tsylvester Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 Some like it hot, some not No more leaping, 2 unsportsmanlike penalties of a certain type play , ejection.Touchback spots the ball at the 25, for one season. One that Harbs pulled to win a game, no more multiple fouls on a play to kill time. Defensless receiver is in place, one I don't understand, makes actions to conserve time during the last 2 mins of either half, illegal.... So no more spiking the ball? http://m.startribune.com/nfl-passes-eight-new-rules-and-proposes-a-bunch-more/417355333/ Quote
papasmurfbell Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 I hate the rule to stop going over the snapper on FGs. I also can't believe they were considering if the ball goes through the uprights on a kickoff it would only go to the 20. That should be a point for the kicking team actually. Quote
vmax Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 .. Also, committing "multiple fouls in the same down designed to manipulate the clock" will result in an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. The Ravens, you might recall, deliberately committed multiple holding penalties as Sam Koch ran out the clock and then took a safety to end a 19-14 win against the Bengals. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 I knew they would change that after that game was over. Quote
tsylvester Posted March 29, 2017 Author Posted March 29, 2017 I knew they would change that after that game was over.It happened a few other times as well. One on a hail mary play, all the receivers were held and the Saints were forced to go for a field goal instead of a touchdown to end the half against the Niners. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 SF did it too. I believe those are the only two times. Quote
RavenMad Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 How would this rule change effect what we did in that game? Quote
tsylvester Posted March 31, 2017 Author Posted March 31, 2017 How would this rule change effect what we did in that game?It would be an unsportsmanlike penalty, I am guessing time would be put back on the clock and if needed an untimed down. Quote
RavenMad Posted April 1, 2017 Posted April 1, 2017 I didn't know they could put time back on the clock. I was thinking that you could still take the penalty and even if there was an untimed down you could still run the ball out of the back of the end zone or spike the ball to end the game. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted April 1, 2017 Posted April 1, 2017 It could be loss of down and the penalty. That would have given the ball to Cincy in scoring position. Quote
RavenMad Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 But if the previous play was a safety then the next play would be a kick from the 20. If there is time put back on the clock then it's a big deal, otherwise you just squib it 10 yards and smother the returner. Quote
tsylvester Posted April 3, 2017 Author Posted April 3, 2017 They would likely have to take the safety off the board, put the time back on the clock, then add the penalty yards and replay the down. I am sure we will get a real explanation soon. Quote
tsylvester Posted May 17, 2017 Author Posted May 17, 2017 Over time likely to be chopped down to 10 minute quarters in the regular season. Also likely to be passed is that teams will be allowed to bring back two players who were on IR http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2710141-nfl-owners-reportedly-to-vote-on-changes-to-regular-season-ot-time-and-ir-rule Now, if they would just pass the exclusion clause for one player so that his salary would not count against the cap... I would love to know if they have even talked about something alone those lines. Quote

tsylvester Posted May 24, 2017 Author Posted May 24, 2017 In a good move, teams now can keep 90 players through the preseason, owners, against Goody's wishes, voted to eliminate the 90-75 cut. I say good, because it gives guys on the bubble more time to make their case http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/goodell-loses-roster-cuts-fight-with-nfl-owners-but-preseason-battle-isnt-over/ Quote

I bet after a week they would know 10 they could do without. Quote

vmax Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 At least we know who's in charge.... During the first Super Bowl in 1967, NBC was still in commercial when the second half kicked off. Officials asked the Packers to kick off again.....http://www.msn.com/en-us/lifestyle/smart-living/116-amazing-facts-for-people-who-like-amazing-facts/ss-AAnzXBJ?li=BBnb7Kz#image=98 Quote
