  1. Glad to hear that. I was worried he'd turn into a passing maniac with Joe and neglect the play action that Joe is so good with. Also heard he runs the offense mostly from the shotgun and we've been down that road too without a lot of success. So am quite happy that he's going to run the 'Ravens' offense. Hope it works out that way. Edit: sounds like it just might work out: http://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/article-1/Ravens-Offense-Not-Changing-Under-Marc-Trestman/19f242c0-5c46-4b0b-90b0-247f3a4b2fce
  2. Totally agree. RB's are plentiful via the draft. Maybe even through undrafted free agency too,
  3. One of the first things Trestman ought to do is start poring over the tapes of Joe from 2013 and 2014 and see what works best for him. Kubiak did a similar thing when he got hired. He ought to check out the zone blocking scheme we used to before he decides to just use what he's used to.
  4. Well, if Cleveland hires him it's a win-win for us. Sounds, then, like Oz and Harbs are on board with the Trestman hire. I read he hasn't used a zone-blocking scheme though. Our lineman did very well with that this year. Maybe he'll adapt?
  5. I'm not as optimistic about Cavanaugh. He was a terrible OC when he was here and most of us couldn't wait to get rid of him. Ravens' offenses sucked when he was here. But, maybe Trestman won't bring him. Oz might have a say in that too.
  6. Right now I'm really lukewarm about this selection. I don't really know much about the guy other than he's a west-coast offense coach, so that's a plus. He's supposed to be good for coaching qb's too. But he'd better not bring Cavanaugh here (I can't believe this is even a possibility especially with his history with Joe and his blunder of not playing him!). I am concerned about what he does with the zone-blocking scheme because that was so effective for us with a journeyman running back. Maybe we'll know more when he's officially introduced. I hope he and Flacco get along as well as Kubiak and Flacco did. That part has me worried.
  7. Hard to believe that MC is still around and working. Hoping we get a different guy for coaching qb's.
  8. Speaking of the cap, does the league give the 2015 limit before free agency starts?
  9. If it's true it's sickening and they'd have to do something to make them think twice next time. Like losing a first round pick for 2 years plus a hefty fine. There appears to be a culture of cheating in NE that needs to be eradicated.
  10. Only if they met Oz's criteria of best player available. Good idea though. Might take $8 million a year to sign Cobb. One way or another they need to reduce Ngata's and Webb's cap hit for next year to free up money.
  11. Mike Shanahan is a good choice. I'd like to see him here. Shanahan would be staying here for a while too. Jim Zorn is available. Greg Knapp is a possibility. But Zorn is a former pro qb and that plus his previous work with Joe has to be a plus. He's also 62 so he'd be staying here for a while maybe for good.. He turned Matt Hasselback into a Pro Bowl qb. But, I'm not sure if Harbs dislikes Zorn for some reason. He did fire the guy after one season with Joe (who liked working with him).
  12. Was Knapp the QB coach that turned Schaub upside down?
  13. This really sucks that all the best fits for us are going. All that's left with one exception is guys that have been rejected everywhere else like Gase. If I were king, I'd go after Mike Shanahan.
  14. Here's Eisenberg's take. Pretty much sums up how I look at it: http://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/article-1/Eisenberg-6-Thoughts-On-Gary-Kubiak-Decision/7817ca0d-a3a6-46b5-b384-f54d127282a8
  15. The last one I watched was several years ago and it was totally obvious that no one was really trying so I gave up on it.
  16. I think they'd be better served with Dennison or Shanahan. Somebody who knows how to run our offense. And I don't think he's coming here. Just had a thought: what about Juan Castillo if both Dennison and Shanahan are gone?
  17. Pretty crappy outcome. Why couldn't Pees have gone? Answer: nobody wants him and he ain't that good.
  18. The Pro Bowl isn't worth a bucket of warm piss. I'd rather we'd not have accepted and now if Kubiak leaves with Dennison and Pariani and with Spags gone, who the hell is left to coach them???
  19. The thing is, Max, is that Dennison and Kubiak are a team. He uses the guy as a sounding board and confidante and he's been with him for years. Dennison is to Kubes as Kubes is to Elway. There's a remote chance that Kubiak is interviewing just to be fair to the Broncos, but I think the reality is that there's too much history and friendship there both with the Broncos and Denver for him not to take it.
  20. Totally agree. Torey needed to step up and make a play. I think any way we could have gotten a TD was justified. It was a slightly off throw by Joe and a weak-ass, half-hearted attempt by Torrey to make a play. Not to bitch on Torrey so much because I like the kid as a high-character, give back to the city kind of guy who can get open deep at least once or twice a game. Trouble is, his only other route is a slant over the middle and I don't think he's tough enough to consistently do that enough and not get hurt.
  21. It's imperative that we somehow retain the same offensive scheme. Joe flourishes in it and even an average, one-cut running back can pile up a 1000 yards in his zone-stretch offense. If Kubes goes, and I think he does (20 years of Denver history. Imagine the friends he has there plus he loves the team), I'm almost sure he will take Dennison and Pariani with him. That leaves only Shanahan the way I see it. So if Kubes is leaving I hope he lets us know real early.
