vmax Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Tucker hit a 69 yard FG. Wide receiver Mike Wallace caught multiple touchdowns and was hit in the middle of the field several times. Wallace had a drop at the start of practice, but got encouragement from Harbaugh and bounced back with his strongest practice yet.Rookie undrafted linebacker Patrick Onwuasor continued his physical ways. Onwuasor first decked fellow undrafted rookie defensive tackle Trevon Coley on a special teams drill. Then he clobbered fullback Kyle Juszczyk on 11-on-11 red zone work. Juszczyk didn’t appreciate it and got in his face as the two were quickly separated. Onwuasor has now hit rookie Kenneth Dixon, run over Buck Allen and crushed Juszczyk.Wide receiver Kamar Aiken just keeps going about his business being one of the best offensive players on the field. He and Flacco connected on one of the prettiest plays of the day with a back-shoulder touchdown with Jimmy Smith in tight coverage....http://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/article-1/News-And-Notes-Justin-Tucker-Crushes-69-Yard-Field-Goal/16bf3a9b-e639-4c30-9664-2a66834e89b6 -The running backs have not shown very good pass-protection skills to this point in camp; middle linebacker C.J. Mosley easily shoved back Buck Allen. But Boyle was able to hold off Albert McClellan. -Outside linebacker Brennan Beyer, a practice-squad player last year, knocked running back Justin Forsett's helmet off as he came through the hole.-Quarterback Joe Flacco continued to show more accuracy than his backups, placing a beautiful ball over Kamar Aiken's right shoulder early in practice, resulting in a long gain. -The first long stretch of practices concludes Aug. 1 with the first of two M&T Bank Stadium workouts at 7 p.m. (gates open at 5:30). The stadium practice will be Military Appreciation Day, and all military personnel can enter at Gate B with valid military ID. The first day off from camp follows Aug. 2. The team will then practice four straight days, culminating in the second stadium workout Aug. 6...https://www.pressboxonline.com/2016/07/31/ravens-training-camp-day-4-harbs-wants-people-to-come-together Quote
oldno82 Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Not too pleased with the lack of pass protection by our backs. We don't want Joe getting hurt again this year. Juice especially should do better. Quote
tsylvester Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Not too pleased with the lack of pass protection by our backs. We don't want Joe getting hurt again this year. Juice especially should do better. It is early, they all did very well last year, especially Allen. This is likely just a case of someone looking to make rhe roster, a name for him self, vs some one already on the team and looking to take things slow at first. Could also be that the backer in question is a beast... Time will tell. Quote
Robjr83 Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 I doubt the DBs are going %100 on the WRs. My guess is you wont be able to tell till mid preseason how soft they are. Quote
tsylvester Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Tucker made a 69.5 yard field goal today, from the snap, with a holder... No rush though so who knows if it could have been blocked.. Quote

tsylvester Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 I think they added special lighting so it could grow in November and December when the sun barely hits it.That could make the difference. It does not get enough sun light in spring nor summer because they built the stadium facing the wrong way. vmax Posted August 8, 2016 Author Posted August 8, 2016 (edited) - Backup guard/center Ryan Jensen has gotten even stronger this offseason, accomplishing something offensive linemen on other teams only wish they could do: turning nose guard Brandon Williams and nearly putting him on the ground.- Apparently, Williams doesn't hold grudges. He absolutely pile-drove guard Jarell Broxton to the ground while getting penetration on a running play, then helped him back to his feet. - Cornerback Will Davis took a big gamble on a Waller slant route, going for the interception. But the pass arrived an instant before he got there, and Waller ran all alone after the catch.- During the one-on-one coverage drill, Butler perfectly gathered in a back-shoulder throw that seemed to leave Jimmy Smith flummoxed.- Keenan Reynolds seemed ready to gather in a short pass, but Powers climbed over the top and knocked the ball away....https://www.pressboxonline.com/2016/08/08/ravens-training-camp-day-10-more-pass-catching-targets-absent 1. Tight end Ben Watson does not look 35 years old.Watson made a couple of catches over the middle, and is clearly building chemistry with quarterback Joe Flacco.Tight ends Crockett Gillmore and Dennis Pitta missed Monday’s practice, and tight end Maxx Williams left practice early. But Watson keeps rolling along, and looks more and more like the starting tight end Week 1.http://www.csnmidatlantic.com/baltimore-ravens/five-observations-day-10-ravens-training-camp Come on Thursday night! - Another day, another big play from wide receiver Mike Wallace. The free-agent addition is having a standout camp and caught another perfect pass from Flacco in the corner of the end zone despite tight double coverage. Wallace was jacked up about it and spiked the ball into a fence and celebrated with a member of the grounds crew. Even the defensive coaches gave Wallace props as he went back to the huddle...http://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/article-1/News-And-Notes-88-Biggest-Hit-Of-Camp-Is-Scary-Moment/f14e56a3-1724-43e8-98cc-449e894a312d Edited August 8, 2016 by vmax Quote
oldno82 Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 Thanks for these, Max! Well, Thursday is the preseason opener and I'm getting pumped about watching our rookies and second year guys. Haven't heard many (any?) good reports on Mallett, have you? Quote

oldno82 Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 I don't think Mallet cuts it. We need a better solution. Have to compare him vs. Josh this Thursday. Quote
tsylvester Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 Kiss of death warning... Harbs said he expects all five players on PUP list to be ready for the season, regular, this year's, opening, including he who shall not be named..... Quote

QB Ryan Mallett With starter Joe Flacco not likely to play, Mallett -- entering the second and final season of his contract -- needs game-situation repetitions to develop a consistent rhythm and timing with the receivers. In camp, his accuracy has been spotty, and he has been easily flustered when things have gone wrong. Mallett has to develop some veteran-like composure to show he can be trusted if he needs to be called upon again...https://www.pressboxonline.com/2016/08/10/ten-ravens-to-watch-in-preseason-opener-against-panthers But when you wave black and gold in front of him, then he's a different man! tsylvester Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 I hope Stanley is well enough to play. We need him to play like a Raven. Or, at least like they used to. One of my biggest questions about him, how tough is he really? Quote
oldno82 Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Stanley looked like the real deal. He was really good on sealing off corridors on the running plays. I DVR-Ed the game. I'll have to look at his pass blocking. Quote
vmax Posted August 12, 2016 Author Posted August 12, 2016 Thank you Ham Newton.... The Panthers' celebrations need their preseason reps, too. Their lack of sharpness cost them a touchdown Thursday night. Not surprisingly, it was because of quarterback Cam Newton...........http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/cam-newtons-celebration-steals-touchdown-from-own-teammate/ar-BBvwwLB?li=BBnbfcL Quote

I'll have to look at his pass blocking.Yes, he looked good for the most part. He did give up big ground to bull rushers, almost gave up a sack a few times. Great quickness and speed getting to the second level and blocking his man(key). But he gives away a running or pass play by his stance. Easy to clean up. Quote
