  1. My biggest response to that conference is that anyone who ever claimed Turg didn't have his guys backs was wrong. He might be a hard ass and willing to be blunt about lack of performance, but he works hard with those willing to work hard.
  2. I think we get one more year from Melo. Not enough talk yet about his draft position for me to believe he leaves. Could be wrong.
  3. http://m.baltimoreravens.com/mediaItem.html?media-id=914175&media-type Proposed by the competition committee to stop it from "getting it of hand." The new rule would require an eligible receiver who reports as ineligible to stay inside the tackle box when lining up. Seems like a fair compromise. Doesn't change the way the normal rule is used for punts, etc, but also maintains the spirit of the rule as originally intended.
  4. I didn't, but I did it the day the bracket was released. Just a crap shoot from me
  5. I just re-joined the group from last year on ESPN - it said it was still up. I don't think there's a password? Side note - NYTimes created a cool "risk takers" version of bracketing. Like other betting, it tracks which picks are popular in each round and gives you more points for an unpopular pick - if you get it right of course. I am not 100% sure how they really work their %ages and points, but in a close 8-9 matchup, either one is worth about 2 points. In a 16-1, the 16 is worth 11 points vs the 1 being worth 1 point. Points for all picks magnify in later rounds, so UMD over Kentucky in the Sweet 16 is worth like 70 points
  6. I think it's a context question. Doesn't bother me in the slightest even if it's not, but there are many ways those comments could be made in a not as attacking nature...
  7. Don't disagree. It's a cover of a really, really cheesy techno-y pop song from the late 90s (I think). I mean REALLY cheesy. I didn't even recognize it when I first heard it. I was also just more impressed - when you compare to "Long Hot Summer Day" and their other worl, when this song first came on the radio I didn't even think it was technically acoustic - let alone Nickel Creek.
  8. Playing for Change is also amazing!
  9. Nickel Creek is great. They were child prodigies and hit it big in the early 2000s. Their comeback last year was phenomenal. Their version of Hayloft sounds like a techno sing off shirts, but all just their instruments and voices.
  10. There always are. Mostly they're not they type worth one upping.
  11. Belated, but happy birthday!!! And happy marriage six years later according to Facebook ;)
  12. Two thoughts: First, while I agree with the sentiment... This article is a bit premature as with all in its style. We can hardly know the real value of these contacts until at least this season is played. But I still agree that my prediction is both will be busts. Second, was the I told you so nature so necessary? You're largely speaking to people who agree. Just post that someone wrote this or ranked it and trust us to understand that it's in line with your views?

Saw the appeal made it through, which is cool - though of course, its only on the grounds that his lawyer didn't offer him a plea option / pursue it from the state. At least it keeps things moving. The podcast didn't go into a lot of depth on the physical evidence at all - but they admitted that because so little of it existed and it wasn't really used at all at trial. So, I think they just didn't dig there - if things weren't tested, what could they do except report things weren't tested?

Added note - the prior post on that blog details the prosecution's seemingly intentional attempts to not share evidence with teh defense. Literally, up until the days before the second (second!) trial, they were holding on to evidence and police reports, such as transcripts of Adnan and Jenn's police interviews, etc.

http://viewfromll2.com/2015/02/12/serial-the-burial-in-leakin-park-did-not-take-place-at-700-p-m/#more-4944 Another post from the separate lawyer starting to investigate. Some of it gets very loose, I feel, but the beginning is what I find interesting: according to the autopsy (and some modern testimony looking at the autopsy), Hae's body had to be on its stomach/front down for an extended period before burial - probably at least 8 hours if not more. But the body was buried on its side and most of the story relies on her body being in her car trunk, which you would assume would mean on its side also. The big point here - if Hae died between 2 and 4pm, it's not nearly enough time for her to have been buried at 7pm for the autopsy to make sense. If she was buried post-midnight, though, it would make more sense (this is what Jay says happens in most recent interviews). The ultimate point here, is that the 7pm phone calls near Leakin Park - that the prosecution say prove Adnan was there - suddenly REALLY don't fit the timeline. The post also has some info about how Jay and Jenn's stories clash in ways that could prove this discrepancy further. But some of the other details are stretched, I'd argue.
  16. Thought it was interesting - some guy has done a big thing on how since 2007, the Pats have had record-setting long fumble totals pretty consistently and absurdly low fumble-to-plays run ratios. Like miles beyond anyone else. He pointed out that prior to 2007, the home team would provide the balls for the game for both teams. But in 2006-07, Brady (and others) lobbied for a change that allowed the road team to supply their own balls to be inspected. Meaning? Not much, but obviously seems fishy. Further supporting some of this was that if you go back pre-06, Brady and the Pats had incredibly low fumble rates, but only at home (aka - where they were supplying balls?)
  17. 90 second is new info. Would be hard to exchange bags though because they mark the calls that are approved... But maybe possible.
  18. Jay Glazer says the NFL has video of a ball attendant taking the calls from officials to another location before taking them to the field... Dun dun dun
  19. I posted something I decided wasn't what I wanted to say. I posted the explanation in case anyone had seen it and wanted to know where it went.

