I can't put any faith in Gradkowski because I haven't seen him do anything. He hasn't played so how we do we have any idea how good he is?

Yeah its sad but time marches on and its time for both of them to retire. I definitely would not re-sign Ed Reed. Ray Lewis still has 2 or 3 years left on his contract. Steve and Ozzie need to gently persuade him to retire and give him some role with the team post-retirement.

That is depressing. I guess Joe stays with the franchise tag but it sure tastes bitter to have to pay him the average of the top 5 NFL quarterbacks.

The offense needs a good LT because Oher hasn't played well there. We need a Center to replace Birk who will probably retire and I have no idea if Gradkowski is any good. We need a LG still to replace Grubbs. On D, we need an LB, and need to fill the other two positions on the DL (Ngata can't do it all). We need a new S to replace Ed Reed. Jimmy Smith hasn't shown me as yet he can play in this league so we might need another CB. Lots of holes. If Ozzie can fill them in 1 year we're retooling but if it takes 2-3 years we're rebuilding, I think the second scenario is much more likely

Varaven, we have had outstanding success for a long time. You're right about the OL and DL. Both need an infusion of talent at more than 2 positiions. And LB and S are also very needy. I think out CB situation will improve once we get Webb back. Hopefully, he comes back as good as before. Easy for me to say, I haven't torn the ACLs in both knees like he's experienced. He's also a good guy and a team leader. I can live with mediocrity for a few seasons as long as they play entertaining football.

We're going down the tubes this Sunday. I don't think we'll win another game unless Joe has a miracle turnaround and the defense finds some talent. In other words, it looks bleak. And, yes, next year just might be a rebuilding year.

With what on the offensive line?

I haven't heard much about Jah Reid this season though I know he's been playing and starting the last few games. Any opinions on this guy?

This is really a tough issue. I don't like franchising Joe on the one hand because you're paying him top 5 money and thats not what he has shown---so far---and I 'd only pay him around 12th on that QB scale. Now, Joe could make this easy in two ways: he could turn on fire and play lights out through 3 games and the playoff game and get the franchise tag or he can bottom out at his current level when it might make more sense to franchise him then trade him. I don't think we should sign him to a long term contract until he shows over the course of a whole season that he is indeed a better quarterback than what I have seen so far. I'm pulling for Joe but he has to show me more before I'd show him the money.

On offense its all on Joe now. He has to show he can be good consistently. He sure wasn't in the 2nd half on Sunday.
