Kiper gave out just one 'A' on the draft...and he gave it to the Ravens.
-
Based on value, I will give it an A. But based on need, only a B-. Really hard to say more because we don't really know how good Duvernay and a host of others really are. Highlight films always look good and then guys just disappear in training camp and pre-season games. We won't really know anything, obviously, until camp begins---whenever the hell that happens!

What I would like to see the Ravens do in the draft
oldno82 replied to papasmurfbell's topic in Baltimore Ravens
Walter Football amazingly mocked JK to the Ravens in the second round and Queen in the first if he was still available. They love both picks. In general, I don't think drafting a back is a good idea before round 3. Robbins may be the exception to the rule. Queen and Roberts can both contribute right away. I would love it if our receiver pick could too but that might be a stretch. He's got speed and good hands and fights for the ball...have to see if he runs routes better than what I've seen so far in highlight film. -

Happy with the DL, WR, and OL picks. You're probably right about the RB pick...in that there was no one better out there. I can see the logic in that. The kid can run for sure. Duvernay could be a steal if he plays like those highlights showed. How are his hands? -

I’m still a bit shocked by that second pick. I don’t think it’s a good idea to pick a RB higher than round 3. Also we’ve had 3 picks so far and don’t have an edge rusher or WR. I just have to hope that DeCosta knows what he’s doing because I don’t know what he’s up to. -

Yes! I sweated through twenty-seven picks but we got the guy I wanted! -

Thanx Max...good info! I'm starting to think we should just stay where we are at 28. If anything, trade up not down. -

Sounds like a good plan to me! What I really don't want to see is them trading down or out of the first round to get more picks. Use a couple of the extras we have to move up and take a day one starter. -
I wouldn't think it would be at all fair to expect players to play in that environment. As you said Max, there's just too many situations where they'll be in close contact. The only way this could change would be if a non-invasive treatment was found and found quickly. The odds are against that happening.

As hard as it may be, if Trump rushes a premature re-opening and we have a national 'relapse' the negative economic and health consequences to the country could very well last into next year and what a mess that would be. I don't know if we can survive that long on the competence, or lack thereof of our president. I can't say it often enough to him: 'Listen to Faucci'. He is the guy with the smarts, knowledge and training whose advice should be adhered to now.

I see. Good name for him too!

Excuse my being dense, Papa...who is Mitch?

Thanks, and I hope things work out for you too, Dee, and Max. Difficult times for sure. I look forward to when we emerge on other side of this.

Well, guys my wife and I are both 71 and our adult son is living with us because he's recovering from congestive heart failure that he got from a virus in December. Work was driving him crazy too. He's on some pretty strong medication while he recuperates here. He's been able to resume teleworking but going to work was out anyway. We won't know how he's really doing until late May. Soooo, we have 3 high risk people living under the same roof. Got our first food delivery from Instacart yesterday and were very pleased with that. Just got our first delivery of son's meds from the pharmacy and that went well too. God bless the people doing the deliveries and the shopping for us. And of course the docs and nurses and other medical people. Right now we're following all the orders to a 't'. Hoping if everybody does the same we'll flatten the curve.

Ran across this tweet. An interesting read from a football genius (whether we like him or not):

While I don't know you personally, Max, it's evident to me that you're a good man. I hope that because of the $2.2 trillion relief bill, your employer is able to keep you on the payroll as long as necessary. In the meantime I wish you and your family good health.
-
I think there's a good chance it will be cancelled. But lets see where we stand in May. If, a big if, they can get training camp in during July/August, they'll probably play but a decision will have to be made long before that unfortunately.
-
They won't prevent you from going to the garden. I agree with Max on everything he said and quoted. Time to lock down.
-
Yeah they have just enough cap space for the draft. If they want to achieve greatness they have to hit this draft big what with 5 picks in the first 3 rounds. I think I may foresee a lot of trading up and back on the Ravens' behalf during the draft to nab the players they want. If they execute that strategy successfully, they should wind up with day one starters at LB and WR and depth on the OL. The draft will be the key as Preston says. In the meantime, please pass the purple kool aid.
-
The only thing I have to say about this one is, 'Where is all this cap money coming from?'. I know next to nothing about this guy. https://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/bs-sp-ravens-brockers-signing-20200316-vem4ki6dgvg23knsf4egq4dyka-story.html

A shame they couldn't have woven him into the offense more. We'll see what we get with that 2nd rounder.
-
I have bad feelings about he H. Hurst trade. I think he'll be a star for Atlanta. Now Andrews & Boyle both have to stay healthy and we need a day one starter with that 2nd pick. That's hard to do. James Hurst was going to be out for the first four games anyway so not as much of a loss there. Now we need a Yanda replacement (Powers might be it) and a versatile backup lineman along with linebacker help and pass rush help.
-
Only 6.5 sacks last year??
-
Wow! Stunned. Not sure I agree with this...33 years old and $15 million??? Don't mind losing the 5th rounder but I really really question the money at his age.
