The theme is "If you can't beat'm, join them".

They are falling fast. The final offers to Reed and Ellerbe are on the table.
-
They just tendered Jones.
-
The have to sign some of these guys to long term deals to get relief.
-
Other than Torry Smith they can't draft #1 receivers. They can move Pita out wide and throw to Rice more....that's about it. And Jones?.....he had the big plays in the playoffs but he's not a chain moving guy.
-
There is also $3.3 mil in dead cap money for Cundiff and Boldin. So...$3.3 Dead cap + $3 for draft picks and $4 for RFA's (definately won't be higher) = $10.3. That leaves about $8 mil...as of this moment.
-
They also got Arthur Jones in the Boldin deal. Arizona gave them their 5th round pick.
-
$18.3 is the lastest figure that I have. It will take $3 mil to sign the draft picks and $3 mil to sign the RFA's.
-
At least he's not in the AFC. I wish him well. He was an incredible playmaker to watch...great blocker too....

Hey...the Ravens are keeping their post Super Bowl string going. They got rid of Dilfer after their first one. Now...release a key player who got them their second Super Bowl. It's now a Raven tradition. They did get something for him: Cap relief....bigtime. Here's where they lose. They have nobody who can come close to replacing him. Then you have to factor in their past history of FA WR's. Other than Boldin and Mason, it's a long list of embarrassing busts.

He burned the 49ers so bad they looked past his age and speed. If they swallowed his whole contract then this is great for the Ravens and Boldin. No way he would get $6 to 7.5 mil on the market this year.

Report: Anquan Boldin will take a pay cut or get cut before Tuesday
vmax replied to papasmurfbell's topic in Baltimore Ravens
This leaky information twists and turns.... This makes it sound like the Ravens haven't said anything to him... Maybe these reporters could get a job forecasting the weather. They are doing as good a job as the morons who called for 6-12 inches of snow here on Wednesday. -

Yes. If they can't restructure Boldin then they can't find a replacement anywhere this year. There is no Mason or Boldin available on the cheap. Joe is not moving the chains unless they go to a run first offense and also use Rice as a receiver. He will be "Average Joe". -
McKinnie will be back if the Ravens want him. He won't get any offers on the market.

He didn't fuck us. The Ravens are trying to fuck him. There's no Super Bowl in this town without him. He was awesome and clutch. The Ravens have no "go-to chain mover" and they won't find one cheaper. He brought an attitude that this offense will sorely miss. He was 2/3rds of what made Joe. -
Today...I don't see the Ravens keeping any of these guys. Include Boldin and Leach in there too.

We're at the rumor stage...let me add to the rumors... I hear they want him to take a 50% pay cut or they have to part ways. -
A caller on the radio yesterday said Krueger only had 1.5 sacks before Suggs came back. He's going to dissapoint some team who signs him for $10 mil a year. He needs somebody that the o line has to respect playing the opposite rushing end to be effective.
-
The Ravens should take a real look at getting him
vmax replied to papasmurfbell's topic in Baltimore Ravens
His D line in college made him a star. He sounds like a real idiot to me. There's nothing "Raven" about him. -
I won't get Direct TV. I'm not letting bad weather wreck my football fix. If the Ravens have a late away game, then it's the NFL Redzone for me from 1-4. 587 TD's....when they get 4 screens going it's a blast....and Skippy [scott Hansen] is great to watch and listen too as he races from 1 game to another.
-
No shot at getting Kruger. There will be plenty of suitors for Kruger. Nobody wants to go to Cleveland.

I agree....especially on the fan expectation part. One of the joys as a fan of the Ravens winning the Super Bowl in 2000 was that I knew how hard it is for a franchise to win one....that you can wait decades to experience a Super Bowl winning season. 14 franchises have never won one. To experience that in my lifetime was a huge bonus as a Ravens fan. Now it's happened twice. So, for me,....Joe's contract does not mean he will lead this team to the Promised Land regularly. I do think, that with Joe, the Ravens have a very good chance to win another one before he retires. We had no shot with Boller ect. Locking up Joe gives them the best chance to build another winner....and you can't win one without a very good QB. Joe is that. Secondly....as a fan I want a competative team. The Ravens defenses of the past guaranteed that. Now with Joe locked up, the string will continue. I want to wake up Sundays thinking that this team has a good chance to win. In this age of parity, having a solid playmaking QB almost guarantees that. I also love the Ravens organizations plan to field a team that can compete and make the playoffs every year. This organization will not mortgage the future. That means they will not win Super Bowls every year, but they will be in position,in some seasons, to make a serious run like this year....and maybe escape with the trophy. History shows the Ravens made the playoffs 5 times in the last 5 years and the 5th time was the charm. The losses hurt but that makes the win all the sweeter. Now I do have one expectation. Joe needs to earn his future money by being more consistent. No more clunkers or disappearing for a half. To do that the Ravens have to continue to give him the support he needs to succeed with a strong line and pas catchiung receivers.
