papasmurfbell Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/08/13/john-harbaugh-wont-rule-out-a-dennis-pitta-return/ On July 28, Ravens coach John Harbaugh addressed the severity of the hip injury suffered by tight end Dennis Pitta by saying “Dennis is out for the year.”The Ravens subsequently learned that Pitta suffered no cartilage or ligament damage to the hip when he fractured and dislocated it. That information has led to a change in Harbaugh’s stance regarding Harbaugh’s availability. He was asked Tuesday why Pitta hasn’t been placed on injured reserve and said it was because the team still had hope that Pitta could see the field in 2013.“It’s not procedural,” Harbaugh said, via Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun. “As far as coming back? When we saw there was no ligament or structural damage in there, it gave us hope.”In his Monday Morning Quarterback column on TheMMQB.com, Peter King quoted an unnamed member of the Ravens coaching staff who said “it’s not zero” when asked about the chances of a Pitta return so they are definitely willing to keep the light on for the tight end. Given the flicker of hope, there’s not much reason for the Ravens to make a final call on Pitta now when he can’t be placed on injured reserve with the possibility of return until the cut to 53 players. It’s probably a long shot, but patience paid off for the Ravens with Terrell Suggs and Ray Lewis last season. Geronimo Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Kapron Lewis-Moore wanted to come to the Ravens for this very reason. he looked at last year and saw the recoveries of Suggs and Lewis and felt the Ravens had the best medical staff in the league. 1 Quote

vmax Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 We'll see, but this is good news from the standpoint that it sounds like this is not a career ending injury. Quote
cravnravn Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 Forget this season with Pitta, IR the man and theres no talk of "its not zero" that he returns. Why save a roster spot for him, this team will be fine with Clark & Shiancoe. Juice, whats the word on him, is he going to make the team? Quote
oldno82 Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 Crav, I think the jury is still out on Juice. From what I've seen he's a liability as a run blocker but has good hands and could be horse once he gets his hands on the ball. This situation still has to shake out. Quote

This situation still has to shake out.Leach don't take much time off anyway, so he will have time to develop his blocking skills, but right now, I think Caldy is planning on running him at TE some....Let's see what happens these next 3 games and we'll have a better chance of guessing right.... REPEAT !!!! Quote
