vmax
Tomlin's lost his team.... ...All of this mess started Sunday when an anonymous player ripped LaMarr Woodley in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette for being out of shape. Safety Ryan Clark compounded this by telling the NFL Network that this Woodley-bashing comment shows a "fracture" within in the Steelers locker room. Wide receiver Antonio Brown then told ESPN that Steelers locker room was divided last season, pointing out there were players who were more focused on individual goals than the team's record, which ended up a mediocre 8-8...."It’s just sad," Brown said Wednesday on ESPN's First Take. "Our team was a team last year where guys wasn’t really together. As we know in the NFL, you got to have a band of brothers. Everyone got to be together and it got to filter down from the leadership. And for guys to throw a guy like LaMarr Woodley, a Pro Bowl player, under the bus just shows you the men we had in our locker room. And it’s something that we want to get corrected for 2013.” ...The logical candidate to take a leadership role is quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. But there have been signs that Roethlisberger hasn't been the most popular player in the team's locker room. After his second sexual assault allegation in less than a year, he wasn't voted to be a captain by his teammates in 2010.http://espn.go.com/blog/afcnorth/post/_/id/65753/can-steelers-fix-fractured-locker-room They see right through Ben's shit. vmax
Tomlin inherited a Super Bowl caliber roster from Cower. That's why he won. He's no genious leader. He just spouts out military like phrases and everybody goes "Oh wow." "When you lose so much leadership in the locker room, that's when things present itself like that," Ward said. "Guys start finger-pointing, calling out other guys. That is not the Steeler way. We've always had a rule: We are a band of brothers. We've always collectively kept everything in house. ... But there was no finger-pointing and calling each other out. That's a total disarray, a locker room in disarray."http://espn.go.com/blog/afcnorth/post/_/id/65845/hines-ward-steelers-are-in-total-disarray papa....you need to retire that chair here....put Tomlins name on it....maybe start a thread on this board and we'll hold a ceremony. papasmurfbell
Tomlin isn't going anywhere. The Rooney's never fire coaches. Tomlin is a very good coach. He was in the SB how many yrs after Cowher left. They are rebuilding.
cravnravn
The plot thickens http://espn.go.com/blog/afcnorth/post/_/id/65845/hines-ward-steelers-are-in-total-disarray "When you lose so much leadership in the locker room, that's when things present itself like that," Ward said. OutsideRzAcE
The best quote is the one by Antonio Brown where implies the Steelers need to be more like the Ravens "Winning is not talent," Brown said. "It’s all about being on the same page, and each guy having the guy next to him’s back, and being committed to winning. You see a Ravens team that was committed to winning and togetherness, and that’s what it’s all about.”
OutsideRzAcE
Tomlin is a good motivator...perhaps not so good with X's and O's. He did take his team to two Superbowl in a span of 4 years, no small feat. Tomlin's problem is he's in a division with the Ravens
papasmurfbell
They will have new leaders. They are in a rebuilding mode and vets are not used to it.
steelersfan
this season is going to be a big test for Tomlin, no doubt. The Steelers GM, Colbert, has stated that neither he nor Tomlin saw any "fracture" in the locker-room. Whether that's to be believed or not is a good question. We're going to get rid of Wallace and Mendenhall, two players who are suspected of creating the fracture off the field. True, we're also going to lose some veteran leadership, unfortunately a healthy Harrison will be gone due to cap space. I am excited to see how Tomlin handles this team this season. Steelers fans are questioning his coaching abilities but I for one respect what he does.
papasmurfbell
There is some fracture. Ben does not like his OC. Rooney pooch screwed that move. They will cycle out the guys who like the old style and get new young ones that play the ground and pound offense style.
OutsideRzAcE
It's funny to me that the Steelers are having locker room problems. They shouldn't be hard up for leaders - they have type A personality guys but they are immature. Roethlisberger - I think that GA situation has taken care of his recklessness off the field. He always says the right things as far as taking blame for losses, giving teammates credit during wins, but he does dumb stuff like play up his injuries to get more attention instead of letting his play do the talking. Ryan Clark is petty and arrogant and picks fights with the local media and the commish. That comment about not pissing on the commish if he was on fire give a new meaning to the word inappropriate . I wonder if some of our more outspoken guys like Suggs and Rice would be the same way if it wasn't for the locker room leadership of Ray and Ed

thesteelhurtin
Wallace and mendy being gone will fix a lot of the problems in the locker room. Also I think it was our lber coach that called out Woodley and it needed to be done. I like Woodley a lot bit he is lazy and somebody needs to light a fire under him. Hopefully worilds working out with Harrison will let Woodley know he is coming for him. Tomlin has been to two super bowls and inherited a team that had a horrible record the year before. There's a reason he was voted the coach most players in the NFL want to play for. Sometimes injuries kill a team AMD this year was like every time we got a starter back another went down.
