If you ask me Flacco's injury presents a unique opportunity for Harbaugh. To put it succienctly, Flacco needs a fire lit under his ass and giving Mallet the chance to outperform him in this offense might be just the thing to do it.

I think Flacco's biggest problem since the SB is complacency. I think he cares about how he plays and wants to win but I question whether he lost the chip on his shoulder when he hoisted the Lombardi. The best players have a nasty competitive streak - a drive to do whatever it takes to be continue to be best even after they taste success. Does Joe?

I watched Harbaughs demeanor after the game, during his post game pressor and the pressor on Monday. I think it's clear Harbs is starting to feel the pressure of losing so many close games the past two seasons. He's starting to call people out. Usually he is quick to defend his players but he had no problem calling out the secondary and threatening jobs if they don't improve their play. He did this in multiple times over the past few days. I also found it interesting that he made it a point during one of he pressors to say the oline played well. He actually corrected a reporter that suggested the line played poorly because of the pressure on Flacco. Well if the oline played well and we know west had good numbers on the ground that indirectly singles out Joe as the problem. I don't think Joe did a good job handling the Giants blitz - does Harbs agree?

Anyway - the team remained competitive with Mallett atbqb last year so starting him wouldn't be throwing in the towel. in his current state of frustration/desperation will Harbs take this opportunity to try to spark his slumping QB by making him take a seat? The timing will never be better. Flacco hasn't practiced and Harbs can pass it off as trying to give Flacco and extended break with the bye coming up.

Nice post OTR and I agree that Flacco needs a fire lit under his ass.

Anything to make him to get him motivated and 100% dialed in to breaking a defense with the talent that he has around him.

Anything to get him to improve his throwing mechanics, accuracy and timing with his receivers.

Save Ryan "The Stealer Killer" Mallet for the Stealer game.

The offensive line did not play well overall. Sure, we can play semantics and say they played well for their skill level, but it still stunk. They played well for a play or two, a series or two, but not the game, they stunk.

Four tries to run the ball in, inside the 5, and they failed; line stunk.

Yes, Joe missed some throws, misread some coverages, but no, you do not bench him after one game with yet another offensive coordinator. People seem to forget how many this team has had during his career and how important continuity is to that position. Injury or not, he needs to play, not Mallet, who is likely to not be on the team next year anyway.
