dc. Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Bud hada nice farewell tweet... Bright up his crazy illness from earlier this year which I forgot about. Wish him the best. Still want another piece. Quote
thundercleetz Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 So the O's trade Tommy Hunter to the Cubs for AAA OF Junior Lake. I'm not sure if the O's see something in Lake and think he can contribute or if this is purely a salary dump/organizational move. I think the real value is the O's freeing up roster spots cutting the fat with trading Hunter and DFA'ing Snider and Norris, and giving a chance to stud prospect reliever prospect Mychal Givens. As much as the O's got better today, they were helped out even more that the Yanks did not get Kimbrel from the Padres, or any other impact player for that matter. Quote
dc. Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Heard Lake was once described as having unreal talent but the inability to harness it. Sounds like a potential classic late bloomer. He's still only 25, having a good season at AAA... Who knows Quote

dc. Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Probably not far off... Sometimes Pie flashed brilliance. Maybe this time we hit. Quote
Spen Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 I'm hearing Felix Pie being thrown around as a close comparison lol.Lol, I heard that too. Oh well, no more flop sweats for me when they'd bring Hunter in during a tense situation. Quote
thundercleetz Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 What a win! Givens pitched great. You love seeing guys like him do well after the rocky road he had to the majors transitioning from a highly drafted SS to a relief pitcher. Excited to see Parra bat lead off today! Quote
cravnravn Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Pretty sure we are in for a wild ride these upcoming weeks, a game out of the wild card, and I'm not sold in the Yankees, a-roid is on something I can feel it, and Tex is due for an injury. Quote
varaven45 Posted August 1, 2015 Author Posted August 1, 2015 The Yanks are doing it with smoke n mirrors. I don't see how it can last. Quote
cravnravn Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Don't look in the rear view mirror YankmeeFans Quote
thundercleetz Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Lineup looked awfully good last night with Machado and Parra at the top. Quote
thundercleetz Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Interesting take on Parra and his breakout year, and what that could mean for his potential as a hitter: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/instagraphs/gerardo-parra-changed-man/ We have to sign him to an extension. Quote
varaven45 Posted August 5, 2015 Author Posted August 5, 2015 We need those same bats on Wednesday after last nights yawner Quote
varaven45 Posted August 5, 2015 Author Posted August 5, 2015 Yep. For some reason, these no name triple A starters seem to kick our butts. Need to get off the Schnide and kick some butt and win the series. Then move on to LA. Quote
thundercleetz Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 @Orioles: The Orioles have recalled OF Junior Lake from Triple-A Norfolk and designated OF Travis Snider for assignment. @KenWeinmanSport: De Aza, Cabrera, Wright, Young, Norris & Snider= $22.2 million wasted. I can't remember any team DFAing so many "key parts" yikes #Orioles @KenWeinmanSport: Travis Snider DFA'd. I'm going out on a limb and saying we'll have a new executive of the year in #MLB this season #Orioles Who said Angelos doesn't spend? He threw $22.2M down the drain this year! On the flip side, Lake is having a great year. A slash line of .316/.411/.464/.875 in AAA this year across both the Cubs and O's organizations. His walks are up this year, 34 in 62 games, only 54 SO (including four walks in four games at Norfolk). The Cubs hired Manny Ramirez as a hitting consultant in their organization and I've read Lake has taken well to Manny's instruction. I'm excited to see what he can do! Quote
thundercleetz Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Tough loss last night. Both Guasman and Heaney were top ten picks in the 2012 MLB Draft and both guys had rough outings. Schoop is on a tear, great to see him hitting well. Have to win tonight to give us a chance to win this series. Need to get wins while the Jays and Yanks take each other out over the next week. Quote
cravnravn Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Bud Norris released, mixed feelings on that. One game at a time, pulling for a Tex pulled hammy and an a-roid bust Quote
dc. Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Norris news is old... Must've missed it before, crav. He could be back next year, but not with the roster spot and money these last few months. He'll get a contract for the next two months though... Quote
