I agree cleetz with everything you said except Cincy being an Elite Team. Let's see them make the playoffs a few years in a row and win some games there before they are put in the company of teams who do that.

Maybe I'm wrong but I think Manning having 4 downs to get 10 yards and a 1st was a major factor in Bellichek's decision but no experts that I've heard or read mention that factor. Dumbies! I'd love to see the stat for converted 4th downs on last minute game winning drives. You may only need 1 during the drive but that makes the difference. You think of the great clutch QB's but they all secrectly knew they had this advantage...."Might stop me 2, 3 times but not 4 in a row!"

If I try hard I can see why he went for it...they couldn't stop Manning on the last 2 drives and the D was gassed so it was a roll of the dice. Remember, Manning would have had 4 downs to make a 1st. On the other had...maybe the D gets a turnover or makes the play... Bad news...Ravens are up next.

Let's see what Jamison has to say on this... MNF is either really, really stupid for picking this game to televise or clairvoyant because of the surrounding controversey. A Browns fan boycott or walkout could make this a ratings bonanza. Just the threat should have a ton of fans tuning in for the opening kick off.

Maybe a miracle happens and the Ravens show uo tough against the Colts like they did against the Pats in their undefeated run. Colts are undefeated so the Ravens might play above their heads to make a statement. The Colts have been in tight games lately...they only put up 18 vs the 49'ers...20 vs the Texans. As much as my rational mind tells me to give up hope, the homer in me says "you never know..any given Sunday...yada, yada, yada."

Spen..I have no doubt that this is your typical corporate, back room, back stabbing takeover...it has Shakesperean elements with trusted friends and associates setting the knife. Lerner convinced Art he had no options other than to sell or move. It killed Art to have to surrender to this because of his love for Cleveland, the Browns and their fans. Art has blame in this...he wasn't a good businessman but if he would have had a new stadium with the sky box money he would have been ok. Instead everybody else got stadiums and the R&R HOF thanks to the Mayor and City Council. Lerner told Art that they would take his plane and fly to Baltimore together. Then with some BS excuse, he jumped ship at the last minute and Art flew to Balitmore alone to sign the papers. If Lerner is on that plane with him and in Baltimore, then no way he gets the franchise. Instead he set himself up as Clevelands savior. Art knew he was set up by his partners to take the fall alone. He still can't talk about it. Bottom line Policy and Lerner got an NFL franchise and hood winked everybody.

I'm in a good mood today and I'll give Jamison a pass. He's a solid writer and I think he's been reading stuf about the 'Curse of Art Modell' over the years and did the Browns fans a favor by posting it on the Sun sports page. It will get national recognition there...something I don't have... It's a good time to get this out. Seriously...I still believe it was Lerner and Policy, with a Mayor on their payroll, that backed Art into a financial corner. Then Lerner convinced Art that he wouldn't get a new stadium and the revenue that he needed, convinced him that moving the team was his only way out, and then put him on his private plane (Art thinking they were going to Baltimore together) and then bowed out sending Art alone. That set the knife in Art's back. Conspiracy, betrayel, lies, treachery...greed. Art is too good of a man to go public with this. It hurts him too much.

The Browns fans are close to getting it right. They are pissed off at Lerner...so pissed that they will probably not be in the stands for the opening kick off. That's a big statement but they can really get it right if they march in with "Put Art in the Hall" signs. Then the Curse will be lifted.

I've been putting this up for years...The Curse of Art Modell. Until they admit that Lerner and Carmen 'Cap Cheat' Policy railroaded Art so they could get their own NFL franchise...and until they let Art Modell into the Hall of Fame...the Browns will be a sucking laughingstock.
