  1. I was thinking about this today... There's not 1 team on their schedule that they can't match up with and beat. Will they win them all...of course not...somebody will beat them, but only because of the 'every given Sunday' thing.
  2. Keep Joe healthy and the Ravens will have a top 5 offense.
  3. Although I've had a lot of negative comments about Troy as a QB, I hope he has the best game of his NFL career Thursday night. He had a good night Saturday playing with the 3's and 4's. I'll be rooting for him.
  4. That was a good one BallT! OK...Wilson passed his physical...he's a Raven... I hear it's a conditional 5th rounder...solid Ozzie!
  5. Excellent addition...great find for probably a 3rd or 4th round pick....typical Ozzie. Huge upgrade over Fisher and Miller....yea he has some Ed Reed in him once he has the ball in his hands. He won't get beat deep. Wow!
  6. lol! Beck for nothing...that's a panic move.
  7. The Ravens will sit Flacco and probably Bulger...
  8. I heard Wally Williams on the radio last night and he said the Ravens secondary looks better without Ed. His reasoning was that the corners can play confident and focused knowing the safeties will be in the right spot to protect them. Ed free lances too much and while that results in some big plays for Ed, it also gives up big plays in the Ravens secondary. With the showing that Nakamura and Zibby have given this pre season, Hamlin as a very solid back up....the Ravens are not that desperate for Ed to return. Plus...how effective can he be given the neck issue and hip replacement? There's a lot to debate on this issue. For starters, Harbaugh sounds defensive and hesitant. He knows what he has currently as far as a healthy backfield. Reed hasn't practiced or taken 1 snap....or 1 hit. Reading between the lines it sounds like he's thinking "Do I go with what I know I have and can count on or do I risk the unknown by counting on the Ed Reed of yesteryear?" Ed is one of the best safeties ever to play that position. He single-handedly can take over and turn games around. He's done that many times. He's an outstanding playmaker. But wait a minute...Zibby and Nakamura have been making plays too...sacks, fumble recoveries, interceptions... It's the discipline issue that flags me the most. The Ravens gave up some serious yardage to the big pass play last year when Ed was out of position (outside of the pass interference st6uff). Also his ability to tackle is a question mark. We saw his effective but unorthodox way of tackling last year...will it continue to work? "We got us a Convoy!" What do you think?
  9. Update... a little bit of a tear...shit floating around...
  10. Great or small, realistic or unrealistic, this is the time of year when fans know the least about the teams they follow and expect the most. I'd say that, in general, Ravens fans expectations are very high. Past experience tells me to get ready for the roller coaster ride of the 2010 NFL season. I read Eisenbergs article and thought it was a good one to sober us up some before we take off.
  11. per WNST...he had knee surgery. The hits keep comming. It must be a minor procedure because the text says he'll be ready for the Opener. I don't see how. This Sucks but the depth is there.
  12. Forgot....Cousins might play Thursday. It must have been a bad concussion because that happened 2 weeks ago...said he just has a little headache now.
  13. Kindle should be comming to Baltimore later this week for tests at the hospital. He's not allowed at the Ravens facility until he's medically cleared
  14. Update... The Ravens will have him for the final stretch run...and the playoffs.
  15. I like Cundiff but there's a reason he bounced around the league. I don't know why but I don't want to learn that first hand. He's part of Special Teams winning field position.....his kick offs will be shorter once the weather/air gets cold. I like Graham's regular season consistency. I don't like his playoff record. OK...Graham...I'm picking with my head not my gut...I'll fall on my sword if he costs the Ravens in the playoffs.
  16. I'm with you on that cleetz. I say use Dickson and Pitta more...with Heap. That gives Joe a lot of big targets...there will be mismatches on LB's and nickle backs all over the place....and it won't hurt the running game at all.
  17. Story of the Night...Preston nails what I saw... No more take away Mason and stop the Ravens passing attack. Double coverage just created mismatches elsewhere. Plus...Heap, Bouldin, Dickson/Pitta create physical mismatches. All of them have great hands. Try to stop them and Ray Rice is all alone. Somebody was always open. Every defense the Ravens will face this year will have to play them 'honest'. Why? Because the Ravens have a QB who can make every throw. Joe had a good game reading the defense. I like him in the no huddle. It wasn't dink and dunk tonight. It wasn't flag football. It was "Need 12 yards? No problem." Loved the bazillion formations Cam is using. This offense will morph up this season. We have seen only a taste of what Cam has planned....and he hasn't unleashed the rushing attack yet. Quick thoughts: Ellerbe's a beast...every time I looked up, Nakamura was making a play...Gooden does not impress me...looks like Reed won't make the cut...same for Prince Miller...nice game Cory Redding...Travis Fisher "Come on man!"...Troy Smith has poor pocket awareness...Sergoi Kindle has his photo in with the roster photos in the game program. Now if he can only get his face in Baltimore...Good game Cris Carr...I feel bad for Edgar Jones. He had a solid game and I have to wonder if being a team player and foregoing his linebackers duties to help out the offense at TE last year will hurt him at the final cut. He could have been developing his skill at LB while the others LB's developed....It woul;d have been a mean trick to have anybody battle Sam Koch for the punter position...I'm beginning to think this might be the best Special Teams unit since 2000. We'll see. There's no Jermaine Lewis in this group or automatic Matt...not yet....the Ravens have dominated in the field position battle 2 weeks in a row....I freaked when I saw Ray with the huge ice bag on his knee but later he had it off and was walking around having fun. He can't run sideline to sideline like he used to. On a couple of sweeps the 'old Ray' would have run down the runner. Instead has was a step behind....mixed thoughts on the Paul Kruger DE experiment. On one play he lined up as the nose tackle. It was like a fly hitting a brick wall....It feels great having Bouldin on this roster.
