    NHL Playoffs

I have to think they start Varlamov on Monday, Theodore is going to watch - probably until Varlamov really sucks. The Habs played well except for the defense but thats they way they have all season, so I cannot be surprised. The Habs suspect D and a few (IMO) weak goals let in made for a great comeback. Martin likes a defensive game, as do most coaches but I do not think the personnel fits that. I think they would be better off playing an up tempo aggressive game a lot more than they do. Random thoughts: I hated how much contact the Capitals were allowed on Halak. The penalty on Gill finishing his check on Semin was a joke (but didnt cost them). Pouliot should be smacked for tripping a Capital right after a huge goal, same for Cammalleri's slash late. Halak was at times really good, but he should have stopped the last two IMO. Backstrom was awesome and Ovechkin really woke up. I hated how the Capitals knocked the net off at a most opportune time with no call, but thats nothing new. The league rarely calls that penalty. Gomez was great, and I admire his spirit in fighting, but he was too good the last two game to be in the box for 5. My complaints may seem like I dont think the better team won, not true. The Habs were up 4-1 late in the 2nd, a team has to win that. I tip my hat to the Capitals.
  2. Oops! We sat down to watch Supernatural on DVR last night and I made a recording error Thursday and it was not there. And its not on Hulu or the Cw.com yet. I had to sleep with one eye open so the mrs couldnt kill me in my sleep.

Crosby was awesome last night. The 'Wings-Coyotes series is a lot of fun. That second period was crazy.

I am not amazed the Habs won, but I did think they would have to play better than they did. Neither team was great nor bad IMO; that made for a very entertaining game! Like you posted it was a good road playoff win.

So Millz, how is your sleep level going to be the next few weeks? Come playoff time I dont get as much as I normally do. Luckily I dont have to be at work that early.

    LOST 2/16/10

Quoting myself! After watching them all I think Human Target turned out to be a very good new show this season. It was only 12 episodes but the cast really gelled and it was a lot of fun. Hopefully Fox picks it up for next season, especially after they ended (thank goodness) 24.

This is great! I picked up a used copy a while ago but was iffy about starting it. I have played it a ton the last few days, looks great and is really fun.

Looks like the same old Sharks. I tried to watch that game but the Coyote-Wings game was much more entertaining.

Im not claiming the Senators win was all luck, they played well and got a few breaks. Its still a long series. Glad to see the Coyotes tie it up. Will the Sharks actually go deep this season?

Good game, the Sens got lucky on the Kelly goal.
  11. Well Pie's base running out was with no outs last night then the next batter doubled so that would have had an effect. I partially agree and am partially amused by your argument of ineptness by the team making their base running problems matter less. My thoughts of Trembley being fired mainly stem from the teams perspective that they expect to be better this season, and Trembley knows that is expected. So when, if they do not turn it around do they make the move? Records of 1-10? 3-20? I know how hard it is to clean house midseason, so in many ways I would prefer to wait but I dont think the team will.
  12. The starting pitching has been pretty decent too. If that was worse I might be less angry than I am about their play and record.

    LOST 2/16/10

Whats clear is the producers don't like me. (Kate doesnt bounce nor do much for me (side note, I don't like the more made up Juliet on V, I prefer the less makeup plainer one on Lost)) Hugo has a head the size of a St Bernard. I liked it and figured it was relatively straightforward until the end. Not sure about whats going on with
  14. Is it all one persons fault? No, but I know they have to be thinking when to fire Trembley. And if they really think this team is a better than last years they have to. Soon. I like his attitude and his press conferences but I havent liked how many base running and fundamental mistakes this team seemed to make in the past year. If they fire him they better f'in clean house too and get rid of the coaching staff.
  15. When the firings come, and I do think they will come, they better fire everyone and not bring in a new manager with coaching spots intact.

    Yay! They start tomorrow!
  17. I dont doubt it, I was listening on the radio and they seemed to blame Wiggington. Tonight it was Pie's turn to run into an out. I agree, so far this team is making it hard to enjoy any aspect of their play.
  18. Dee, how could you forget Dr Sexy Md? I liked "What Is, And What Should Never Be" where a demon seemingly transports Dean to a time where his mother never died. Seeing him so happy even mowing (well trying) the lawn to the sounds of Joey Ramones cover of What A Wonderful World makes me smile every time. I like the current season but I do hope this storyline ends this year and they move on next season. Though I worry that Misha Collins wouldnt be in it then, and I like him.

I do think the Capitals are better than the Devils, I just think the Habs have a better shot against the Capitals. If that makes sense. Even in off years Brodeur kills his home town Habs. And the Habs always seem to have trouble playing against a system team like the Devils. The Capitals are more of an aggressive speed team and the Habs seem to fare better against those types. Even if they dont I feel it will be an entertaining series. The Habs played a few stretches of hockey this season where they have been very competitive against everyone. The Habs also split the series with the Capitals this season with two games going to OT. Of course at times they played so poorly that they could be beat by anyone too. I like the Capitals, and hope they go far once past the Habs, but I have questions about their goal tending and defensive play. I really think they need to at least get to the conference finals for this to be viewed as a successful season. Its weird in a way, a number of the better teams in the NHL have what some view as shaky goal tending. The Capitals, Black Hawks, and even the Penguins lately do not seem as strong in goal as some would like.
  20. Great baserunning by Wiggington. Runners on 1st and 2nd with two down and the ball gets away from the catcher. So Ty starts to go to 2nd and stop, getting himself in a run down for the final out. And ofcourse the Rays score the next inning.

LOL as a Habs fan I am glad they made it into the playoffs but was hoping they would hold onto the 6th or 7th spot. Though I admit I would rather face the Capitals than the Devils, Marty kills the Canadiens. Plus a Jacques Martin coached team vs a Lemaire coached team would be as exciting as watching paint dry. Not that I think they Habs have a reasonable chance of winning against the Capitals, I don't.
  22. Perfect! Wieters gets on in the 9th despite needing base runners Wiggington fights off the very first pitch he sees to weakly ground into a double play. It really is a textbook display of how not to start a season. You have a team that has higher expectations than they have in years - and trying to convince its fans of that, and you have blown saves, leave tons of men on base, and make poorly timed errors. Way to build some enthusiasm.
  23. I just got back from the print shop where I picked up my "lights out" very in demand Mike Gonzalez T-shirt and I had a question. Is Luke Scott too selective at the plate? It seems like he is always waiting for the perfect pitch......
