vmax
The loss of tight end Dennis Pitta -- who could miss the entire preseason and maybe even the season opener because of a broken hand -- really hurts the Ravens. Despite the team having another quality tight end in Ed Dickson, Pitta is the better of the two players. Dickson has more speed and is more of a deep threat, but Pitta has been more consistent catching the ball. He is also a better blocker on running plays, although both players needed to improve from a year ago. Dickson had become a liability as a blocker on short-yardage running plays. Just as important was Pitta's versatility. Dickson could play on the outside as a receiver, but Pitta doubled as a fullback behind starter Vonta Leach. That's extremely important for a team that has only one fullback -- Leach -- on the roster. Pitta had become one of quarterback Joe Flacco's favorite receivers and the two had become close friends off the field as well.http://www.baltimore...,0,162282.story This sucks. papasmurfbell
Actually this could be a good thing. Joe gets more reps to workk with Ed and get into a solid groove there.

papasmurfbell
Like I said this could be a good thing. It is not like they don't have depth at TE.
varaven45
Who is our No 3 TE ? Is Algae Crumpler still out there ? Any other TE s out there for a short term deal ? I'm sure the Oz has finger on the pulse .
FlaccoForever
Actually this could be a good thing. Joe gets more reps to workk with Ed and get into a solid groove there. I agree, Dickson has been having a really good camp far as catching the ball and of course displaying his main strengths (his speed). Joe had another great practice again today, he has to make the talent around him better. Elite QBs make lesser known players into good players or stars. Eli Manning made Kevin Boss and Jake Ballard look pretty good, Joe has to do that with the guys around him.
dapetes
Dickson can catch anything but a football. He should be in the 40 yard dash at the olympics. I'll give him 8 games to change my opinion but as for now. Hurry back Dennis you are the #1 tight end on this team. IMHO
papasmurfbell
He did catch 56 balls last yr.

yagersports
This was a nice catch week 1 against the Hair: I hope we see more of this. This guy's potential is through the roof. I can't count how many drive killing drops he had. This guy is open all the time.
papasmurfbell
OK so one big drop. dapetes said he can't catch but he got 56 balls. This will be his 3rd yr. He has Joe all to himself for several weeks. He also gets a whole off season with Joe too. He should be better.

papasmurfbell
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/08/01/ravens-sign-billy-bajema/Enter Billy Bajema. The Ravens announced Wednesday that they have signed the veteran tight end as a free agent to help fill the void left by Pitta.
yagersports
He is tall, maybe he gets his stuff together and turns into another Eric Green type.. Eric Green, how old are you Crav? JK. This is why I really like this team. We have contingency options. They're viable. We're deep. We're not perfect, but we're a deep team. yagersports
Hey yeags im so ready for some football we are talking driving up to jax and trolling their sidelines You know I'm surprised that I never thought of that when I lived down there. Jax was still in our division for part of my time down there. I used to live in the panhandle, Fort Walton Beach on Eglin AFB. Had a great time down there. I was only 6 or so hours from Jax, why didn't I get over there???? lol
cravnravn
This is pretty cool 2hr to jax. 2 hr to tampa. My cousin is a big bucs fan who frequents a Stealer bar
