papasmurfbell Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 Ravens want Bryant McKinnie to get in better shape Quote
Dunno Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 I am not surprised. Ramon Harewood will be the starting LT. Quote
vmax Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 (edited) What friggn'n morons. Nobody's in great shape this time of year.Nobody.Being 360 right now is a very good sign. "He had done a good job, he’d been working in the offseason, he’s training,” Harbaugh said. “He’s in the same shape he was in when he left. We want to improve that from now until the start of next season.”Harbaugh said it’s going to be really important to see what McKinnie does between now and when the offseason program starts on April 16th. They want him to participate that throughout the strength and conditioning program, football school and organized team activities that run into early June so “he gets in the kind of shape he needs to be in,” Harbaugh said.http://blogs.baltimo...kinnies-weight/ You can spin an article any way you want. Here's mine: The Ravens are saying they like where's he's at by giving him a contract. They are also saying they want to improve on where he's at so he can make more of an impact. If he shows up for weight training then don"t worry at all. He'll be better than last year. Edited April 2, 2012 by vmax Quote
thundercleetz Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 Considering the guy was around 380 this time last year, I say being 360 and in the same shape as he was at season's end is a good thing. He has a whole offseason to improve on that. Ozzie met with McKinnie a few weeks ago in person to decide whether to pick up his roster bonus or cut him and go after a guy like Eric Winston (possibly moving Oher back to LT). However Ozzie decided that McKinnie was in the right mindset. I trust Ozzie's decision. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted April 4, 2012 Author Posted April 4, 2012 They want him down lower now. They aren't very happy. I only said he isn't in great shape. I didn't say he was sloppy fat. Quote
RavensDomination Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 500k is beans to Bisciotti. This idiot still has a good chance of getting cut, and I hope it happens. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted April 6, 2012 Author Posted April 6, 2012 The problem is they are so hard on the cap that they might have to ride with him. Quote

The problem is they are so hard on the cap that they might have to ride with him. They'll have to unless they can pull a couple of rabbits out of the hat in the draft. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted April 6, 2012 Author Posted April 6, 2012 No need to pull rabits. Ride with the guy for the yr. He was OK last yr. Get his replacement in this draft and ride with that guy in 2013. He should get in the best shape he can. Training camp is not that far out. Quote

ForceEight Posted April 7, 2012 Posted April 7, 2012 Yeah, I don't understand any of the negativity about him. Unless you're closet Vikings fans, he's a good player for us and there's no reason to believe that he won't continue to be. The guy is working, cut him a damn break. He is not nearly a concern right now. And he's not going anywhere. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted April 9, 2012 Author Posted April 9, 2012 Yeah the Ravens really don't need dead money. Quote

We want to improve that from now until the start of next season.“It’s going to be really important what he does between now and when the offseason program starts on through June that he gets in the kind of shape he needs to be in. It’s not like he’s a big, fat guy. He’s a big guy. We still want him to be able to move a little better and get a little quicker.” Needing to pay back that $4mil loan helps too. Quote

vmax Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Good because contrary to scouting reports, KO is a tackle only. That should push McKinnie over the top thjis year...and needing money. Quote

vmax Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 If McKinnie keeps working and gets himself down to 350, he’s still talented enough to be one of the best left tackles in the NFL. That's what I want to hear. Quote
