ravinmaniac52 Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 I worry more about Stewart could start at free safety head lines! Quote
Oldschool739 Posted April 1, 2014 Author Posted April 1, 2014 I worry more about Stewart could start at free safety head lines! That one is even scarier.....But I'm pretty sure Ozzie has his eye on a top safety in the draft, hopefully he ain't banking on Stewart to carry the load.....We might not make it thru pre season with him... papasmurfbell Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 So you don't believe in next man up? Brown has played well at times. Quote
oldno82 Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 So you don't believe in next man up? Brown has played well at times.Yeah, Brown should get a shot at least. Quote
Oldschool739 Posted April 2, 2014 Author Posted April 2, 2014 So you don't believe in next man up? Brown has played well at times.Yea but he has played equally bad at times too....Do you actually think he will be as solid as Graham or even close ? Quote
papasmurfbell Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Nobody knew Graham would play like he did until he got here and did it. He was a ST signing who stood up when the time was right. Quote

He was a ST signing who stood up when the time was right.True, but we do know Brown and he has been anything but consistent....I don't think Ozzie is gonna put a whole lot of trust in anyone that has played as sporadic as he has....But if we have to, I hope you're right....I don't expect it though. papasmurfbell Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Again there have been people in front of him so he hasn't really had a shot to step up. I do think they will draft a CB 1 to add more depth, 2 push Brown, and 3 Brown is coming to the end of his cheap days and I doubt they will keep him around past that time. Quote

papasmurfbell Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 And Graham while in Chi didn't push into the starting lineup or nickle package. He was like Brown is now. Quote
Oldschool739 Posted April 2, 2014 Author Posted April 2, 2014 And Graham while in Chi didn't push into the starting lineup or nickle package. He was like Brown is now.You have a valid point, and I have no idea how well Graham played before we got him except that he was not a starter in Chi but did well when on the field....I'm still skeptical after all the time Brown has had to show it and failed. ForceEight Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Chykie is actually pretty good, so I'm not sure where you're getting that opinion. No he's not a cover corner and no he doesn't have fantastic ball skills, but he has long arms and he's a really quick mover (fast recovery). He's perfect for the slot and I'd expect him to do better there than Webb was doing at the end of last season. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/4318/corey-grahamCheck out his stats. The last yr he played some D but not much. Quote

The last yr he played some D but not much.He did have his down moments, but he was a playmaker at crucial times....That's what I liked about him....I haven't seen that in Brown so far. Quote
Robjr83 Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Asa Jackson is a playmaker...at least in the preseason. I'm fine with either guy at corner. Quote
RavenousBG Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 If the team think that Chykie is ready for the opportunity then we shouldn't worry. Stewart may be more than anyone knows. I've referenced Jim Leonard before. So I think this is a wait and see. Unless we get HHCD, Brooks or one of the other highly rated safeties... Even if we did get one in the draft I doubt he starts. Same goes for CB. So sit tight. At least Chykie is working to be the number 3 as we speak. He's hungry and I like that! He'll beat out the rooks anyway. Knows the scheme. Quote
RavenMad Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 There are a few decent guys that could play FS in this draft that should/could be available where we pick. I think they all have the potential to start on opening day 1st round (Either at 17 or with a trade down)Clinton Dix, AlabamaPryor, Louisville 2nd roundBucannon, Washington StateWard, NIU 3rd roundReynolds, StanfordBailey, USC That's just the guys I really like. There are a few other guys that project to FS that could also be good players. Quote
cravnravn Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 It would have to be later round, Steve Smith is a stop gap this year, we still need a true #1,,wr and this is the year for it at #17. Quote

But WR is a very deep position in this year's draft. You might still be able to pick up a #1 WR in the 2nd round. What I like about this year's draft is we could go in a number of different directions in the 1st, come away with a good player and still be able to find starters in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th rounds at other positions. It's good that we have 6 picks in those first 4 rounds! Quote
Oldschool739 Posted April 2, 2014 Author Posted April 2, 2014 Hey Ed Reed is still unemployed Man , I'd feel good just knowing Ed was here....I know he ain't what he used to be and we have to move on, but he is a well of knowledge and could only be good for this team IMO.... Quote

I know what you mean. It's killing me that we probably have to draft a tackle or FS there. Killing me!Hey Ed Reed is still unemployed I doubt if he'd take the pay cut we'd give him. He's too proud. But if he's willing, so am I for a one year stopgap. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 I don't think Ozzie wants him in the building. The antics the last few yrs was to much. Quote
