Why? I put up horrible shit all the time.

It feels like every season comes down to the last game and it's hard to block out the results of the last 2 seasons. The Stealers knock the Ravens out on the last play in 20016. 2017 the Bengals do it on 4th and 22. Ahnd now, the Browns have their opportunity to make it an AFC North trifecta on the Ravens. This time it's the Browns turn who definitely have a hand in this drama. They tied the Steelers and beat the Ravens. They had a hand in the benching of Joe Flacco. Doubts about Joe leading this offense anywhere had to creep in when the Ravens went into over time against the Brows in a 9-9 tie. The Ravens could not score 10 points in regulation! Only a puny 3 field goals. The Browns are a hot team on a winning streak. It will be Lamar vs Baker. National attention as a new era of QB's take over. They know the Ravens and the Ravens know them and so it goes with Divisional rivalries. The Ravens have their hands full. I think they will get this monkey off their back. And the Steelers will sit home.

Yea...Lamar has to learn so much, in so little time, and he's been doing a great job at that. Really...what Weddle says here tells the truth and the story for this season and what remains ahead...

6-3 at the half? Who would think the Ravens would win? They left so many points on the field. They had the ball with the opportunities. That game despite all that was so great. Huge franchise win. The last minute scoop and score still hasn't sunk in. It's a team sport. You win with a 3 units playing well and in tandem. The Ravens did that. the offense struggled in my opinion but the defense and special teams kept the team in the game.

We know it. The Ravens know it and their opponents know it. The Ravens played a top 10 defense last night and one thing that I saw is the league catching up to their running game. 159 yards rushing is good by league standards yet not so good when this is a major part of your offense. 4.5 ypa. They bog down in the redzone. I love Tucker but you can't defeat the excellent teams with 3's instead of 7's. Especially when you turn the ball over every game. This is not the 2000 Ravens D. 10.3 points will not be enough. This has to be cleaned up in a hurry and adjustments made. "Yea I heard what your wife said to you after the game. That was nasty...but...Listen guys...I swear...you will catch multiple passes for scores and you will be able to feed your families."

Here at ER we aim to please!

And they could move up to #2 if this team makes the playoffs and does damage. I have the 2000 D as #1 and do not expect to see a defense as dominant as that one again. 2006 was an incredible defense...just incredibly great. This 2018 Ravens defense is #1 in points surrendered and #1 in yards and close to that in all the major categories except turnovers.....and those are starting to come. It's not a unit of star play makers, yet it is a unit of men who have brought back the passion and swagger of great defensive play that we know. They swarm to the ball, they are relentless, disciplined and have fun hunting on Sundays. It starts with Ozzie and those defensive drafts and FA acquisitions of the past few years. The winning formula is manifesting now. Defense does win. We are in an era of high scoring offenses and yet they are are coming back to reality when the face a real defense. Not the pretend ones that Parity has created. Give Wink some credit. He inherited them, but didn't mess it up. He hit the switch to let these players exploded and perform at a high level. His defense takes everybody's strengths and makes the collective group of solid NFL players great. Everybody plays and a role. There is luck too. The injury bug did not ruin what on paper looked to be a very solid unit. this unit is deep in talent thanks to Ozzie. Defense travels and as a fan I love it, knowing that no matter where or who the Ravens play, they have a decent chance to win. Finally, there's no reason for this defense to not play at the same level next year and that's exciting.

What seemed impossible is possible.

He had them ready tonight. Short week. Flight to the west coast. Playing the hottest team in the NFL. No problem. Now everybody talking about the Ravens and nobody wants to see them in the playoffs.

