Crazy fast............

But putting Brown's speed into real on-field metrics is a different story. Even still recovering from his injury, Brown put on a crazy display of speed at training camp. According to cornerback Marlon Humphrey, Brown was clocked in at 21 mph during a run. To put that number into context, the fastest ballcarriers last season topped out at around 21-22 mph, according to the NFL's next-gen stats. Considering Brown likely isn't at 100% yet and will actually get faster, it's not out of the realm of possibility that he'll be able to top 22 mph at some point. That would put Brown in the running as the absolute fastest ballcarrier in the NFL.

The Ravens would love to have that level of speed on the field this season. With a new offensive scheme thanks to new coordinator Greg Roman and quarterback Lamar Jackson fine-tuning his deep ball, Brown could be at the receiving end of some big plays this season. That's likely why some analysts have been predicting a huge season for Brown and why he's a contender for the NFL's Rookie of the Year award.

If Brown comes through with that type of speed and Jackson can improve his accuracy, Baltimore's offense could be absolutely deadly. And the Ravens might have finally found their answer at wide receiver after trying for so long...https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/ravens-rookie-wr-marquise-brown-is-even-faster-than-youd-think/ar-AAF8cpX?ocid=U508DHP

Asked whether he feels as fast now as he did before his injury, Brown said he didn’t know.

“I really haven’t gotten to flat out run yet, but as far as just moving around, I feel like I’m moving pretty good,” Brown said before joking with a reporter. “I’d beat you.”

Based on what I'm hearing and reading my main cause for concern right now is the consistent daily pattern of off sides and procedural penalties. Add to this the dropped balls by receivers on Wednesday and Thursday and a recipe for disaster is in the making.

Penalties set the defense and offense in holes. They are drive killers.

Throw in a turnover or 2 by Lamar and you have a loss.

A 6-10 season.

This has to completely change by opening day.

Not much reported about todays joint practice....but...I'll take this....

Jamison Hensley ESPN Staff Writer

In joint practice with Jaguars, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson was 15-of-22 (68.1 percent) :gorave: during 7-on-7/team drills. Jackson started off hot, connecting on 9 of his first 10 throws before tailing off. Overall, he's throwing the ball with a lot of confidence in training camp.

Lamar Jackson was really good today vs. the Jaguars.

He opened full-team drills by completing 5-straight passes, with three of them going to targets covered by Pro Bowl CB Jalen Ramsey..... :gorave:

And this...Vinny Cerrato thought Brown was going to have his ass handed to him....

Brown has returned to being a first-team fixture since the end of last week, however, and he held his own Monday against the Jaguars’ Pro Bowl defensive end Calais Campbell.

“I use everything in my life as motivation, good or bad,” Brown said. “I’m just happy to be out there right now, and I’m going to continue to work.”....https://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/bs-sp-ravens-jaguars-notes-20190805-jpyp7npe6zfhnltpiuoxinu6ne-story.html

Well that post made my day regarding the offense. I wonder how the D stacked up.

Really glad to hear Orlando Brown is out of the doghouse. We need him playing. I feel he'll have an even better year this year than last year.

With Lewis unloaded I am concerned about the LG situation. We really don't have a starting guard. They may have to make a trade.

Some more notes from the Ravens website....

Seth Roberts also enjoyed a strong day at wide receiver, catching two touchdown passes during the early portion of drills. Acquired from the Oakland Raiders during free agency, Roberts seems to have found his comfort level.
Wide receiver Antoine Wesley made another impressive leaping grab over a Jaguars defender, using his 6-foot-4 size to his advantage. Wesley keeps making plays in his battle to make the roster as an undrafted free agent.

Ravens outside linebacker Tyus Bowser had the defensive highlight of the day, intercepting a pass that was initially tipped by the intended Jaguars receiver and returning the pick for a touchdown. Bowser is one of many players vying for time at outside linebacker. Making opportunistic plays won’t hurt Bowser’s chances, but Defensive Line Coach Joe Cullen amplified that this was a crucial year for both Bowser and Tim Williams at outside linebacker. “They have to do it right now,” Cullen said. “The clock has ticked, and it’s ready to explode. They have to do it in these games.”

