vmax Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 Are you sure Mike? So far, the best rookie from this year's Ravens draft class has been guard/tackle Kelechi Osemele, the second-round pick out of Iowa State. He may not be starting now, but he will be soon, possibly in the season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals. Yes, Osemele is that good. He has great size, foot speed and athleticism. For a young player, he has shown poise and experience in learning the game and picking up blitzes. Plus, he has those long arms, which allows him to keep defensive linemen away from his body. Osemele is so talented that he can play left tackle if needed. I'm assuming the Ravens will start Bryant McKinnie at left tackle and Michael Oher on the right, but Osemele might start at left guard. He certainly has had a stronger preseason than either McKinnie or left guard Bobbie Williams. Regardless, the Ravens can't keep him out of the lineup. He is already one of their better linemen.http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/ravens-insider/bal-kelechi-osemele-already-one-of-ravens-best-linemen-20120828,0,4650346.story He might make us forget about Whatshisname????...Grubbs! papasmurfbell Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 I loved this guy comming out. He is better than I thought he would be at this point. Quote
FlaccoForever Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 Are you sure Mike? He might make us forget about Whatshisname????...Grubbs! I hope Osemele starts week 1 against the Bengals and helps deliver a "KO" to Gino Atkins and the rest of the Bengals DLine. Quote
yagersports Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 We're gonna stomp Cinci in all phases of the game. Gonna be pretty. I hope this guy is all he is advertised cuz Im lovin what Im hearin. Quote
reddog271 Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 I think in 2 years he's our left tackle. Quote
cravnravn Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 I think in 2 years he's our left tackle. I could see that, and whats funny is on TV last week, it looks like his pads dont fit him, looked to me like a young JO.. Quote
Robjr83 Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Of course it's true. KO is as good as advertised. Oz has a knack for picking good Olinemen. Quote
yagersports Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 This guy may supplant Oher huh? That's a good dilemma to have. Two quality tackles on one roster. Oh my what to do lol. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 I don't think KO has the feet for LT. Quote
Robjr83 Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 KO will never surpass Oher in false start/holding penalties department. That honors all his. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Yeah Oher always tries to anticipate the count. But KO doesn't have the feat for it. There is a reason why he was projected as a RT or OG. He is powerful and has huge arms. Those are his assets. Quote
Robjr83 Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Yeah I see him replacing Grubby, not moving to the outside. He's got excellent size to dominate the inside line. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 I could see him at RT. He would be a monster to go off tackle with. Quote
oldno82 Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Yup Osemele makes up for the disappointing pre-season Upshaw has been having. Upshaw had a real chance to shine but came in overweight and quickly got a minor injury. He's due to play a lot Thursday night. He'd better bring his "A" game. Quote
cravnravn Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 KO will never surpass Oher in false start/holding penalties department. That honors all his. Oher's false starts are due to his quickness, even Harbs came out and said it, when they look at game films Oher is not false starting, he is just that split second faster than the rest on the line..H He is going to give these replacement refs fits, if hes that fast.
