vmax Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 (edited) Fact: Baltimore makes sure Smith remains center of defense after making a huge impact. In his 9 games, Ravens allowed 14.7 points, 2nd-fewest in NFL. Edited January 10, 2023 by vmax Quote

varaven45 Posted January 10, 2023 Author Posted January 10, 2023 Yep, stacking the D! Relative to the D, we just need to fortify the DL (assuming Calais departure), strengthen CB opposite Humph (assuming Peters is gone), acquire/develop a big-time pass rusher, and acquire/develop a safety alongside Marcus Williams. Do those four things, we are talking D! Quote
tsylvester Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 Lots of very good corners coming out in the draft. The Ravens have a number of very good players who will or should turn out to be good safeties. Good depth on the defensive line, but also a few very good ones coming in the draft. Smith is a very cerebral linebacker, if you watch closely, you can see him point out the plays. More than that though, you can see other players start to do the same. We haven't seen that since Ray & Ed. He just makes the entire defense better. I would rather have seen them lock him up for 7 or even 10, but maybe he didn't want that long. Either way, no matter what happens with Lamar, Smith is here.. Quote
oldno82 Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 This GREAT news! He is both literally and figuratively the heart of the defense and will anchor it for years to come. Nice work by EDC, Bisciotti and the rest of the F.O. Quote
vmax Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 eff Zrebiec • TweetShift BOT — Today at 5:12 PM The Ravens bring back TE Nick Boyle to the practice squad, as head coach John Harbaugh suggested they'd do Monday. To make room, they released DL Christian Ringo. [5:16 PM] Count Ray Lewis as being a fan of the Ravens extending Roquan Smith, who the Hall of Fame MLB met yrs ago at an Under Armour football camp. “That’s the way the linebacker position is played,” Lewis said Tuesday. “He’s built to play the linebacker position. I love Roquan Smith." [5:18 PM] More Ray Lewis on Roquan: "What he does very well: Find it, get to it and punish it. Although he’s not a rah-rah guy, his leadership is on the other side of what people give him credit for. He challenges people to know it, to understand it, to feel it and to be accountable.” Quote

vmax Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 (edited) Jeff Zrebiec • TweetShift BOT — Today at 3:39 PM Roquan Smith also has been voted the Ravens team MVP by the local media. Quite a week for Roquan. “I’m excited to be here for the long haul. It felt like home right away.” Edited January 11, 2023 by vmax Quote
vmax Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 (edited) Jeff Zrebiec • TweetShift BOT — Today at 3:43 PM Roquan Smith said his contract talks with Ravens started in mid-December. He represented himself. Said he did contract talks via email and also met with DeCosta during off days. Smith said he feels like he could’ve gotten more in free agency but he wanted to stay where he’s at. I guess the Ravens Front Office and team is not as bad as some think. Jeff Zrebiec • TweetShift BOT — Today at 3:47 PM Asked about some of the Bengals talk and accusations of cheap play, Roquan Smith smiled and said, “See you Sunday.” Edited January 11, 2023 by vmax Quote
tsylvester Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 What, you mean a person can negotiate a contract while you play? Shocking Quote
