deeshopper Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 BEREA, Ohio (AP) — The Cleveland Browns have fired coach Eric Mangini following a second straight 5-11 season that ended with a humiliating home loss to the rival Pittsburgh Steelers. He was dismissed during a Monday morning meeting with team president Mike Holmgren, the club said in a statement. Mangini went just 10-22 with the Browns and finished his second season with a four-game losing streak. Cleveland went 2-6 following an upset of NFL heavyweight New England on Nov. 7 — a victory that seemed like a turning point. Instead, it only triggered a slide. cravnravn Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 So who's the next fool to want to go to the Elephants Graveyard? Mike Holgrem himself.
vmax Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Before anyone mentions other big-name coaches such as Jon Gruden or Bill Cowher, here’s the harsh reality about the Browns: It’s not a very attractive job for A-list head coaches. Cleveland changes regimes every two or three years. It's an unstable organization that lacks talent and has trouble competing with AFC North heavyweights Baltimore and Pittsburgh. A-listers will pass on Cleveland for better opportunities. Therefore, the only big-name coach the Browns have a chance to land this year is Holmgren. Ya Think?!
