He's the only guy making plays.

Now...you will see Jimmy Smith and Cary Williams backs on the highlight reels.

Can someone please tell me what the hell Smith is doing?

506 yards of offense for Detroit.....506 yards!

What good is the no huddle/hurry up offense if the defense can't get off the field?

The 2 for 15 on 3rd downs really makes this Ravens offense scary. Punt! Put the D back on the field...for an hour.

With regards to Jimmy Smith, I think his back is still bothering him and that's why he has such difficulty turning around. He missed like a week of practice and then returned only to reinjure himself. I would be shocked if he played @ 100% yesterday.

While 506 yards of offense for Detroit sounds scary, they scored 0 points while the 1st string D was out there. Only once Ray, Ed, Webb, etc took the night off did Detroit get their first TD.

If Tyrod Taylor could actually complete a few passes the Ravens would have fared much better on offense. He had something like a 30% pass completion ratio. Painter, at least got offense moving again.

Iam really dissapointed with what I seen last night, dont know if you seen it but Ed Reed makes one tackle, gets up dangling his right shoulder, and I dont think we seen him the rest of the first quarter..

All three phases of the game are out of whack..As Max points out the O is not helping the D, they cant go no huddle with 3 and outs..Cary and Smith were absolutely destroyed by Stafford..Megatron had over 100 yards 2 minutes into the second quarter!!!

Thats 2 weeks in a row that are corners have been made part of a highlight reel, on the wrong end.

Tyrod Taylor looked pathetic yesterday..A running QB does nothing for me, because eventually we know the final result..His passes were rushed..

Dont get why Birk was in there, Gino needs the work with the first teamers.

I've given up on Taylor.

Last night was his opportunity to shine. His big chance. 8 for 22 with a whopping 3 ypp.

He hasn't learned how to be a Pro QB. He reverts to his college game.

Size does matter for him. He gets lost behing the big lineman and can't find a passing lane or his receivers....so he runs.

One nice deep ball every 10 passes won't cut it.

Painter looks decent because he knows this offense and plays against the 3's.

Granted he's playing with 3's so that makes it hard. If he could be accurate, then he'd be a solid backup QB.

But he's not accurate...at least consistently.

Give me the guy who knows the offense and can play the position. Let him and Caldwell work on mechanics.

It kind of looks like some bees got in his pants or his ass is on fire or something....

I'll say this....

Jimmy Smith needs to start showing something now. Currently he's on the road to being a disappointment. He has to become a shutdown corner...at least as good as Webb. Or the offense has to score 30+ points a game.

Courtney Upshaw has run out of tub time. He needs to make every practice and play his ass off...his team needs him. He's heading down the same road as Jimmy. He needs a "Sunday Go To Meeting" talk with Ray. He did show some good strength and push rushing the passer last night.

Channell Your Inner Ray Courtney!!!!

Cary Williams needs to watch film of himself from last year. He needs to play like that and get better as far as catching the ball. Otherwise last year will be his "One Year Wonder" season.

Then there are the ton of guys trying to win back up positions at corner and safety. They can't help this team with poor coverage and tackling abilities. Who with step out of this group and be "Ravens"?

This is how the Browns tackle. Not Ravens.

I think Jimmy and Cary just need to start playing the ball a bit more. Jimmy was so worried about Megatron that he didn't get his head round and Megatron just out muscled him for the ball. Jimmy was actually in decent position. It was the same situation for Cary against Atlanta. if he is able to track the ball then he easily breaks up the pass or better still, snags an INT.

Why make any adjustments like that in preseason? Put your guys out there, let em know what it's like to have to cover the best on your own. The games don't matter. It's the perfect barometer to gauge the talent level. And it gives the coach some cred when the coach wants to explain to the player that no they cannot indeed cover so and so by themselves. They do need to cover as a team etc.
