This is a different Ravens team than the one In the blowout loss. Williams and Smith didn't play. There were serious communication issues in the secondary. Peters wasn't here. Lamar was turning the ball over. There will be a slew of Brownies asking to play for the Ravens. Eric has set up an employment application booth on their sideline. #1 seed on the line with the Brownies in the way. They will be steamrolled. Let's take a peek at what the Browns fans will be doing in the stands....

Make that 12! Unbelievable! My guess is that most of us saw this Ravens roster as average or a cut above before this season started. Seeing Ricard and Ingram make it is awesome.
-
There is no doubt that the Ravens players have had this game circled since their brutal loss earlier the season. It's a business game. A win gives the Ravens the #1 seed in the playoffs and all roads will lead through Baltimore. the Browns stand in the way. I think they slaughter them. Baker Mayfield after the game....

The next move is Sizzles.
-
They have won RESPECT and recognition. Let's hope they don't play in it.

The Ravens got no help Sunday towards the #1 seed. The Steelers are still in it if they win out. They'll be going "all out" week 17....if the Jets don't handle them first. That could happen because the steelers offense is putrid.

I had to play devil"s advocate because I see a 50/50 chance that Eric brings him back. So the question would be "Why?"
-
One game at a time. If 15 straight happens, then it happens. That means they were focused and beat the opponent on their schedule. They found ways to win. I'll take that over finding ways to lose. There are no easy games left for this 2019 team. From here on out the ride gets ruff. 2 division opponents coming up who know and hate each other. Then....

I'm sure Suggs has nothing left in the tank and I'm very worried about anything upsetting this teams chemistry. This team has new leadership on the defense and they are a tight brotherhood. Let me play devil's advocate. 1. Judon spoke openly about welcoming him back. Suggs has bonds with these guys too. And he can still rally the team in the lions den.... 2. The Ravens are still having problems setting the edge. Suggs can do at least that. This time off and a bye in the playoffs may help him physically. Use him situationally.. Limited snaps. It might be all they need. 3. Depth. What happens if Judon, Bowser or Ferguson get hurt? 4. He helped lead the team to 1 Super Bowl. He knows the focus and intensity needed to get there and win it.

The final 2 games of this season are very important for the Ravens if they want to have a good chance to win the Super bowl. This is their last shot to tune up this team and address the weaknesses. All of us have been amazed and in awe while witnessing this historic Ravens offense. And rightly so. I am really not concerned with this unit as far as how well they will do in the playoffs. They will fight and scrap. Yet a great offense can be slowed down or negated by a great defense. If you remember going into the 2000 Super Bowl, the Giants were all "Shits and Giggles" after putting up 45 points to win the NFC Championship. Their OC was Shawn Payton. We know what happened next. I read this morning that the 49er defense will be missing half their starters for Sunday's game against the Falcons. Their strength has been their D which leads me to my first point. 1. The Ravens need to enter the playoffs healthy. Getting a 1st round bye will be very beneficial towards this goal. They really are not deep enough to sustain many more injuries. 2. The next 2 games are against Division opponents. They now have had 2 games of experience against this Ravens offense. This will be their 3rd. Will they solve the riddle on how to stop it or slow it down? This will be very interesting to see. If not, then that bodes well for the playoffs. 3. To go all the way, at least 2 of the 3 phases of offense, defense and special teams will have to be playing excellent. We've seen that at times this year, but not on Thursday night. Special teams was horrid and for the second week in a row the secondary was having trouble covering receivers against mediocre offenses. The Jets offensive line if very weak and the Ravens could not generate pressure. The Bills ran over the Ravens D. Although this Ravens defensive unit is ranked 6th, I see more smoke and mirrors than substance. There is hope. I think the secondary can step it up. We've seen that this season against Seattle and the 49er's. I think Special Teams will get it together. Tucker and Koch are simply 2 dependable and outstanding players. Nevertheless, improvement in these 2 units is critical or this team will not go far. 4. Hit the playoffs on a roll. So far these Ravens are steam rolling. Morale, confidence and great team chemistry is evident. Focus and discipline is also evident. They have veteran leadership in Imgram, Bynes, Smith and Thomas. Then there is the Lamar effect. They believe in him. They've caught his vision and passion to win the Super Bowl. Actually it's an obsession. To accomplish this, it has become an obsession for Lamar to be excellent. Now his team has it. That is a very powerful force. It's an energy and chemistry few teams generate and very few can stop. We've seen it emanate from Ray Lewis as he infected and inspired the 2000 Ravens Team. We've see it lift players and overall team performance to the highest level. This is the biggest thing they have going for them.

Here's a list....

I was watching Tucker doing pre game practice kicks and he did not look accurate and that translated to the game. He missed an extra point. Then it looked like Koch lined up too close to the line of scrimmage, the line blocked poorly and the result was a blocked kick returned for a TD. 7 Jets kick returns for 179 yards! 25.6 average. The Ravens returned 1 for 5 yards. 3 punt returns for 48 yards. If this happens in a playoff game against that level of competition, then the Ravens have a very good chance of losing. This 2019 Ravens team will need all 3 units performing at a high level if they hope to go all the way. 2 games left with an opportunity to right the Special Teams ship.

I agree with both of you. Although the Jets had the same short week with little rest, I think we saw the effects on the Ravens. Players were slower and out of sync on defense and definitely on special teams. Harbaugh admitted it and said there is plenty to work on. The sliver lining for me is it didn't take a loss to show this Ravens team that they have a ways to go and need to work harder to get better. Remember...42-21. This game was over by the end of the first quarter. Very hard to keep your focus and perform excellently for 45 more minutes of play. One more note; so they experimented last night trying to see if RG3 could run this offense, run the same plays as Lamar....Fail. 4 carries, 6 yards, ypc 1.5 with 3.4 QBR rating. But there was So Much GOOD!!!!
-
Speaking of all these records and highlights, Lamar gives us a reminder....
-
Last night the D sold out to stop the run and Lamar slaughtered them with his arm. 5 TD passes. 5! When will everybody stop doubting Lamar as a great thrower. 9.2 ypp. 134.4 QB rating. Leading the league in touchdown throws. MVP. In a Ravens uniform.
-
They steamrolled the #2 run defense. 5 TD passes. 5! Let me say that if you get an opportunity to go to a Ravens game then don't pass it up. The Ravens have gone all out to make it a a fabulous game day experience. Every week they come up with new stuff. The band, the cheerleaders, fireworks, the lights dimming on TD's, the giant Raven that sits on the goal posts and then flies around the stadium, the video board is outstanding in content and clarity, the wi-fi actually works, lower concession prices, the crazy fan that rips his shirt off and leads the R-A-V-E-N-S! chant, tributes to local athletes and our armed forces, great sound system, ....it's a visual wonderland. It does rival sitting at home on your couch. And Oh! The product on the field is not too shabby.
-
It's mind boggling....
-
"Let's make sure we wear our AFC North Champions gear for the Steelers game."
-
And the Ravens do that....and that will only improve. All these teams, Baltimore (11-2), San Francisco (11-2), Seattle (10-3), Minnesota (9-4) and Buffalo (9-4) , do that. Once you start running, then opponents load the box. Oh! Now a whole lot can happen throwing the ball because the D doesn't know whether to play run or pass first.
-
Absolutely. What's football with out the rushing game? And you must have one come December and January.
-
Not sure what that means but running the football is back. I've been getting bored with the dink and dunk, flag football offense for years. The Ravens offense may not "revolutionize" the NF,L but if you pay attention, more QB's are beginning to run. Change if in the wind and I see this as good for the game.
