ForceEight Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Clayton was not a bust. He just wasn't a #1 receiver. He's a nice guy regardless, and I hope he finds something cool to spend the rest of his life doing. 1 Quote
OutsideRzAcE Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Given where he was drafted, I think he was a bust. I guess that's subjective. Quote
cravnravn Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 He was definitely a bust moreso than TD Taylor Quote
Robjr83 Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 You want to talk about bust... Look at every receiver taken in the first round that year. 3 - Braylon Edwards7 - Troy Williamson21- Matt Jones22- Clayton27- Roddy White Only White went on to a decent career. I remember wanting the Ravens to take Jones due to his 4.3-40. 1 Quote
papasmurfbell Posted May 17, 2013 Author Posted May 17, 2013 I knew Clayton would be a bust. He disapeared in the big games at OU. You don't get to play N Iowa level talent in the NFL. Quote
thundercleetz Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 I knew Clayton would be a bust. He disapeared in the big games at OU. You don't get to play N Iowa level talent in the NFL.Good point. We were linked to Clayton from the beginning in all mock drafts. I remember arguing after Oklahoma's BCS Championship blow out to USC that we should stay away. He was jammed the whole game and disappeared. I remember last year Ozzie said he had identical grades for Roddy White and Mark Clayton but we went with Clayton because he played in the Big XII. Real shame too. Clayton had an awesome 2006 with McNair as the QB. Kind of similar to Travis Taylor's 2002 season. Everyone thought they'd break out after those seasons but never did. With Clayton it always seemed like he was a step too slow or an inch too short. A little bigger and a little faster and I'm sure he would have been an excellent NFL receiver. Quote
vmax Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 (edited) Jerry Rice would have been a bust with Boller throwing to him.But...Clayton was a bust. Good to see Ray retire on top with 2 Super Bowl rings. Edited May 18, 2013 by vmax Quote
52isUnstoppable Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Ravens wasted so many championship caliber defenses on boller. Had we had an average qb during those years could have at least one more ring. Clayton was a bust based on his draft position and stats. For a guy who got YAC in college he got none in the nfl. He avoided contact at all cost. Quote
