  1. Man, I'm really hoping the offensive line and receivers turn it around next week. I am optimistic about the line given the talent, but the receivers scare me. I am very excited about our tight end group. I give Trestman credit for making adjustments on that last drive. Got Buck Allen involved, threw to the tight ends. No shots downfield. Receivers couldn't get open, line couldn't give Flacco enough time. I hope to see Perriman back soon, but I am worried this is a long term injury. He isn't even running.
  2. I'm a big fan of solar panels. I visited family in Long Island and everyone had solar panels. I think they look cool. I definitely want to get them some day. We just got Nest thermostats and smoke detectors installed at our house. Trying to save some energy with the thermostats.
  3. Another interesting situation from last night: http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/steelers/2015/09/11/pittsburgh-new-england-patriots-ben-roethlisberger/72050820/ Even though the headsets are controlled by the league, here's an interesting tweet: @AlbertBreer: One coach texted me last nite, said his team's headsets were "staticky and went out for a couple plays last year" at Gillette. "Only there."
  4. When the Steelers headsets malfunctioned the NFL shutoff the Pats headsets as well, so no advantage. Regardless, Steelers lost the game because of a terrible defensive strategy. How do you not guard the opposing team's best player? @richeisen: That headsets malfunctioned in a world-class NFL facility is ridiculous. But the defense-to-Gronk connection malfunctioned worse.
  5. The NYT article is among GOP voters, I believe, but it shows Trump might not have problems with Republican voter turnout like Romney had. The Washington Post article cites trends toward Trump in national polls among non-white voters, numbers are still overwhelming in favor of Hillary however. The USA Today article is an opinion piece I found interesting.
  6. Your reasons above are exactly why the DNC will do whatever it takes to give Hillary the nomination over Sanders. Hillary gives them a big advantage from a demographics standpoint, lots of unknowns with Bernie, at the moment. http://fivethirtyeight.com/datalab/bernie-sanders-could-win-iowa-and-new-hampshire-then-lose-everywhere-else/ I respect Sanders for not accepting lobbyist or Super PAC money, and for wanting to abolish private prisons, but that's about all I agree with him on. Also, while I agree with your comment on the GOP in general in regards to demographics (I'm assuming you're referencing this study: http://www.latinodecisions.com/blog/2015/07/17/the-latino-threshold-in-2016-to-win/), specifically with candidates like Cruz or Walker, Trump seems to be demonstrating a range of demographic and ideological support, despite the stupid comments he made: http://mobile.nytimes.com/2015/08/23/us/politics/why-donald-trump-wont-fold-polls-and-people-speak.html?referrer= http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2015/08/23/donald-trumps-immigration-comments-dont-seem-to-be-hurting-republicans-yet/ On the GOP Establishment side, much like the DNC will try and push Hilary, the RNC is going to do whatever it takes to make Jeb Bush as the candidate. Jeb speaks Spanish fluently, has a Mexican-American family, and remember, GW Bush polled with Hispanics over 40% and was fairly liberal with immigration. Interesting take on Trump and the Hispanic vote: http://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2015/07/26/donald-trump-hispanics-mexico-latinos-republican-voters/30697991/ Still very early in the election season so anything can happen. Fun stuff to follow though.
  7. I didn't realize the Steelers cut fourth round pick Doran Grant, CB out of OSU. For a team with as many holes in the secondary as the Steelers, that is saying something. Additionally Grant was not claimed by any other teams and is on the Steelers practice squad.
  8. I was wondering when the 2016 election discussion would come. I considered offering a different perspective to the predominant viewpoint in this topic, but I think I'll stay on the sidelines for now. I am enjoying the discussion, however. I think everyone here comes from a good and honest place. I do agree with Force's post though.
  9. I have serious worries about our receivers getting open against the Broncos secondary, and our secondary covering the Broncos elite receiving corp. However, I am not sold on Manning being able to hurt us downfield. I have a feeling we'll know right away whether or not we will win the game. We either have success running the ball and throwing play-action in tight-end heavy sets, or the Broncos score a couple of quick TDs and we are forced to play catch up with an unproven receiving corp.
  10. I feel like every scout and analyst said he was extremely raw and was going to take time. We had to know that. If so, bad pick on our part.
  11. The big surprise for me is seeing Robert Myers, a fifth round pick this year, cut. Reminds me of when we cut Derek Anderson as a sixth round pick.
  12. According to PFF, Will Hill is arguably the best safety in the NFL: I am willing to give Kendrick Lewis a chance at FS.
  13. I hope he passes waivers and makes our practice squad. With the injury histories of Marlon Brown and Campanero, as well as other injuries that will inevitably happen during the season, I am sure Dan Brown would get a chance later in the season. I love Dan Brown's aggressiveness attacking the ball. Big hands and outstanding natural body control.
  14. Exactly for your points is why the NFL should have taken Brady's offer of being suspended one or two games for a failure to cooperate. Even with the factors you named, the evidence was circumstantial at best. Then throw into the fact a flawed and nonpartial process, and the NFL had no chance.
  15. Goodell has a $150M buyout, he's not going anywhere. http://larrybrownsports.com/football/roger-goodell-buyout-cost-150-mill/272291
  16. Steal of a deal: @PFF: Top 5 Safeties by PFF Coverage Rating: 1. Will Hill 92 2. Tyrann Mathieu 92 3. Eric Weddle 91 4. Husain Abdullah 88 5. Kam Chancellor 87 @PFF: Top 5 Safeties by PFF Run Defense Rating: 1. Harrison Smith 93 2. Robert Blanton 91 3. Will Hill 89 4. Patrick Chung 88 5. Kam Chancellor 87 @PFF: PFF Ratings= How good a player is right now. How well he graded, on average, over the last 2 seasons. (More weight on recent games)
  17. Secondary depth, wide receivers
  18. Good, I'm glad the Steelers don't get off easy.
  19. Very true but it's not like our other young receivers tore it up in trash time this preseason. Brown also had a strong camp to back it up and the skill set that Trestman looks for in his receivers. But yes I agree, I will pan out.
  20. Cross your fingers he clears waivers. Selfishly I would have liked for us to release him closer to the deadline, but it's considerate to give him a chance to find something else.
  21. I hope we can stash Brown on our practice squad. I love the kid's game. His physical numbers are very good, a 4.15 short shuttle indicates he has the quickness necessary to run crisp routes. He has nearly 10" hands and excellent natural body control. At 6'5" 227 pounds, his 40 of 4.52-4.58 is not bad in combination with his quickness. The guy is a gamer.
  22. I'd imagine if he doesn't return to practice early this week there's no chance that he plays on Sunday. We certainly need the WR help. I like what I saw out of Daniel Brown. He shows aggressiveness and high points the ball, something our other receivers (other than Smith Sr.) don't do.
  23. What do you think of Beyer as an OLB prospect?
  24. Maybe a disappointment thus far, but still early to say a bust.
