  1. I don't think he wants to be on the same team as Terrence Cody. Maybe the position change since then has softened his stance.
  2. I hope so, should make for lots of interesting drama. Roger Goodell ftw!
  3. I am not too worried yet. The backups who left I don't think matter in the grand scheme of things. JJ to me was approaching the end anyway and there are players behind him waiting for their chance. While there is always a chance the new starter will suck, eventually you have to give the younger players an opportunity. Not too worried. Grubbs is going to need some sort of replacement. I liked what I saw from Justin Boren in the preseason, but there is still FA and the draft to find a replacement. Didn't Arthur Jones get a start ahed of Corey Redding towards the end of the season? I seem to remember that to be the case. If so, Redding leaving and Jones taking over would seem like the natural progression. McClain, I am sorry, but I just see an OLB playing out of position at ILB. With JJ leaving I would prefer to see him move to OLB and someone else take his position at ILB, but if the team is comfortable with their current depth at OLB I could see them letting him leave. All in all, while it sucks to see drafted players leave, I am not worried. Yet.
  4. Yeah, but the only two with UDFA grades do not impress. Not that I have paid any attention to any one of these players until this thread....
  5. This is one position I can really see them use a draft pick on, but it would have to be someone who is a great blocker, not one who is described as merely good or has potential to become a blocking TE. Michael Williams or DC Jefferson perhaps.
  6. I don't think they were very interested in resigning him. Compensatory pick incoming. Although at 3m/year that's maybe a ... 6th/7th?
  7. I think I remember, very vaguely btw, that Cam Cameron said after Jason Brown left that he preferred to play G to C. Not that I have followed him closely in St Louis (or at all), but from what I remember about him I would consider signing him. Not to anything close to that stupid contract the Rams gave him, but something more reasonable.
  8. In a zone blocking scheme? I am not sure there is such a thing as a stud OG in a zone blocking scheme. Isn't the entire point of zone blocking to de-emphasize physical traits like size of o-linemen?
  9. The only position on the O-line I want in the first round is OT. For every other position, there are later rounds to find suitable players.
  10. The LT dark horse is Ramon Harewood. That first year injury was a stash move. That second year injury was real. I am hoping he can stay healthy this year.
  11. Sucks for Torrey. But this leads me to ask the question, why is it that this team never seems to be able to have/plug in capable backups on offense? On defense we see this a lot, but on offense it seem to be an insurmountable mountain to climb to have a regular starter rest a game or two because of injuries as the backups are incapable of anything but special teams play. Somewhere, someone on that teams has to be able to realize that you can not have an offensive philosophy that requires your starting 11 to be healthy for 19 or 20 games every season.....
  12. I have the impression that Harbaugh hates anything that might cause a distraction, in particular, fan interaction. I also believe that is why he canceled the coach call-in show. It is serving him well and will continue to do so for as long as he can take fans for granted regardless of how poorly he treats them. But NFL teams can not take fans for granted, just look at Cincinnati this year or Jacksonville the last several years. However, that will be a lesson Biscotti is going to have learn, not Harbaugh because I get the feeling he is set in his hatred of fan interaction.
  13. Considering the teams that played (and won the Super Bowl) I am inclined to think that the most important attribute for a RB in todays NFL is pass blocking. Just go all in ... 3 or 4 FBs on the roster (who can catch), spend the cap savings on receivers and the OL.
  14. Me neither, haven't they tried these kinds of receivers before without success? With Cam staying, what they need are 6-5 receivers who are open due to their sheer size...
  15. When talking about trading picks with regards to NE, one must also factor in that they trade picks for higher picks in the future. Ozzie has done it, Jamal Lewis for example, he just doesn't do it enough. Yes, the first year you do it, it does hurt you, but every year afterwards (if you continue the practice) you keep picking a round or more higher than you would have otherwise. To me, the long term benefit seems clear. Not that it easy to do, mind you, but I would love for the Ravens to start anually trading picks for higher picks in future years.

    2012 OG

I think Yanda is the prototypical OG they are looking for. With that said, Brandon Washington looks to fit that mold. Gotta go check him out.
  17. One thing I think NE does better than almost any other team is trading, whether it is picks for picks in the future or non-core players for picks. I really wish Ozzie would start copying that.
  18. Best pass blocking LT please. Don't really care about the run blocking.
  19. Andre Gurode was cut by Dallas after he declined to rework his contract. McKinnie was cut after showing up out of shape. Neither will count when awarding compensatory draft picks.
  20. Baltimore - Lost: McClain (1 yr $1.5 million), Chester (4 yr $16 million), Wilson (3 yr $13.5 million), Landry (5 yr $27.5 million) Signed: Leach (3 yr $11 million), Williams (2 yr $2.6 million), Pollard (2 yr $2.75 million)
  21. So let me get this straight, the two people the Ravens now have in charge of the offense (if we consider Caldwell to be second to Cameron) were 1 - 15 and 2 - 14 respectively in their respective final season when in overall charge before coming to Baltimore. That's a combined record of 3 - 29! Does this inspire anyone to believe they can make good decisions? I really hope this works out, but I am skeptical. One other thing, as far as I can tell there is no history between Harbaugh and Caldwell which seems very odd for Harbaugh since he really likes to hire assistans with whom he has worked before (or been coached by). However, I do remember Caldwell interviewing for the HC job John eventually got. Is this a sign that the front office is starting to influence coaching hires rather than leaving it up to the HC which as far as I know has been the norm previously?
  22. I think Harbaugh is a good HC. One thing I think he does extremely well is getting rid of disruptive influences whether it be players, coaches or fans... However, he also strikes me as someone who will always be limited by his OC and DC. So far, to me, he has gotten this wrong more often than he has gotten it right. Cameron and Mattison are/were terrible fits. Pagano was a good fit. Peas is yet to be determined.
  23. Seems reasonable, but I just don't want another OG in the first round. For the amount of high draft picks invested in the O-line in recent years, the return seems mediocre at best. How many 1st, 2nd or 3rd rounders have the Patriots and Giants invested in their starting O-lines? Anyone know? Depending on Kindle's status and JJ leaving, I could see OLB as well. In the 7th, I would just take a chance on some speedster as a return guy or take a chance on a player who has suffered a severe injury. Either that or trade the pick for a 6th+ next year. 7th rounders generally speaking have not done well for the Ravens in recent years. Also, compensatory draft pick projections have the Ravens gaining a 4th round pick.

    Dean Peas

So why did he leave New England in 2009 to come to Baltimore to be the LB coach? That seems like quite the demotion and not one I can see someone make voluntarily.
