I feel like I'm watching the Ravens defense...good job Rex! Ton of pressure on Brady...lot's of different fronts. And how about that Meadowlands crowd? Great M&T Bank stadium impersonation...

I don't know who to root for...I kind of hate both teams.
  4. "Yea...they stink!"
  5. Good point rm52...let's see them rip their hearts out...that would be a huge statement that this is no longer "the old Ravens". It would mean they have taken the next step.
  6. Last week a few big plays clobbered the Ravens Special Teams unit and Defense. The Flacco INT hurt because it put the D on a short field. Penalties hurt. Against a weak opponent those things made it a close game although the Ravens dominanted the stats. Only one stat matters in the NFL...WINS. The team with the most points, at the final whistle, wins the game. Period. No style points are awarded. I can see the Ravens winning the stat battle today but lose the game. The big play potential is there for the Chagers. That's why I say the Ravens Offense better show up today. I think the Chargers will find ways to put up points and it will be up to the Ravens O to make some big plays and pull out the win. It's up to you Joe.. and Kelly...and Todd...Derrick...Ray...Willis...Mark...and could you show up Demetrius??? Please?
  7. I think it's time for a new HC.
  8. Well said geo! Short and to the point. I think the Ravens win the baqttle of the trenches. It's Washington, Foxworth, Carter, and Walker who I worry about.
  9. Can Ravens pass rush shake Rivers? Although they got 3 sacks against KC, they made Brody Croyle look like Phillip Rivers...116 rating. Still..I have to like the Ravens defense to pressure the hell out of Rivers all day. It's the obvious key to the win and the O line needs to be tested....but will it be done primarily from a 4 man front? Merriman/Gaither/Oher matchup will be interesting. Young guys vs a crafty vet deprived of his juice. Cam has a plan for this...let Oher beat him to death... Totally agree on the turnover battle...that's a killer on the road. I think the Big Play(which can be a turnover) will be a factor too. When you have "2 evenly matched teams" the one that makes 2-3 big plays during the game usually wins. Rivers and his receivers have that potential on offense. So does Joe and Co. The Ravens have that potential in their running game...not so sure about the hargers with the O line injuries. On Special Teams I'd say the Chargers hold the big play edge because of Sproles. The Ravens Special Teams worry me. On defense...here comes Ed Reed! Playmakers galore. "We can make some big plays!"
  10. I think the Ravens have the edge in their pass attack. A solid, accurate QB in Joe Flacco (who can make all the throws), Heap and Mason are serious weapons, Clayton may be finally emerging and Ray Rice and Willis can catch the ball. Somebody will always be open. The biggest factor is the Ravens O line is too big and atheletic to push around. Yes, they are young and developing as a unit but they are too nasty to be intimidated or pushed around by the Charger D. Then there is the "Cam" factor...he'll have the plan and adjustments ready. What worries me most is The Big Play. The Chargers makes them and it only takes a few to win a game. The Ravens could dominate on stats and lose this game. I hope they learned from KC.
  11. It seems like Hensley from the Sun is on the same page... "You gotta make them this week..."
  12. Thank You Dee and thank you everybody for being here!
  13. Sorry! It's Thursday and I'm into matchups by this time of the week. Maybe you can turn up some other matchups because I haven't gone deep enough yet.
  14. You nailed it dc. The key to this game is to getting to Rivers....all day long. The Chargers have to love the matchup of their big, tall receivers against the Ravens small corners. The long ball down the sidelines has to look good to Rivers. But that takes time and the Ravens front 7 face a Charger offensive line that will probably be missing their center and right guard. So...can the Ravens D get to Rivers before he can toss the jump balls deep? If they can, then I love the Ravens chances of coming home with the win. I don't think the Chargers will be able to run between the tackles with that patched up O line, but they have to like the speed of Sproles to the outside with those big receivers blocking down on the undersized Ravens CB's. That is a weak spot for the Ravens...Washington and Foxworth are not tackling machines. Another concern...look out Special Teams! Here comes Sproles! The Ravens O could be in for another good day. The Charger D was 31st against the pass last year, Merriman's an average Joe now that he can't take the juice. If that were all there is to this game then I'd say the Ravens win...BUT... Factor in that this is the first game the Ravens have played on the west coast in almost 2 years, that they are playing a playoff team and only went 2-5 against winning teams in the regular season last year... add the Chargers home field advantage (24-4)... AND I SEE THIS GAME AS A TOSS UP....a real nail biter.
  15. Nice write up dc. I didn't see the game but it looks like the Bengals have a defense finally and they could begin to gel this year. They face the Pack this week and a 0-2 start will help the Ravens divional chances. The Browns keep hiring "Cheats" Now it's Eric 'Cheat' Mangini... How about his 'secret that everybody knew' on the starting QB? I don't see a winning atmosphere there this year....as usual. As for Polomalu...he had 2 fouls in those 15 minutes (1 a cheap shot personal) that hurt the team...not exactly his finest moments. He lost his composure but that was a sensational one hand INT grab and a solid tackle in the back field. Big game for the Ravens this week. On the road vs a playoff team. A win and 2-0 start would be huge.
  16. It's Sept. 16th....does he have a job yet?
  17. They might get blacked out...
  18. Unleash the Hounds! Also....Might be a good day to pound the rock...the Raiders ran all over them...
  19. I don't listen to 1300am....once in awhile I'll listen to Mike and Mike but they got old quick on me. Yea...way too many commercials. The problem with National radio sports talk show hosts is that fans like us know more about our team than they do. Understandably. So...they have nothing they can tell me.
  20. Just what I need...some Medium channelling a dead New York Taxi cab driver who's going to give me advice on my life. "I see a woman coming into your life...soon...a blonde...

    Dear Crav

"The San Diego Chargers had the NFL's second-worst pass defense last season."
  23. Nice, solid, opening day win on the road in Houston. That team has totally bought in to him and they are going to make some noise in this league. It's only week 1 but he has the #2 defense and the #3 offense. Cassel had a good 1st start. He's starting another Ravens team...it's just in New York. Why they are even chanting "What's our Name!?" Ravens!!! errr... JETS!!!!!!
