...oh, and we also see our new punter and if Loop shows any signs of not having gotten over his miss from last year. I've read Loop has been very accurate in camp though he wasn't so in the practice at College Park before a live crowd.

I'm not concerned with whether they win or lose tonight. I'm more looking to see how efficiently the new coaches function, how the rookies play, and how the centers and kickers play. Also hoping for no injuries.

Just to have football back to watch is great...it's been a long and eventful off-season.

Good, efficient and effective showing tonight in 24-7 win. Lots of pluses and a few minuses:

Pluses: 1) defensive effort and corresponding results. The Eagles were hapless on offense.

              2) Joe Fagnano's superb, in command performance both as a game manager and passer. In his first pro game the only gaffe was the INT in the endzone and that was offset by a TD pass, very good completion rate, and overall competence. 

                3) Ja'Kobi Lane looks like the real deal and Surratt overcame a fumble to chalk up a nice first time outing.

                 4) Running back Craig Randall, a converted WR, who ran hard and wore down the Philly D along with the other backs.

                    5) No errors by either Minter or Doyle that I could see and a general lack of penalties.

Minuses:

                       1)Tyler Loop has me worried. He missed a 49 yarder. Not a chip shot but he was way off. Bring in a veteran to mentor him and provide some competition.

                         2) The punting was uneven. Maybe bring in another body there too.

 

But all in all, I was very happy with the overall play of the team. It's only pre-season I know but it was still a good start.

Geez. I almost forgot. Hibner looked more than solid with speed and good hands. A relief for sure. He just needs to keep it up.

Just what we wanted to see: aggressive, dominant in one on one match ups, consistent in scheme. 

Just one preseason, but it is shaping up like this will be a banner draft class.