WOW!!! That game was fantastic...and so much fun to watch. Total defensive domination of a Chargers team that everybody was saying is the most complete team in the NFL. The Chargers had won 10 of their last 11. First we had to watch the Potomac Drainage Basin Indigenous Persons flounder away their game with the Titans. That put the Titans in as the 6th seed for....4 hours. You had to be thinking the season could end tonight after the Titans won. Not So! There is so much to talk about. Last week I thought Humphrey was the player of the game. He was great tonight but I think Patrick Onwuasor had his break out game. He was everywhere. The Chargers get the ball back with a short field with 3 minutes left. down 6 points. For the last 3 years we've watched the Ravens give up so many last seconds score and lose. Yet tonight...!... ....Onwuasor violently punches the ball our of Gates hands a split second before his knee hits the ground. Then Scoop and Score Young enters the picture. I'm watching this in slow motion disbelief waiting for a whistle...a flag...something to dash our hopes except this time it was for real. The Ravens D make the critical play. Suddenly it becomes a 2 score game. The Humphry seals the deal with his int catch. Tucker finally had his chance at the NFL record. That was exciting....but....let's hope he gets another one. Lamar shows improvement every week and has really won me over. 101.3 QBR. 9.3 ypp. Lamar is very smart and I think he will be a serious force in the NFL. You can see his developmental progression. Tonight he threw more, ran less and when he ran it was because of pressure. He didn't panic and throw the costly interception like the Future HOF Rivers did. He was the better QB tonight. This is a different team. Inspired, flying to the ball and once again we are seeing Ravens Football. It's been a long time. My eyes are not burning. My brain does not hurt. Dare I say...I'm happy?! Definately for the Ravens. Take some time and watch some of the videos of the players on the Ravens website. They are one group of loose, yet focused football players.

5:29 pm and I find myself singing, "Hail to the Redskins!"
-
I am so pumped and excited about tonights game. I think we will see the best of this team. They will peak tonight. I believe they can pull off the win.
-
The timing is perfect. Very happy to read this. Steve wants this distraction out of the way on the eve of their biggest game and....he does not want to lose Harbaugh. I feel the same way and have posted my reasons. It is a huge crap shoot finding a good HC who is a leader, motivator, communicator, great face of the franchise and can stand the test of time. One word describes him; Relentless.
-
This is better reading.... ...and probably much more true and accurate!
-
It wasn't long ago that we were hearing the Ravens are the most balanced team in the NFL. Offense, defense and special teams. They are better since then. We have a great match up. The Chargers are red hot, playing lights out. They were able to beat KC because the Ravens softened them up....
-
So what! The bigger they are, the harder they fall!
-
I feel fairly certain RG3 will be the back up next season. It makes too much sense. DeCosta needs to get a guru QB coach who can guarantee that Lamar develops solid throwing mechanics. They need to teach him how to read defenses. Lamars attitude and work ethic insures that he will be an outstanding pupil. He'll grind like hell on it until he masters it. That could take 2 years. Rumor has it that Decosta was interviewing these 2 for mentors for Lamar....
-
I think he is making a difference and they will have a very solid plan for attacking and defending the Chargers. All season he has had his players focused on getting better and developing as individuals and as a team. We are seeing the results. They are peaking now and quite capable of seizing this game. To win Saturday it will not be on John alone. It will be on him, Marty, Don and Jerry to develop a game plan to win all 3 phases of the game: offense, defense and special teams. They know their strengths and weaknesses. They have met together and developed the game plan and are getting the players ready to execute it. He will have them ready and motivated and focused....and loose. He is a HC that wants to attack. He will unleash the hounds at kick off.

The Ravens know how to bring the heat... They've got swag....
-
OK...Here's the mountain.... Chargers: #6 offense. #10 defense in yards. Points: 28.2 scoring. 21.3 surrendering. Ravens: #12 offense #1 defense. Points: scoring 24.4 surrendering 18.1. Ravens #1 3rd down offense. Chargers 25th Looks pretty even to me. I say the Ravens will be party crashers Saturday night.
-
This is a clear article on the Ravens playoff chances....they have to win out IMO. Thank you Jonas
-
Yes. They came close with the Saints and Chiefs. They held the #1 offense to 156 yards passing Sunday. The way I see it is the Chargers last played on Thursday night, so all those extra days off will cause them to forget how to play football.