I couldn't remember where Don worked aside from Hunt Valley, just that it was a mall. I read two interesting questions about this recently. First, Adnan has at times admitted that he asked Has for a ride that day. Though I think he now denies it. But the question is, where was he going to meet Hae to get that ride and when? It would answer some questions perhaps about both their routes. Second, more interesting, where's all the forensic evidence in Hae's car? Apparently it was super clean both physically and forensic wise. If someone drove her car from the park after the burial, where's all the mud and dirt? And apparently her trunk was full of personal belongings. When they argue her body was in that trunk, was it on top of that stuff? Shouldn't there be evidence of that? Did Adnan or Jay every go back to the car after that night? I read somewhere that Jay admits having visited the car just days before the cops find him and interview him. Why would he do that?

I do give Jay a lot of that benefit. I'm not expecting him to be perfect, but there is just too much wrong. I really disagree that the stuff that changed was little stuff (the only pieces that remain in place are that he saw the body and buried it). I think when we couple the changes in his story with the hints that seemed to be coming from the cops, I have trouble believing much of anything in the timeline. The visit to Patapsco? Best Buy or Westview or Cathy's House to first see the body? The body was buried now (today) he says after midnight? I definitely think Hae "disappeared" (and maybe was killed) by 3 or 3:30. I think I more question whether she was buried according to their timeline. She could have been killed and in her trunk for a long time and whoever killed her could have come back whenever. I'm not arguing days, but hours. Maybe she wasn't buried when those phone calls ping near Leakin; maybe Jay went back very late at night as he now says. That's more what I am questioning. Speaking of weird things - how about the note to Don in Hae's car? Maybe it was written late (early) that morning when she had to go home or maybe they saw each other before school? But, "Sorry I couldn't stay... I have a wrestling match to go to sure sounds like it was written that afternoon? So, where was she planning to see/meet Don and where was the note going to go? The one theory I heard - totally speculative - but maybe she was going to see Don at work at a mall, could be Best Buy or WestView (though didn't realize he was in Hunt Valley that day). At Best Buy, she runs into Adnan's car - while looking for Don's - but instead runs into Jay... and something goes from there? It's all just crazy.
  23. I agree with crav and papa. I think Justin served us very well and I don't mean to imply that just any guy could do what he did. But I have faith in our front office to find talent that suits our need. I think Kubiaks record of turning no makes into pro bowl backs further supports the system/scouting over player idea. Remember all those guys in Denver in the early 2000s who just walked into 1000 yards out of no where?

I am suspicious about not remembering much only because even if the cops didn't call, is the day a friend disappeared. But at the same time, he had little reason to remember the day six weeks later when first really asked about it. There are lots of non normal days in my schedule - snow day, no work, heat broke, etc - but as month later I couldn't tell you the details of any of them. I also think you're making an assumption about what's normal or not. He said he left for a free period normally, that going to the library before track was normal, track itself was normal, and the mosque would have been fairly normal during Ramadan. So lots of movement, but nothing strange for him except going to Cathy's... Definitely didn't help him. But I am awful at what I did on a given day beyond a week or so.
  25. I'm saying that the best evidence against paying Justin is Justin. I'm saying Justin proves that we don't need to know the guys name to know he exists. That's not saying we will find him.
