Well he certainly has enough red flags. Maybe a 5th round pick though I bet Bisciotti will be against it. Modell would have given him a shot.
-
Except for Calloway, whom I don’t know, I’d be happy with that draft too.
-
Sutton, Andrews, Gesicki are all supposed to be later round 1 picks. I don't want to see them reach either at 16.
-
What do you guys think the possibility is of the Ravens trading down a few spots? Since most A1 talent will be gone at 16 and the draft depth is fairly deep this year.
-
Thought it would be good to start a new thread where we can combine all these. Here's one for Papa: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000918658/article/orlando-brown-struggling-through-nfl-combine-workout

PI should remain at spot of foul...otherwise it will just encourage more holding, grabbing, etc. on deep balls. Defensive holding---if you lessen the foul you'll just see even more penalties than they have today. They are supposedly working on the catch rule now---early indications are if you hit the ground and lose a caught ball it will still count as a completion. Not sure how I feel about that one.

This mock shows the Pats taking Lauletta. https://www.si.com/college-football/2018/02/20/nfl-draft-quarterbacks-sam-darnold-josh-rosen

Lauletta was the qb I was referring to in the Senior Bowl.

Well, papa, I think pretty strongly that Mayfield will be gone and even if he drops his 'character' concerns would make the Ravens reluctant to take him. Even more so since they think it's premature to draft a quarterback that high. I don't know all of the players you mentioned but I do like Sutton and Kirk. Tight ends I know Gesicki and Goedert are getting some love in the press. How about Williams as OT if he's available in the first? Or McGlinchey? I doubt they'd draft a center with the first pick. Acually Price might still be available in round 2. Regarding quarterbacks how about the guy from the Senior Bowl whose name I have forgotten but he played well in the second half? Or Kirk from from the same game?

What specific players in the draft do you propose?

Joe Flacco’s checkdowns and a flawed passing offense
oldno82 replied to papasmurfbell's topic in Baltimore Ravens
Ive never seen a metric on quickness, unfortunately. I guess the closest thing to it is yards after catch up thar includes mid_and longer distance completions. Tom Brady has made a career out of throws to quick receivers and backs. Think Amendola and Edelman. Belichick always finds a way to have receivers like them on his team. He has a scheme that takes advantage of that quality. -
Joe Flacco’s checkdowns and a flawed passing offense
oldno82 replied to papasmurfbell's topic in Baltimore Ravens
It's unfathomable. Other teams use checkdowns too but gain good yardage with them. i think the problem is more with us not having any quickness in our checkdown receivers. One other thing pisses me off is how many times do we have to see a receiver catch the ball in front of the first down marker???? -
They need playmakers badly. The team currently has only 2 receivers under contract and one is a bust. They need a backup qb because Joe isn't as durable as he was and we should be grooming of the future there. They need a center and a better RT. I don't think they can address all these problems successfully in one off-season. If they do, I'll call Ozzie a genius again. So, no. The status quo will not be effective.
-
I'm actually starting to become interested in us drafting Brown for RT. But they might even trade down a few spots since the talent drop off in the middle to late first round could be substantial.
-
...and with all the injuries they've had the last few years, I would bet that the extra week of camp will be easy on the vets too.
-
I heard that there won't be many, if any, vets playing in that game.

Good article by Mikey that I found myself agreeing with all the way. http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/ravens-insider/bs-sp-priorities-20180212-story.html#nws=true Now the big question is 'How?'

Should the Ravens cut WR Breshad Perriman?

Let him earn a spot but I don't think he can do it. -
Three not-so bold predictions for the Ravens in the offseason
oldno82 replied to papasmurfbell's topic in Baltimore Ravens
Eisenberg's article is mostly spot on. There will be good receiver value in the second round if they don't get Ridley in the first. I really wouldn't mind them taking an offensive tackle first. But they should take the best offensive player available rather any defensive player. -

The article seems pretty accurate to me too. They've talked about using Skura at center and he may be as good (mediocre?) as Jensen. -
Yeah the same thoughts cross my mind. The Ray Rice debacle started a long decline and we have not signed any 'attitude' guys since the last Super Bowl. In fact the emphasis has been the opposite regardless of talent. I have gotten the impression that Harbaugh hates to deal with any challenges to his authority and way of thinking. Hence, stagnation. Seems to me that the F.O. has given Harbs way too much say on roster construction. We did better before he won a Super Bowl on how the roster was made up and that was Ozzie's show. Harbaugh seems to have been a failure in developing new talent and hiring good coaching personnel. I really do think B. should have cut him loose after last season. I think he will after next season. Like Billick before him I think it's just time to cut him loose. His message is stale.

I’ve never seen any player with faster sideline to sideline speed and then hit with force than him. Ray was fearless and fear inducing. Remember the play when the Chargers were driving towards a winning td and he hit Tomlinson in the backfield in an explosion of speed and power? He stopped him cold and the Chargers wilted. And yep I remember the Eddie George play.

Three questions for Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti
oldno82 replied to papasmurfbell's topic in Baltimore Ravens
So the bottom line is no young qb to be drafted this year? This year’s class is supposed to have good potential for qb even in the second and third round.
