I don't think the offshore accounts issue is an easy problem to solve. The only solution I can think of is to heavily tax any banking transactions that involve money leaving the country to these banks which could make it unattractive to move money to these tax havens. The only downside to this is it's a 1 off transaction cost and you can't account for lost taxes from any future interest or capital gain that this money will make. As for setting up a company in a tax haven, you could write paragraphs on the subject which I won't do. If you have an office/factory in a country you should at least be paying a portion of your taxes in that country. If not, then you are an importer and you will have to pay import duties. The problem with most tax systems, is they are so complicated that even the professionals don't know everything and new loopholes are being discovered all the time and it takes the IRS/HMRC or whatever each country's tax collection agency is called, ages to find and close these loopholes. If you make everything simpler it will be harder to cheat.

After spending 2 weeks driving in Florida, all I can say is I'm surprised there aren't more accidents on the roads. Your speed limits are generally lower (our highways are normally 70 mph limits but the government is increasing that to 80mph), but your drivers are more idiotic and there seems to be a lack of courtesy to other drivers.

It sounds like everything needs a reset and then we begin building from the ground up. Maybe that is what the Mayans were on about with the end of the cycle in December 2012. Maybe the global economy is going to come crashing down and a new age will rise from the ashes.

I had no problems going into the season with Cundiff as our kicker but it was clear for all to see that the rookie beat him out of a job. If Billy couldn't withstand the pressure of competition with a rookie how the hell was he ever going to kick us into the Superbowl? Sorry Billy, good luck with wherever you end up but don't let the Castle gates smack you on the ass on your way out.

Ravens CB Cary Williams turns down extension offer
RavenMad replied to papasmurfbell's topic in Baltimore Ravens
At least he didn't use the "I have to put food on the table" excuse for not signing the contract. When these guys use that excuse I always wonder where they do their shopping. Or maybe their agents do their shopping and tell them a bunch of bananas costs 1k per lb. Anyway, why didn't he sign the contract and get security and then go looking for more if he outperforms the contract? Isn't that what most of these guys who holdout are doing? -
I think Jimmy and Cary just need to start playing the ball a bit more. Jimmy was so worried about Megatron that he didn't get his head round and Megatron just out muscled him for the ball. Jimmy was actually in decent position. It was the same situation for Cary against Atlanta. if he is able to track the ball then he easily breaks up the pass or better still, snags an INT.

Come on guys. We should know better than to ever understimate the Steelers. They are a 11-5 or 10-6 ball club until they show something on the field "in games that count" that proves otherwise.

Surgery could be coming for James Harrison

I lol'ed. -
I see that Tucker is making 94% (82 of 87) of his kicks in practice against Cundiff's 83% (74 of 89). I think Tucker has to win the job. While we might not know if Tuck has the stones to kick game winners we do know that Cundiff doesn't so why not go with the rook if he is out performing Cundiff in practice? Tucker has the leg, has the accuracy. The only thing we don't know is how he responds to pressure. Cundiff has the leg, but it doesn't show up in his accuracy from beyond 50 yards and we do know that he has choked in the past at important times. While he might have learnt from the experience, at this point I don't want to find out.

Apparently ESPN have bought the rights to the "Ev and Ocho" show and will pair it with UFC.

If he is right I will back him up in every argument and troll this board disagreeing with every other member. If I'm right, papa can't post a negative comment on the Ravens for a year!
-
Papa, who is your prediction to win the superbowl. Everyone here is going with the Ravens. That is a 1 in 32 shot of being correct. All you have stated is it won't be the Ravens. That gives you a 31 in 32 shot of being correct. If you are so great who wins it all this year then? I still pick the Ravens.
-
Papa has been trying to get the Ravens to build for the future for the last 4 seasons. I think he has predicted no better than 9-7 in all 4 seasons yet we have made the playoffs and gone to the AFC Championship game twice. Every year that has passed was also supposed to have been our best shot at a ring.

I agree with you. It's the same way we have been hearing about the Ravens D being old ever since Ray turned 30. Every f**king year I hear it. The media thinks like this: Ray is 37 and Ed is 33 therefore the Ravens D is old. It doesn't matter that there are 9 other young studs on the D, the Ravens D is old.

This. It might be all good Tucker winning the competition but we won't know what he is made of until there is a must make FG with the game on the line.

This might be a 1st but I think everyone has a fair point here. Cam has run his offense to best suit what the team needs. I think I read a point from Flacco that he would like to see us more aggressive after half time and take teams out rather than trying to sit on a lead and see a 17-0 game turn into a 17-14 win. He wants to see us put teams away in the 3rd so he can go take a seat. Cam has basically shut up shop on each occassion we have a half time lead but perhaps that is knowing how good the D is and wanting to make sure we don't turn the ball over and give up quick scores. On this I agree with max. Papa, I also absolutely agree with you that he was running an offense that didn't suit his players. We just didn't have the speed to run Mason, Boldin and Housh 30 yards deep on every pass play a couple of years ago. We should have been feeding Ds a steady dose of slants to Boldin and hooks to Mason. Last year we had Torrey for the deep stuff and Boldin started to look better taking more of the underneath stuff but there was still too many times that Boldin was wandering down field and Flacco had no one to throw too.

Crav, I thought you might like this little tidbit on your boy JJ. We all know you like your WRs with the same starting letter on both names. First there was TT Travis Taylor then came DD Devard Darling and now we can see your love for JJ Jacoby Jones. http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/ravens-insider/bal-ravens-training-camp-highlights-osemele-stands-his-ground-20120802,0,6264067.story?track=rss

You know what I see when I watch Tebow......Mr. Perfect from the old WWF. Although Mr. Perfect throws a tighter spiral: Tebow doesn't need a girlfriend as the media sucks his dick plenty as it is.
-
On a side note, Ed needs 1 more interception to enter the top 10 all time list and 8 more to enter the top 5! We have been blessed to watch so many Hall of Famers in the short existence of the Ravens.

I love seeing the rooks get at it with the vets. That is what makes a better football team. The young guys pushing the vets harder as long as it doesn't start to mess with team chemistry. Beat the shit out of each other on the field and then have a beer (or gatorade) off it to make things good.

But that's just it Papa. We haven't been getting gouged by the run apart from a few anomalies. That is what I am trying to say. Yes, if we start getting gouged by the run consistently when we are set up to stop it then it becomes concerning but at this point I don't believe that we are in trouble with the run.
