (Schroeder QB'd most of the season and even some playoff games if I recall correctly) Jim McMahon Toy Aikman (He only had 2 of his 12 seasons with a better than 90 rating and only once threw more than 20 TDs) Eli Manning (He seems to be getting better and better, maybe he doesn't belong) Joe Namath QB's that went to the Super Bowl without Steller Careers: Stan Humpries Boomer Esiason Tony Eason Neil O'Donnell Chris Chandler Jake Delhomme Kerry Collins Rex Grossman Let's also not forget the QB's that were good and never went or won a Super Bowl: Donovan McNabb Steve McNair Matt Hasselbeck Randall Cunningham Dan Marino My point is, who gives a damn if Dalton is better. Screw Dalton, we have Flacco. Flacco is our guy and if some of the names above can make it and win it, so can Flacco. He's got all the same tools. Also, Flacco does play well under pressure and I like a guy that plays well under pressure versus the big gaudy stats. To summarize, Flacco is our guy, Dalton is not. Screw him lol.

I would take Norv Turner as the OC in a heartbeat. Everywhere that guy has gone as an "OC", the offense has been above average. I think however that Flacco would benefit best from an OC that is younger and closer to his age. Just my gut feeling. Not basing it on much, It just seems to me that Flacco would excel more with someone that he can relate to better.

When we sit Ray Lewis, it puts the better athletes on the field. This defense was quick and nasty when Ray was on the sideline.

CBS Sports: Lewis deems himself 'totally healthy'
yagersports replied to ExtremeRavens's topic in News Feeds
Funny that these news articles are popping up, the Sun had a silly one stating that Pagano feels Ray didn't miss a beat. No way Pagano believes that. No way. -
That sucks, I was really liking Cundiff........till the misses obviously.
-
The problem with the defense was two fold. 1. Ladarius Webb was huge. We really needed him. 2. Ray Lewis, this has been beaten to death.
-
Let's also not forget that the Webb injury was disastrous. We're so very thin at CB and we were exposed big time. However is excruciatingly clear that Ray has lost about 3 steps out there. He flat out can no longer cover receivers and he has trouble reacting quickly to the ball. Those two things made this defense just leak like a sieve. However wouldn't some zone coverage have helped with the deep ball situation? Maybe some help cover two to prevent the ridiculous deep passing game? Oh well, all we can do is get ready to play alot of games on the road.
-
I agree with the Ray and Ed evaluation. Ed was not only out of position, but he couldn't make up the ground as he once was able to. I'm not even sure Ed is better than Zbi or Nakimura.
-
If Ray truly wants a championship, he should take on a support role. It's the only way he's gonna get there. Man I miss the days of Ray chasing down WR's. Imagine if we would have passed on Boller. I bet we'd have at least one additional championship. Oh well, can't cry over spilled milk. In any case, Ray should just see things for what they are and make the team decision. It's gotta be tough for someone that's played at such a high level for so long.
-
Seau made the transition and it extended his career. In any case, Ray should at min be done for this year. I know he wants amother run, but I just dont think it's in the stars. It's not like he didnt contribute this year.
-
Two facts are highly evident here. The LB's are without question better when Ray is on the bench. 2nd, ed Reed is sloooooooow and is no longer a play maker. He probably should also be sat down. He was out ran on the sideline by Williams I think and that WR. they were at least 3 steps ahead of him and gaining separation. It's time for some speed.
-
Lewis is gonna have to be part of that purge. That hurts to write. I hate to see it happen. It's just time. Father time is undefeated.
-
I've been saying for a while now Ray should've been moved to the outside backer. No one would entertain the conversation. He's just not fast enough to cover everything a middle backer has to cover. Now, after last night, he doesnt even look fast enough to cover any field. The Ravens are looking at a Wild Card now. Tough break. Webb's injury was disasterous.
-
The thing about those supposed character issues.....they all happened early in his college years. He had zero issues his Junior and Senior years, the years in which he could have caused the most trouble. (more notoriety etc) This kid is gonna be special. Maybe Jimmy and Webb will make everyone stop talking about Revis and Cromartie.
-
Just throwing out some names for the heck of it. I just don't think getting rid of the OL in the prime of their careers is wise. Especially a group this special.
-
Ray, JJ, any other LB not named Suggs. We don't need two TEs, Williams, Any safety not making boat loads of money. haha. I have no idea who's up for contract etc, but that's an idea of whom I would let go. With the emergence of Torrey, either Boldin or Evans can be expendable.
