thesteelhurtin Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Just named the starter on sunday i predict a long day for him Quote
papasmurfbell Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 I don't expect to see any of the three in there all the time. I see a rotation depending on situation. Quote
yagersports Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 That is garbage. Pollard is far and away a better safety! I like Zib n all, but not starting Pollard is asking for trouble. Quote
vmax Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 (edited) Pollard is weak in coverage...plain and simple...Zibby is better and Nakamura probably even better. Pagano will be using packages for the three of them to maximize their strengths. “For me, when it’s time for me to get on the field, when that package comes up, you’re going to see 31 playing hard.” With Tom Zbikowski reportedly starting the Steelers game, Pollard is expected to play in situations that take advantage of his skill set. “As a play-caller on defense, it gives you an opportunity to do some things with him, because he’s not just a box defender,” said Pagano. “He’s going to show up in the run game – obviously you saw that in the preseason – and you can bring him from almost anywhere on the field. "We’re all battling, and I think Chuck’s doing a great job of trying to create packages for guys,” said Pollard. “I tell a lot of people, Chuck goes into a fight with every weapon he has drawn.http://blogs.baltimoreravens.com/2011/09/08/ravens-set-to-unleash-the-angry-man/ I don't think the Ravens are worried about the Steelers rushing attack. So Pollard won't be a big need Sunday. It's the big play passes. Edited September 9, 2011 by vmax Quote
yagersports Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Mendenhall can kill a team and I don't e pext the Steelers to abandon the run. How is Nakamura better in coverage? Didn't he blow the 3rd n a gazillion last year. That mofo should not hit the field period. Quote
thesteelhurtin Posted September 9, 2011 Author Posted September 9, 2011 Yeah mendy ran gor almost 1300 yards and 13redman tds Quote
OutsideRzAcE Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Yeah mendy ran gor almost 1300 yards and 13redman tds How many yards against the Ravens? Mendenhall will not beat the Ravens....Rothlisberger is who we need to worry about. As for Zib being the starter..he's more familiar, but like papa said, it doesn't really matter who starts, Pollard will get plenty of PT Quote
vmax Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 How many yards against the Ravens? Mendenhall will not beat the Ravens.... 19 carries for 45 yards...2.4ypc. They ain't running. Quote
varaven45 Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Id still rather have the thumper - Pollard - and his kick arse attitude in there. In terms of coverage, he looked pretty dang good in the pre-season.Yeah, yeah, I know its just the pre-season. Just saying .... Quote
papasmurfbell Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 You had a thumper who could cover his mouth last yr. How successful was that? Quote
OutsideRzAcE Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 Landry hasn't been a thumper since he got knocked out against Cleveland a few years ago. Quote
PAfin4life Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 Just named the starter on sunday i predict a long day for himI would agree that Pittsburgh goes his direction a lot of Sunday but that doesn't necessarily mean he will be the weak link. I also expect Pittsburgh to run the ball down the middle of the field quite a bit. It may not succeed but it's crucial Pittsburgh sticks to the running game... Quote
