tsylvester Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 Well, they have been killing the other side of the field and down the middle, no need to throw his way and get a free 15 yard pi... Quote
vmax Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 He's been the shutdown guy and off to his best season ever because he's been relatively healthy.Definitely a bright spot and top 5 CB....maybe higher. Moore rarely gets sacked, but most of those sacks and QB hits were coverage sacks. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted October 30, 2017 Author Posted October 30, 2017 The CBs have been great. The safeties have not. Weddle is old. I think Jefferson was a system guy. Quote
varaven45 Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 I'd like to see Humphrey get some more reps at the other CB. And Jaylen Hill, too. I'd like to see Chuck Clark eventually get some reps at safety, instead of just ST. He's a rookie from Va Tech and is a thumper. He'd be a nice replacement for either Weddle or Jefferson. Secondary of Smith, Humphrey, Hill and Clark? that's the making of a good strong unit for years to come. Quote
vmax Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 Here's Prestons mid season report on the Ravens #7 ranked secondary. Cornerbacks Jimmy Smith, Brandon Carr and Marlon Humphrey have played well. If Smith stays healthy, he could become the top corner the Ravens envisioned when they drafted him in the first round in 2011. All three cornerbacks play without fear and can play press coverage. All three can run, and both Carr and Smith have played well in run support. The play of the safeties has been a problem. Both Eric Weddle and Tony Jefferson have struggled in tackling and pass coverage. Because both are veterans, they are expected to pull through this mini-slump. Grade: C+..........http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/ravens-insider/bs-sp-preston-ravens-grades-20171030-story.html One more playmaker on the D line, at safety and at LB and this could be a very strong unit. varaven45 Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 Thanks Max. Preston makes sense as do your comments. Still would like to a continuation of the younger guys in the secondary- so as to transition away from Webb, Weddle etc. Going in a positive direction on D, esp if we can secure another pass rushing LB, DL. papasmurfbell Posted October 31, 2017 Author Posted October 31, 2017 Other than safety the DBs have been excellent. Quote
oldno82 Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 And we will eventually get Canady and Young back next year. Quote
vmax Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 Yea...so things on D are headed in the right direction. I don't agree with this mid season power ranking..... 25. Ravens (28): They're MVP might be DT Brandon Williams. Baltimore is 3-1 when their massive run stuffer is in lineup and 1-3 without him.........https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/nfl-week-9-power-rankings/ss-AAugysh?li=BBnba9I#image=8 16 teams have worse records than the Ravens. The Ravens are actually in the playoff hunt.3 cheers for Mediocrity! papasmurfbell Posted October 31, 2017 Author Posted October 31, 2017 They can't make it and can't play with the top 5 or so teams. Just bc so much of the league is in the same boat doesn't make it a happy situation. Quote
