varaven45 Posted December 7, 2021 Posted December 7, 2021 what do you think for the Browns game we run - a la Belichick versus Buffalo - and try to run the ball 40 to 50 times just to keep the game score low and try to require a run game for the stretch run? maybe reinsert Tyson Williams and Nate McCrary into the lineup just as an infusion of energy and speed. thoughts ? papasmurfbell Posted December 7, 2021 Posted December 7, 2021 I am all for it. I have not seen a guy come out of the dog house when their skills are needed though. Quote
tsylvester Posted December 7, 2021 Posted December 7, 2021 Mcrary ran into the back of his own man and fell down, jitters... Can't argue with the way Freeman was running, quick, elusive, great vision. I would keep him as starter. Murray however, aside from a big catch & run first down still looks slow, maybe take some of his carries and give to the yuts. We've been yelling dor Roman to stick with personnel and running for weeks now. May as well try and limit the exposure of the defense by eating clock. No more 3 passes amd out taking no time off of the clock Quote
vmax Posted December 7, 2021 Posted December 7, 2021 What Belecheat did was smart and dictated by the weather 23 degree wind chill and up to 50mph gusts. He wouldn't do that in decent weather. The Ravens ran the ball 43 times for 148 yards and 3.4 ypc. week 12 against the Browns. Lamar had 68 of those yards. Freeman averaged 3.3ypc. Murray 1.8. They passed 32 times. weather forecast 41 degrees and partly sunny in Cleveland on Sunday. So...the Ravens did what you ask..run 40-50 times....they ran 43 times. Quote
varaven45 Posted December 7, 2021 Author Posted December 7, 2021 And wouldn’t Tyson And Nate provide a nice change up an infusion of fresh legs? Would love to know the inside scoop on why Tyson has been in the doghouse all year Quote
oldno82 Posted December 7, 2021 Posted December 7, 2021 Freeman is the hot hand right now and I'd stick with him first then McCrary. Tyson, in the very limited exposure he's had, didn't excite. He could certainly take a few more carries. But, to be real here, none of those guys is JK Dobbins or Gus Williams. Losing those guys killed our running game along with the Stanley re-injury. And now we lost the other tackle to boot. It's going to be a fair question after the season to see if our training staff needs a serious shakeup. While all teams have injuries, the number we've had is totally ridiculous. Quote

Williams pulled down 100+ a couple times. The whole league has majors injury issues. As always I think it is the cba. Quote