  18. Yea...it's official...out 6-8 weeks. I heard he broke it on a passing route cutting and planting. He's worked real hard to get back and this has to be killing him. I have no idea who'll get the extra roster spot. Reed, Harper, Williams, Smith...take your pick...it's a crap shoot.
  19. Santonio Holmes will be out week 1. Revis is still holding out, and with each passing day, his ability to be effective for Opening Day grows weaker and weaker. Now Calvin Pace is down... Sanchez isn't exactly turning many heads.. Now...Tomlinson really looks like his old self...the Jets can still run.
  20. Let's see how much junk I can get into one post... The Ravens are wearing Purple tonight. I can't wait to be standing at my seat and see the Ravens Band march down the field to the new fight song. I'm sure the tune will elicit some old memories but it's not about that for me. It's just a better tune. I've had PSL's for 15 years and I can't tell you one word from the old song. It was lame and flat. For those who are skepitcal or don't want the change, you'll grow to like it. When it's played after at TD and the crowd screams "Fight! Fighht! Fight!" you'll get the goose bumps too. Then there is the pride thing...we stake out our turf with "For Baltimore... and Maryland.. You will fly on to victory!" And....10 years from now most fans won't know where the tune came from anyway. Eli Manning and Brandon Jacobs.. "Welcome to Baltimore". They thumped the Jets 31-16 and lost to the Stealers 24-17. I hear their O line is patched up so it could get ugly tonight. The Giants D line can bring the heat, so this is a good test for the O line. It wouldn't hurt my feelings to see Flacco have a night like Aaron Rodgers had Thursday..21 for 29 for 195 yards, 3 TD's and a 124.9 passer rating. Nope...wouldn't hurt me at all... But....... I hear Cam will be putting on the brakes. He wants to see the O in difficult downs and distances. "I'm really trying to put on some ankle weights a little bit at times in the preseason to find out some things that we might not find in the normal part of the season," Cameron said. "I want to see the quarterback get completions when we get bad looks, when the defense really has the advantage." Personally I get more joy when the other team is in that situation. Lining up against most defenses in the NFL is a difficult situation. Scoring touchdowns on them is too. The 1st unit offense hasn't had many TD's so far (4 Total, 1 air, 3 ground) or solid scoring drives so I'd say they are already in a difficult situation. Let them try to score Cam. It wouldn't hurt my feelings if Mattison continues to unleash the hounds. Just don't pull their pants of Suggs...OK?! All eyes will be on the secondary and that is one confident bunch. I've seen interviews, videos.. and they believe they will get the job done. Keep an eye on Special Teams. This might be the best group in years. A very important ingredient for winning football. That unit could take this team over the top this season.
  21. I'm watching the Jets/Skins game...I take my comment back about week 1. The Ravens will do fine against the Jets. Sanchez and their passing game suck. Thomlinson looks good...they can run some but they can't score. Chance for the Ravens to pitch a shutout.
  22. vmax

    LOL!

check this Haynesworth material too... Maybe he'll bench him.
  23. Owens is better than Robbin...and so is Shipply. In fact he's Owens bitch for letting himself be called Robbin.
  24. Matteson is blitzing a lot...he's committed to pressuring the QB. I like it. The first unit D let the Skins march up and down the field but did not give up a TD. 3 points for the night is a good showing...the Skids did put up 42 last week on the Bills (who led the Colts 24-21 at the half!) 1.4 ypc....nobody will run on this group this year...but they will pass. 365 yards worth last night! The D got killed on 3rd down. They couldn't get off the field. Nevertheless clamping down in the redzone and being real stingy was good to see. Actually the secondary held up well...Hamlin and Williams with a pick each. Washington looks like he has all his speed back. Landry was out of position at times but still had a solid game. Zibby and Nakamura have definately taken that next step and are playing very well. 4 sacks. The pressure was there and they held McNabb to 11 0f 26 for a QB rating 54.3 rating...way below his career average...the 206 yards passing on those 11 completions exposed a weakness. The linebackers did not cover well at all. The middle was open all day. TE's will kill this group if they don't improve. Ray looked slow. Gooden even slower...I'd say it's time to give up on Gooden. Too many flaws in his game. Slow to the ball, can't shed blocks... Phillips...nice game dude. Suggs good game and Burgess had a good night. Cody looks very good...I think he'll be like Sam Adams (without the Sybil part) in a year or 2. Very cool. I really miss seeing Kindle and what he would have brought to this D.
