  1. He's cheap and under contract. Who knows how much longer Smith has. Keep Brown and give him a shot when Smith retires or if he gets hurt. Good depth.
  2. The Saints have an interesting QB situation. They drafted Garrett Greyson in the third round and have Ryan Griffin and Luke McCown competing to be the backup. Griffin is a solid QB prospect, but he was an undrafted rookie a couple of years ago and the Saints might want to go with the vet. I would be all for signing Griffin if he's let go, but I'm biased.
  3. Secondary concerns me as well. Jimmy Smith said he isn't 100%. Melvin and Walker have good physical tools but are still inexperienced and learning. I'm not sure if Webb will ever get back to what he was when we gave him a long-term deal. Real shame because Webb was an absolute beast. I like Arrington's game a lot. However, if the other guys can't perform we'll be forced to play Arrington out of position. He's best in the slot. I think we'll be good at safety, but CB depth definitely worries me. I am extremely excited to see Gilmore this season. The guy is built like a mountain and has surprising athleticism. I loved his aggressiveness and trash talking this week! I think we might have a real player with Gilmore.
  4. I am worried about the receivers. I don't see any aggressiveness from Brown, Aiken or Butler. Flacco has thrown some catchable balls downfield that our guys haven't fought for.
  5. RSR is bringing attention to how serious Perriman's knee condition he had growing up can be in relation to durability and recovery. Spoiler, you don't really outgrow the knee condition: @RussellStReport: This was posted on our Facebook page in response to the article on Perriman: http://t.co/ClVkw31Gq2http://t.co/o7mJ9T5Gjl @rwags614: .@RussellStReport I also dealt with it growing up and it has led to myriad knee problems as an adult inc two non-contact ligament injuries. 6. Schoop's HR was 484.5 ft! http://mlb.mlb.com/r/video?content_id=417382983
  7. For pitching I am not saying use the AAA model. I am saying Duquette found Chen and Gonzo once before, I want to see him buy low on guys with good potential that can be mid to back end starters. I do not want to pay Chen #2 starter money when he can't get past the sixth inning. For hitting, yes we have to be smart on our payroll. Pay Davis and we might not be able to pay Machado. Mancini is an interesting prospect at first, and Christian Walker isn't a bad backup option. Parra seems more in our price range. He likes it on Baltimore and gets along well with our guys. Most importantly he gets on base. I could see the Mets paying Davis big money. Our starting pitching only goes as far as Gausman, Bundy and Harvey take us. Gausman has a lot of skill, but he needs to do a better job of pitching in the first inning and getting guys out on 0-2 counts. Those two situations this year have killed him. I like his gutsiness though. Bundy and Harvey, who knows with their injuries.
  8. So I actually retract my statement from earlier: Davis, Wieters, Chen... Take the draft picks and let them go. We can't win with these guys, so what's the point in re-signing them well into their mid-30s? If we had a solid starting pitching corps where we could make a legitimate run, I would say do what it takes. We do not have the pitching. Save the money for Machado and Schoop. Sign Parra with the money we offered to Markakis last offseason. Machado will be our three hitter next season, no doubt. Top prospect Trey Mancini will be our first baseman. Joseph has proven he can hit and defend just as well as Wieters, and Clevanger is no slouch. Find another on base guy who can hit near the top of the lineup with Parra. Then focus on pitching pitching pitching. Sure, Duquette's acquisitions didn't work this season. Let's see what he can do this offseason knowing we will have lots of holes to fill. Until we get legitimate starting pitching, it won't matter who plays offense.
  9. @AlbertBreer: Number of coaches have told me they get more out of joint practices than preseason games. And it feels like there are less injuries. So ... @AlbertBreer: Of course, it's not up to coaches (or players or anyone on the football side) to replace preseason games with joint practices. And ... $$$$. @AlbertBreer: Aaron Rodgers' comments were pointed about preseason -- called games "meaningless". Steelers guys I talked to said he was dejected postgame. @AlbertBreer: Rodgers may soften his comments, but he has a point. NFL is only level of football with anywhere near this amount of game action preseason. I wonder at what point coaches don't even play starters in the preseason? They are truly meaningless.
  10. I just hope we can get through the preseason without any major injuries. I think players were playing not to get hurt last night. When that happens, you usually get hurt.
  11. Edit: if we can re-sign Davis and Parra I think we will be able to compete again next season. However, losing Davis is going to hurt A LOT.
  12. Hate to say it, but do you blow it up after this season? We can't simply go out and buy starting pitching. Our whole contention model was based on "growing the arms buying the bats". We assembled a top lineup, however, we failed to grow the arms. Now we are losing Davis, Wieters and Chen, with ZERO pitching help on the immediate horizon. Maybe we need to rebuild like the Astros, Cubs and Mets and try again.
  13. I've lost hope for this season. Expectations are shot. Can't keep winning one and losing two. Ravens season can't come soon enough.
  14. Haha very true!
  15. Even if Perriman never lives up to his potential, I would much rather take a risk on a guy with his physical tools and talents than a "safe" WR like Mark Clayton. We've tried the safe approach many times at WR and it hasn't worked out. We needed to take this sort of risk on an elite talent.
  16. Who knows. Hensley mentioned Perriman has a sprained PCL. Apparently he's still in a brace, but at least he isn't limping.
  17. Article in Philly newspaper on Flacco: Waller is making a very strong case to not only make the team, but contribute this year: http://m.baltimoreravens.com/mediaItem.html?media-id=946715&media-type=N
  18. Good strategy, let the other team score all its runs for the series in one game!
  19. He had an MRI originally after the injury. The reason he got the second MRI was because the injury was healing so slow. They didn't know if the first one was wrong or if he had a setback. I guess he's just a slow healer.
  20. @JasonColeBR: To reiterate, #Ravens sent first round pick Breshad Perriman for an MRI yesterday on his nagging knee injury. @JasonColeBR: Source said MRI results for #Ravens WR Breshad Perriman were "normal." Just healing slow. Should be back in a week or so.
  21. Haha yes! I feel this topic is now complete.
  22. Have to keep it rolling. We have a very difficult Mets pitching staff next.
  23. Has anyone made a MIKE Flynn joke in this topic yet? I saw the title and thought of everyone's favorite Ravens center.
  24. I'm not sure if it's related, but Perriman had knee problems growing up: http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/ucf-knights/os-ucf-breshad-perriman-nfl-draft-0430-20150429-story.html
  25. I listen to O's games on the radio. For this series, former O's phenom Ben McDonald is on commentary. He has a thick Louisiana accent, I love it haha.
