  1. Interesting stat from the Ravens' website: "Play-action passing suits Flacco well, as he showed last year, because he’s athletic and mobile enough to get outside the pocket and either run or throw. Flacco had a 90.7 quarterback rating when using play-action passing last year, compared to 70.3 with no play action."
  2. I thought this was a good article on it. I admit to being pretty ignorant about it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zone_blocking
  3. I Good analysis. I do see Crav's point but I think Kubs' record before this last season is more important than what just happened. Plus he's coming in as OC where he has always done well. IF the Ravens' offense can be improved, these guys can do it. We'll still need a much better than average draft. I hope Oz and Eric come through this year.
  4. I think this is a good move by the Ravens. And, I do have a feeling that Bisciotti was involved along with Newsome. Harbs was probably going through the motions just so he could get to his guy Hostetler and the FO stepped in. Good for them! I like the idea of Kubiak coming in...I just hope he can stay healthy. Didn't he have a medical problem this past season?
  5. Who gives a rat's ass about the Steelers???
  6. Now that you mention it I do remember that. But, it's a darned shame we had to account for that. Ngata is making quarterback money.
  7. He plays well when he's interested but he's not interested often enough. His cap number ($16 million) is way out of whack. Hard to believe they even considered that contract back when he was hungrier as it's for only a DT.
  8. Suggs used to but I think he's on the downside of his career. Ngata is just not consistent enough.
  9. The more I think about this, the more I think: 1) It should be Shanahan. 2) It will be Hostetler, who's at the bottom of my list.
  10. Monroe and Pitta are necessary. Daryl Smith if price is right for a one-year deal.
  11. Yup! That's the good news! What a hapless outfit they are.
  12. I agree. The O-line needs help. Maybe Osemele will play back to last year's standards---that would be a real help. But we still need a RT and C and if we don't sign Monroe, a LT. Add to this a WR, TE, and RB over the next two years at least. And, in 3 years we'll probably need a new QB. It's gonna be tough. We really have to draft very, very well like we did when the Ravens were just getting going here.
  13. I think one thing we can safely say is that Bisciotti has always paid top dollar when it's deserved.
  14. I hope so Max. I have this sinking feeling they're going to go with the worst possible candidate---Hosteler.
  15. The Ravens will be rebuilding for the next 2 years at least. And that's if they draft well.
  16. How true. In fact, I even wonder if Monroe is all that good. Solid? yes, Excellent? dunno. Worth keeping though for the right price.
  17. It used to be to provide objective in-depth analysis. Schmuck does a good job of that for the Orioles.
  18. That's what I fear. I think I'd rather have Kubiak (any day) or even Shanahan rather than a known failure. But for Harbs, that is the easy choice and that's what scares me.
  19. That's the point...wait so long so that you have to pick Hosteler???
  20. Now maybe AT LAST, we can retire this thread.
  21. Well stated.
  22. Bingo!
  23. Preston has a lot of talent but he picks favorites and it's too easy to wind up on his s**t list.
  24. What former Andy Reid coaches are out of work?? They probably have the inside track with Harbs.
  25. Well, hell, he'd fit right in!!
