Allen officially was listed on the league's transaction report today.#AndWereOff 1856:32 PM - Mar 4, 2019 Why? I don't get this move at all. Quote

On Tuesday, the tight end will meet with the Ravens, a source tells Adam Schefter of ESPN.com (on Twitter). The Ravens are looking for blocking tight ends with both Nick Boyle and Maxx Williamsscheduled for free agency, so Allen could be a fit. Utilized as more of an offensive weapon in his early days with the Colts, Allen settled into a more blocking-forward role with the Patriots in the last two seasons. Allen could also provide veteran counsel to tight ends Hayden Hurst and Mark Andrews, both of whom were selected in last year’s draft. Allen, 29, recorded just 13 catches for 113 yards and one touchdown in his two seasons with the Patriots. In 2016, his last year with the Colts, he put up 35 catches for 406 yards and six TDs. Quote
oldno82 Posted March 6, 2019 Posted March 6, 2019 Me too and Boyle can catch as well as block. Maybe they want 2 blocking TE's at times? Quote
papasmurfbell Posted March 6, 2019 Author Posted March 6, 2019 Hrst showed to be a good blocker when healthy. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted March 7, 2019 Author Posted March 7, 2019 http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/26163918/te-boyle-ravens-agree-new-contract The Baltimore Ravens and tight end Nick Boyle have agreed on a new three-year contract, a source told ESPN's Dan Graziano Thursday.Boyle had been eligible for unrestricted free agency next week and was expected to draw some interest from other teams. Negotiating play to get Nick to drop his price? Quote
GrubberRaven Posted March 7, 2019 Posted March 7, 2019 I like Nick as a player, but can't stand how much he's been suspended...hope it doesn't bite us in the ass Quote
papasmurfbell Posted March 7, 2019 Author Posted March 7, 2019 He has had 2 yrs of good conduct. I wonder if there are clawbacks if he does get suspended. Quote
vmax Posted March 7, 2019 Posted March 7, 2019 Good signing.3 years. 18 mil. He's a critical piece to this new offense. 280 pounds leading the way. there is no better blocker, Harbaugh said, than the 26-year-old with a soft spot for his dogs and remote-control car. According to Pro Football Focus, Boyle led all NFL tight ends in run-blocking snaps in the regular season's final seven weeks — the seven weeks in which quarterback Lamar Jackson started after taking over for Joe Flacco. On a team with one of the NFL’s top rookie receivers (Mark Andrews), a first-round draft pick (Hayden Hurst) and a former second-round pick (Maxx Williams), Boyle led all Ravens tight ends in snaps. The former fifth-round pick set career highs as a receiver, finishing with 213 yards and 9.3 yards per catch in 16 games (13 starts).........“I think Nick is a huge piece of our offense going forward from the standpoint of how he plays, the tone he sets, the type of player he is,” Harbaugh said Thursday. “I think he's an all-around tight end. … He sets the edge. He sets the tempo. He's a physical presence out there, but he's definitely an underrated talent in the passing game. You've seen that when he gets an opportunity to catch passes and run routes, he makes those plays.”...........https://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/bs-sp-ravens-nick-boyle-extension-20190307-story.html Quote
vmax Posted March 7, 2019 Posted March 7, 2019 Sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter that at least 10 teams were interested in Boyle if he had hit the free-agent market, and one coach told Schefter that Boyle "would have been the best tight end to hit free agency in the last three years.".....http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/26163918/ravens-keep-coveted-te-boyle-3-year-deal Quote
oldno82 Posted March 8, 2019 Posted March 8, 2019 We needed him. Like Grubber said above though, I hope he can stay out of trouble. Quote
GrubberRaven Posted March 8, 2019 Posted March 8, 2019 Felt his second suspension was more recent, but I looked it up. Thanks. Quote
