  1. Okay, I know, I know this is not the Seahawks forum. Yes, yes I know, we are only roughly half way through the season, they may still fall a part, miss the playoffs, be a one year wonder. But, with a solid defense, good running game, in today's NFL, is a top notch qb needed? I know, a few days ago I said the days of a care taker qb are over, but seeing the putrid play from around the league, maybe I am wwwrong. Smith is proving, right now anyway, that Seatle was correct to trade Wilson, go with a cheaper qb. So it got me thinking, football is not basketball nor baseball, where injuries ending careers are few & far between. There is no place in the NFL, a sport of violence, for guaranteed contracts, certainly not for exhorbanate money. We got a good look at Huntley last season, the team lost most of those games. But then, the defense was horrible, riddled with injuries at every position. The backfield and offensive line was as well. So, I know papa like the idea of playing roulette with the qb position, but with a healthy defense, offense, do you think Huntely could take this team far? Would it be wiser to tag & trade Lamar, get the max picks, and boost the wide receivers, fortify the defense, so that Huntley could have the best chance to succeed? He does, is more accurate down field passing than Lamar currently is....
  2. The bye week could not come at a better time. It gives injured players time to heal & return. It gives those missing time due to injuries time to come back at full strength. If they truly take this one game at a time, 14-3 is not only possible but likely. We know Bowser is a keeper who will help this defense, both the pass rush & in coverage. The one we have no idea about is Ojaba, can he really rush the passer? Can he hold an edge? The two added to the rotation mean that there will be fresher legs in the 4th quarter when this defense really needs them. Add to that Williams likely to come back, how long can a dislocated wrist keep a defender out? In my day, a dislocation meant set it, wrap it, get back at it..... Man oh man with Smith in the fold, watch out for this defense at full strength. Peters will be fully healthy, Hump as well as they both have been playing injured or unsure because of injury. Now can Roman keep implementing those passing schemes? With Stanley about to be at full, full game strength, this line should be solid as a brick wall re-enforced with steel!
  3. Might get Williams back after the bye week, this team might be shaping up. The play league wide it terrible, proof that two teams that rushed for over 200 yards still lost... Seize the league!
  4. Of note, since the Ravens are tight against the cap, (roughly $3 mil under) And the why
  5. Smith has the 2nd most tackles (not 15 yards down field) since entering the league. He is 1 of 2 players with 15+ sacks and 5 picks over the past 5 seasons. Now, can they reach a new deal with him?
  6. Yippie! We talked about this earlier this year, great move! CBS Sports: Roquan Smith trade grades for Ravens, Bears: Baltimore acquires two-time All-Pro linebacker. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/roquan-smith-trade-grades-for-ravens-bears-baltimore-acquires-two-time-all-pro-linebacker/
  7. O line used to be their strength, but yeah, no matter who is qb, it is bad
  8. Terrible Sunday lineup today to end October, Steelers vs Eagles or Bears vs Cowboys.... Man are the Steelers bad...
  9. Before the last few games, you know I and grub would say no way. But he seems to have really turned the corner on offense. At the right price, sure, bring him back. Yes you can Draft a quick, fast back in the later rounds, but his special teams play has always been top notch, will a drafted rookie be able to do the same?
  10. Yeah I don't know, he clearly seems annoyed, even when they have success. I notice he doesn't seem as fast, quick as he was last year, is that; injury to the hip? Him not going full speed to avoid injury? Is he holding back? You would have to think that he is tired of hearing about his contract, media constantly asking, talking about it. Fans constantly making remarks about it, that would weigh on anyone. Maybe this mini break will help him "get away", heal physically and emotionally, followed by the bye week help him to regroup. 6 games against subpar teams, this team could be 11-3, primed for post season play....
  11. Reviewing the game, I have to admit I was wwwwrong about Nogain, who shall now be referred to by me by his real name, Justice, not Justin, Hill, he has earned his name back. Starting with his special team play, forcing a blocker into the returner to create a fumble, awesome. Then his blocking again when brought into the offense, special. He is running at full speed when handed the ball, with quickness and power. Folks, with Gus wearing defenses down, a fast/quick, powerful runner makes hay against a worn out defense. Teams are also ignoring him in the flat on many occasions, one of these times, maybe when needed most, Lamar will look over there and throw the speedster a pass. He really has finally showed confident running this year, fumble aside.