Here are other notes from practice:

Lamar Jackson had another precise day overall outside of an interception on a clear communication error between he and his receiver (picked off by Brandon Carr). Harbaugh said somebody recently talked to Jackson about his strong grasp of the offense. His response: “Well, I know what I’m doing.”
Tight end Mark Andrews had another dominant day. He’s going to be a handful for opposing teams in the red zone. While Andrews has gotten a lot of buzz this summer, don’t forget about Hayden Hurst either. The fellow second-year tight end is getting good separation.
Veteran defensive back Bennett Jackson made one of the best interceptions of training camp thus far when he ranged far and went high to pick off a pass intended for undrafted rookie Antoine Wesley.
Speaking of Wesley, he stood out once again. He has a real knack for going up and high-pointing the football. Wesley wins a lot of one-on-one matchups (though rookie cornerback Iman Marshall did a nice job breaking one long one up).
Rookie wide receiver Miles Boykin hauled in a deep pass behind Marshall. Boykin is excellent at separating at the top of his route, showing another gear to finish the play.....https://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/practice-report-8-10-marquise-hollywood-brown-takes-next-step-to-team-drills

Ravens first-round pick Hollywood Brown lined up in full team drills for the first time Saturday, and teammates let him hear about it. Linebacker Patrick Onwuasor told him, "You're Holly right now. You don't get the full name." Brown said after practice, "I'm just trying to make some plays and earn my name."

Ravens QB Lamar Jackson was 23-of-31 (74.1 percent) in 7-on-7 and team drills Saturday. There were a couple of drops and one interception (Brandon Carr in the end zone). Nearly half of his completions (11 of them) went to tight ends.

Saturday 8/10/19

Boller had camp days like that too, dispite what the bag of donuts said back then.

I know it was only 6 passes last week, but of his 4 completions, two were actually 1 yard passes with runs after, including the wr screan for a td. Another was a lucky break that Moore was 1) there & 2) able to keep it off the ground.(badly over threw the tight end crossing into the flat)

The 4th was a roll out and straight easy throw.

In other words, same as last year with his "accuracy" and types of passes.

He still has not shown he can throw an out route, nor any timing route to the outside of the middle of the field from the pocket.

Only throws right in front of him on a line.

I hope we see improvement in the little time he spends in the game tonight.

Hey, I like a qb who can throw on the run, don't get me wrong. But throughout his career and all of last year he has struggled with all of the throws from the pocket outside the hash, especially those 10 yard out routes.

All off seasons people talked about how he worked with a qb specialist on his mechanics & accuracy. Into this preseason how he is a different thrower.

So far none of that is apparent, granted it was only practice & six passes in his first preseason game this year.

I hope he improves, but if he doesn't, this team is doomed, last year, record wise, was an aborition.

Well, more of the same, anything in front of him he can complete, strange they never called out routes, maybe they are saving them for the season..

The first throw should have been a back shoulder throw since the db was on top of the wr, that takes time to learn.

Even so, he was not seeing the field clearly, he missed a few open receivers crossing the field and opted for other targets for either less gain, or, were incomplete. Only 10 passes so it is difficult to gauge, but we do what we can with what we have.

The running game looks solid, the defense has to step up its coverage when they preasure the pocket, but overall, minus the injury, a good showing.

Earl Thomas, I hope it was rust and the fact it was pre season, he looked gimpy and slow....

Hard to get a good evaluation of the D with Rodgers out. Our Running game looks to be very good. I like the RB rotation they’ve got.

Agree that Lamar was uneven. Receivers effort was there but they were uneven too.

McSorely looks decent. His performance was a plus.

They have to be able to pass more outside the numbers.

They have to find a way to keep Trace. I don't see him making it through waivers.

He is a natural leader, frankly while he has been a typical late round qb, he clearly can play at this level as a good back up for many years.

I wish they would get a new play by play guy, Sandusky has gotten worse with each year and he started out terrible....

Well, when the play clock runs out and the qb doesn't know it, the coach calls the time out and you praise the qb for knowing that a player was out of position and calling a time out, you have issues.

He does it time & again, I get he needs to pump the team and over explain things for the radio, but he is bad....
