1. haha! He shouldn't have bet against the Ravens...he should know better because he's filmed a lot in Baltimore.
2. Driving home from work I heard Jamie Costello tell this story on MASN....It's fantastic! My heart goes out to Matthew (who's having a rough week) and my respect level for Cam is through the roof. Jamie wanted people to hear this because Cam would have stayed anonymous and nobody would have known about it. He said with all the Arenas and Tiger Woods stories ect... he wanted people to know there were good people in sports too. Matthew...I'll be thinking and saying a few prayers for you.
3. Here's a good article from James Walker on ESPN on one of the 2 big questions I have about the upcomming Ravens/Colts game.
4. Looks good to me. Everybody is dinged up this time of year. This report tells me everybody is chomping at the bit wanting to play. They are fired up.
5. Love these NFL videos...they really help the fan feel closer to their team. That is one great inside look at Harbaugh. I love his spirit, his enthusiasm and vison of his team. Plus, now we know he gets just as excited and crazy as we do during the game. This team faced a lot of adversity last year and this year yet look at what they have accomplished. We really got lucky to get him to be the Ravens HC.
6. I put Yanda at RT if Gaither can't play.
7. It's not often a team comes out and tells it's defensive game plan but Mathis does it here... but then again...everybody knows this is the plan wether he said it or not.
8. I don't know why...maybe the speed of the Colt D is better.
9. Nice looking family and a cool story. Thanks Grubber.
10. They're starting to poop their pants...
To start, there's a very ominous comparison to be made here, one that popped into my head just about the time the veil of invincibility fell on Coach Hoodie's embarrassing pom-pom ski hat: TPFFFB are the 2005 Pittsburgh Steelers all over again. » They have the same run-first, defense-heavy style of play. They are a sixth seed. » They had to play all the way to the end to earn a playoff spot on the final day of the season. » They feature a second-year quarterback, Joe Flacco, who managed the Ravens to the AFC title game one year ago. In 2005, Ben Roethlisberger was a second-year player who had taken the Steelers to the AFC Championship Game as a rookie. Feeling queasy yet? Most important, though, TPFFFB is a very good team that is getting better. Their running game has improved since the Colts held them to 98 yards rushing Nov. 22. They have linebacker Terrell Suggs back in the lineup; he didn't play in the game against the Colts. They also have Suggs and Ed Reed together on the field, something they didn't have between Nov. 16 and the last game of the regular season. http://www.indystar.com/article/20100112/SPORTS15/1120339/1058/SPORTS03/Nothing-comes-easy-against-Ravens
11. Perhaps that "R" strand DNA explains the personality change I undergo in the fall on Sunday afternoons. It's rare to get blown out when you have a defense like the Ravens. Conversely...teams like the Colts with high scoring offenses rarely get blown out.
12. Exactly how Ozzie planned it! Hey...if Stover does miss the game winner...I bet there will be questions.
13. Agreed. They have weaknesses. Cam and Matty have to exploit them. They have speed...Ravens have speed and power. They Colts D is 'bend but don't break'...they don't give up a lot of points (8th...Ravens 3rd)...so redzone will be key again. I hope Joe can throw, because if he can, then the Ravens will run and make the big plays necessary to get the win.
14. Watching the Jets is definately like seeing the "Baltimore Ravens North". Rex is doing the exact same thing there as is done here....same idenity, swagger...speed, physicality and smashmouth style. It would be so great...so insane for both teams to meet in the AFC Championship. The odds of that happening are ridiculous...but what the hell...it would be so great to see all the blow hard media Colts/Chargers ass kissers suck it up. And the League? They'd get back to work pronto to find more rules to help the passers and receivers.
15. I'm going to go with what Harbs and Joe are saying... The O line protected Joe in the last game vs the Colts...no sacks. They need to do that again. The story of that game was the redzone...Colts scored 2 TD's... Ravens FG's
16. Bottom line: this affects Joe's mobility and ability to square his hips open on his throws.
17. "WE DON'T DESERVE TO BE IN THE PLAYOFFS!"
18. Soon...anytime now...the media will start telling us that the Ravens have lost 7 straight to the Colts and never won at Lucas Oil Stadium...that Peyton Manning will pick the Ravens apart and end their season...'nice run Ravens (pat on the back) but you don't have a shot"... Before we let that bullshit infest our brains...turn it off...it's only part of the reality of what is happening in these 2009/10 playoffs. We heard the same crap about the Pats and guess what? The Colts are almost the same team as the Pats. They are last at running the ball. 24th at stopping the run...both factors worse than the Pats. This plays into the Ravens hands who run at will and close the door on the run. The same game plan as Sunday's will beat the Colts Saturday night...with a little more help from Joe. The Ravens can and will run on them and Joe will have opportunities to make 2-3 big plays during the game. He may even be healthier since he basicly had the day off Sunday. I don't expect the Ravens to jump out 24-0...that is a rare occurance, but the Ravens lost a close 17-15 game to them this year and they have a very decent shot to get the win Sunday. This is not a dominant playoff field. Just as those were not the Pats of old, so too, these are not the Colts of old...except for Manning. They are a below average team without Manning...think Redskins... The Colts lost their last 2 games and it will be 3 full weeks before the team takes the field with all their starters. The Bills spanked them. They can be had. It will take the same kind of performance to win that the Ravens gave Sunday and they are very capable of duplicating that because they are hitting full stride right now. Unlike the rested, but rusty, Colts. "Oh shit! It's not the British..The Ravens are comming!"
19. They were talking about the great Green Bay defense....I didn't see it. Warner is insane and deserves to be in the HOF