  12. The touchdown to Likely, Tampa was in zone, presnap read easy. The safeties because of the formation are split wide, all Lamar has to do to open the middle is look left quckly. If Lamar knows the routes, he should know the routes, he should know that Likely is on a skinny post and once Lamar moves the safety wide on the quick look, just zip the ball into Likely. This should have been the first read based on the defense. The underneath routes were not going to be open nor produce much even if they were because of the backers in the zone. But Lamar looks for his first read, Proche underneath, sees it covered, then has to avoid the rush and make a much more difficult throw to Likely, who made a great route correction when Lamar scrambled. In the end it was a touchdown, but these, presnap reads, are what may be holding this offense down, keeping Roman from calling certain plays. Last night they had no choice but to use those quick throws to Robinson, who did fabulous with run after catch with Boyle and Likely blocking for him.
  13. Many reasons is my guess. One is obviously what is Lamar comfortable with? How about his receivers? The offensive line & backs? We know that Lamar is limited in the types of throws he can make. He rarely throws anticipatory, or throws someone open. Even in this game, as brilliant as he was in the 2nd half, with quick throws to the wide receiver screens, stop routes along the sideline, he missed open receivers, and tightends in the redzone. Not just because he didn't see them, but because he didn't 1) see them in time and 2) didn't, couldn't make the throw. Take the first trip down, Lamar throws to Andrews but the defender knocks it away. Had Lamar thrown that a second sooner, before Andrews stops and turns, it's a touchdown, undefense-able. Abother instance, also in the first half, he has Duv open on an out route in the endzone, with a step & a half on his man, it was man coverage. This is a persnap read, also knowing the routes should have had Lamar looking and throwing that pass first, leading Duv into the corner, touchdown. Instead he sees it late and throws it away. We know that he struggles with deep passes, the touch, the arch. So maybe it has taken until now for him to be comfortable with the quick throws outside, now trusting, because he had to with the injuries, trust other receivers. When a defense cant clue in on one receiver/tightend, it makes everyone's job easier to get open. Again, this was against a bad team, with no defensive depth that wore down in the 2nd half of a short week game. Time will tell if they can do this again, they have the Saints, another bad team, one that can beat you if your don't prepare, to "practice against and hopefully move to 6-3... Then a bye week to get healthy. One game in the next what, 20 days?!
  14. Yeah, doesn't look like a locker room divided now does it Skip Whail-less
  15. I have to give him credit, Roman called a masterful second half, great set up plays, great sets, quick hits, audibles, just nice to see an NFL offense..
  16. I know it was against a team playing very badly, a team missing many defensive starters. But this, from USA Today, Speaks volumes. 1) They only had 4 possessions in the second half. Think about that for a moment. It means that they held the ball so long, it also kept the other offense off of the field, Limited their possessions. 2) aside from thr kneel down to end the game, the scored on each of the 4 possessions, 3 of them touchdowns. That builds confidence, muscle memory if you will. The players not only proved to the coaches, the fans, but to them selves that they can do it when tasked. It is something to build on, even or especially against the drubs of this league.
  17. 200 yards rushing in the 2nd half, 24 pts, plays the Ravens haven't run, players making plays, finally. They seemed to relax and just play: bout time. The defense was huge on 3rd downs, forcing Brady to rush his throws, making him see ghosts. Still, they gave up over 300 yards in the air and 14 pts in the 2nd half. Make the playoffs, then play complete games, because if this team does play complete games, no one can best them
  18. Wow, let me say again, WOW 13 MINUTES THEY HELD THE BALL! 24 PTS IN THE SECOND, THE SECOND HALF! Are you kidding me? Okay, so the defense gave up pts again in the 4th quarter, it came down to an onside kick recovery to win the game, again... So the offense played poorly, horribly in the first half just so that they could be brilliant in the 2nd half? Roman was terrible with play designs/calls in the first half, but is masterful in the 2nd half? You can't tempt fate like, it only works once. Like the Ravens, I am flip-flopping, sign Lamar What a half! 5-3! The injuries don't look serious, though a hammy can linger, poor Gus. Likely, now that is the type of play he showed in camp and pre season, good for him!
  19. Put Huntley in for the 2nd half, bet he puts touchdowns on the board
  20. I'm going to bed. This is pure garbage from the play selection, to execution... can't even run a screen play with out either losing 3 yards or running into your own man. Lamar can't even see a 300 LB man running right at him
  21. Should be an auto audible; when they have 7 in the box, run. When 8 or more pass. He looks so doggone confused out there, who doesn't know the pass thrown away has to go past the Los? Trade dead line is next week, trade him over the week end
  22. Run you freaking idiot, run... I'm with papa now, trade him
  23. Wow, really, Hill was wide open in thr flat, or better yet, run once you break the pocket, I'm not staying up for this crap....
  24. 9 in the box so why not try and run
  25. Boring, we don't need the age run down, AL Needs to retire
