oldno82 Posted Friday at 10:48 PM Author Posted Friday at 10:48 PM ...oh, and we also see our new punter and if Loop shows any signs of not having gotten over his miss from last year. I've read Loop has been very accurate in camp though he wasn't so in the practice at College Park before a live crowd. 1 Quote
oldno82 Posted Saturday at 02:52 PM Author Posted Saturday at 02:52 PM I'm not concerned with whether they win or lose tonight. I'm more looking to see how efficiently the new coaches function, how the rookies play, and how the centers and kickers play. Also hoping for no injuries. Just to have football back to watch is great...it's been a long and eventful off-season. Quote
tsylvester Posted Saturday at 03:46 PM Posted Saturday at 03:46 PM Yeah, judt want to see them play hard, with passion, it has nof been seen in this team for some time A cheer the cheer leaders from my youth used ro say: be aggressive, B E aggressive! Quote
papasmurfbell Posted Saturday at 05:08 PM Posted Saturday at 05:08 PM Just confirming. Wbal has the game tonight? Quote

oldno82 Posted yesterday at 05:49 AM Author Posted yesterday at 05:49 AM Good, efficient and effective showing tonight in 24-7 win. Lots of pluses and a few minuses: Pluses: 1) defensive effort and corresponding results. The Eagles were hapless on offense. 2) Joe Fagnano's superb, in command performance both as a game manager and passer. In his first pro game the only gaffe was the INT in the endzone and that was offset by a TD pass, very good completion rate, and overall competence. 3) Ja'Kobi Lane looks like the real deal and Surratt overcame a fumble to chalk up a nice first time outing. 4) Running back Craig Randall, a converted WR, who ran hard and wore down the Philly D along with the other backs. 5) No errors by either Minter or Doyle that I could see and a general lack of penalties. Minuses: 1)Tyler Loop has me worried. He missed a 49 yarder. Not a chip shot but he was way off. Bring in a veteran to mentor him and provide some competition. 2) The punting was uneven. Maybe bring in another body there too. But all in all, I was very happy with the overall play of the team. It's only pre-season I know but it was still a good start. Geez. I almost forgot. Hibner looked more than solid with speed and good hands. A relief for sure. He just needs to keep it up. Quote
tsylvester Posted yesterday at 10:17 AM Posted yesterday at 10:17 AM Just what we wanted to see: aggressive, dominant in one on one match ups, consistent in scheme. Just one preseason, but it is shaping up like this will be a banner draft class. Quote
tsylvester Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago (edited) Fagnano did just what they wanted him to do; give the pass catchers a chance to shine. Really nice job. Now, is he a one hit wonder? Punting issues I think were nerves, trying to do too much. He should get things straightened out. Loop, sadly, I think I agree, time to put pressure on him and bring in another leg. That first 49 yarder was clearly just poor aim, left hash, he, for some reason started it just off center to the right and it kept going right. Can't have that; was that simply an oops or is he having issues with alignment? Edited 22 hours ago by tsylvester Quote
oldno82 Posted 15 hours ago Author Posted 15 hours ago I was impressed with Fagnano. He just looked to me like he gets it. As you say, it's just one game but it'll be interesting to see how he does through the rest of the preseason. All the receivers looked good as well. Everybody looked like they knew where they were supposed to be and made plays. I was most happy about Lane, Hibner, and Surratt (despite the punchout fumble). D was motivated and didn't show any breakdowns. Here's hoping they all can stack these types of performances. I do want to see a better pass rush but may have to wait until the regular season for that to start with Hendrickson, and (a big hope here) Madds playing. Quote
GrubberRaven Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I would take Fagano over Snoop in a heartbeat. Snoop will always be Temu Lamar. I think we're past the offense being designed around Lamar phase of Lamar's career which is why we needed Snoop. Lamar has evolved. Snoop is still Snoop. This D is night and day and the O-line looked reborn. Preseason hype for sure, but lots of reason to hope. Quote
oldno82 Posted 3 hours ago Author Posted 3 hours ago Grub, I agree with you as long as Fagnano can even come close to what he showed Saturday. It's only one pre-season game but he looked like a seasoned quarterback. The rest of the team was solid too with the exception of the kickers. We'll see how they fare next week. Quote
tsylvester Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Good to see you back Dee and Grub. Nano, my name for him to honor my late great childhood friend, is a rookie, an older rookie but a rookie. I do agree, this offense, & Lamar, are moving toward a pocket passing scheme. Snoop can do well in it if need be, we just can't expect him to throw for a lot of air yards, just run after catch yards. Im sure now that the Miami cast off has been put on ir, Nano will be the 3rd qb if he continues to shine as he did. But a pocket offense needs a great line, or at least a good line. 1st preseason game, they were average at best. While I do expect them to be better than last year, it will take a little time. Here is a pretty good look at the line, while it focuses on loane, you can focus on any of them. Quote
