Justin Tucker is the AFC special teams player of the week and month

Recommended Posts

Ravens kicker Justin Tucker provided the lion’s share of his team’s scoring in last Sunday’s 19-3 victory over the Jets and his four field goals and an extra point were enough to make him the AFC special teams player of the week.

It also capped a very successful month for the Ravens placekicker. Tucker made every kick he tried in November, nailing nine field goals and six extra points as the Ravens went 2-2 to keep their playoff hopes from being extinguished.

The month went well enough that Tucker was also the special teamer of the week a couple of weeks ago and that he was also named the special teams player of the month on Wednesday. Tucker, like Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, won the monthly honor even though he still has one more game to play this month.

Tucker has now made 22 straight field goals and one more will give him the second-longest streak in Ravens history behind Matt Stover. Stover made 36 straight field goals to set the record, so Tucker may have to wait for 2014 to make a run at first place unless the Ravens offense completely loses its ability to score touchdowns.
