  1. Spen, I almost ruptured myself laughing at your spot on comments! I They were so funny I even told my wife about them,
  2. The usual tough end of season decisions. I'd keep Snead and Koch. And probably Zadarius. The others I would reluctantly let go.
  3. Could be that the plays called were from a winnowed down playbook. After all, Lamar is a rookie and hasn't much time to absorb all the plays yet. I didn't see any draws or screens or even slants being called and that is on Marty. But in all fairness, Marty did make some great calls during the 7-1 stretch run. Next year Jackson will be more acclimated to the playbook. But it is asking an awful lot for him to improve his accuracy, do better on ball security, change his throwing mechanics, and give up the philosophy of him running so much. That's a lot to swallow in one off-season. But, he is a very hard worker who wants to do better. Maybe he'll swing it.
  4. I think Jackson will work extremely hard to succeed but it won't be easy or problem free. Then we've got Preston harping on the idea that accuracy can't be taught. I don't know about that but if Lamar ends next season injured or unimproved we'll be looking for a franchise qb yet again.
  5. Dressing up Lamar like a stereotypical thug carries some racist undertones to me. He's not like that at all.
  6. Tough choice but while RGIII would be a fine backup it's definitely true that Lamar needs some intense teaching for the pocket. I'm not sure who would be available to mentor him as a pocket type passer. I think that's more up to the coaches to drill him on. So bottom line for me is that I dunno at this point but I'd be leaning for also getting a young qb who's shown some promise as a pocket passer and who can back him up. Lamar won't last a whole more season running the way he does now. Of course, carrying a pocket passer as your backup also means the team has to practice both types of offense. I'm really up in the air about this.
  7. Absolutely feel the same way! Lamar will take big steps forward this off-season and come back a better passer with better ball awareness. Might not be next year but very very soon the Ravens will be back in the Super Bowl.
  8. I find it an offensive photo edit.
  9. I'm hoping we keep Wink at least one more year. He's one of the few protagonists of the 'organized chaos' method that is still in coaching what with Pagano and Ryan in exile. Harbaugh has done an amazing job this year since Joe got hurt. Probably his finest coaching year ever. I have had to reconsider my opinion about him and he's been at least temporarily removed from my shit list. In fact, depending how deep we go in the playoffs he could well turn out to be deserving of another extension. Speaking of goings and comings, I'm hoping now we can keep Mosley if he'd sign for a below market (slightly) price. He really can't cover but he's got great leadership skills and that counts almost as much as talent because of its importance in forming the chemistry of a team.
  10. Need to give a shoutout to Orlando Brown: no sacks allowed in the 10 games he started...pretty damn good for a rookie 3rd round pick. Article on Ravens' website says team is feeling less pressure since they've gotten to the playoffs. While Harbaugh says there's been no dropoff in intensity I'm a little worried the team comes out flat for the Charger rematch. If that happens, Phil Rivers will eat them alive. Lamar was held to just 39 yards rushing against the Chargers. He's going to need to pass in a more balanced attack this week. Hopefully Dixon and Gus power the running game. As I was saying: https://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/bs-sp-ravens-lamar-jackson-wide-receivers-more-involved-20190102-story.html
  11. Another tough game coming. SD will be highly motivated. Lamar will have to pass more if the running game can’t click. We’ll probably need to pass to open up the run. Defense suddenly has secondary issues that must be addressed. But, I’m already happy with how this team performed this second half season. If they lose in a competitive game I can live with that. Of course I want to win and keep going. Our stadium crowd will have to be loud again and the team needs to be as pumped up as they have been since Lamar took over. I think it will be harder to keep the momentum going as the team reached its goal of getting into the playoffs. A letdown is a very real possibility.
  12. All I can say right now is 'PHEW'! Really happy for Lamar and for CJ; Mosley made the play that was needed. I don't even care if we lose next week, this game was our most exciting since the last Super Bowl.
  13. If they win Sunday, this will become a non-issue.
  14. Lamar has enough talent and temperament to be coached on how to handle this.
  15. I'm ecstatic! Just blown away! I was wrong. Harbs should stay and so should all the other coaches. Please pass the Purple Kool Aid!
  16. I agree. And Spen is right too...they haven't really anything yet extension-wise..
  17. I can't believe it either! A stupid move right now. What's next...keeping Joe and his high cap numbers???
  18. Don't get too excited..here's a real downer I just saw: https://www.baltimoreravens.com/video/the-secret-mastermind-behind-lamar-jackson-old
  19. This draft is supposed to be deep in defense. Time will tell.
  20. The Browns are a franchise definitely on the way up. The Bengals on the way down. The Ravens are treading water Right now..jury is still out on the Steelers.. If we hadn’t had Lamar we’d be heading for bottom feeders.
  21. Well we definitely need to get younger on defense with pass rushers and safeties a big need. So that's good news. The bad news is it looks like the beat goes on for a rookie deep threat. I'm hoping we can keep Smokie Brown to provide some downfield threat. After Flacco goes, our cap money available will go up. Maybe we can fit Brown in.
  22. I dunno guys. This year's rookie crop looks pretty good to me. A welcome departure from the last several drafts. Maybe DeCosta is on to something.
  23. We should be able to beat them as long as the team is focused on winning each game and not the playoffs. They also have to make sure to not look ahead to the Chargers game. The possibility still exists that we lose the next three or two out of three. The Browns are still viable as winners of the division. Can you believe it?
  24. Max what you said sure sounds good. I hope it's working out that way. I think this team still needs a couple playmakers on offense and defense. That's going to be on DaCosta's plate.
